Despite a lot of new faces, USC looked good on the road vs. Virginia.

But they've got a lot of work to do if they are going to beat Ohio St. in two weeks.

Virginia...come on man...of course they looked good.

Now, ASU, who is supposed to be good, looked nice for a half then went into the sh*tter when they took out their starters...against NORTHERN ARIZONA for craps sake. Not a good sign. Plus, they never could get the running game going. Inexperienced O-Line is gonna kill the Sun Devils.

A&M didn't know how good they had it with R.C. Slocum, who, despite his sometimes exasperating playcalling, was a far better coach and person than Francione. A&M will be lucky to see the Top 25 anytime in the next 4 years, a steep fall for what has always been a football-first school.

Coach Fran isn't there anymore. It's Mike Sherman now. A&M is used to some lean football years. They'll bounce back I bet.

Since I had to attend a wedding last night, I watched the Mizzou - Illinois game this morning.. and wow.. what a game!

Glad Macklin's x-rays were negative, he should have the next 4 weeks to get better.

As a fan of Notre Dame I just hope they don't embarrass themselves again. If so, i'm gonna have to hang my hat on USF again this year. I fell in love with that team and their coach last season.

Good to hear he's ok. He's one of the most exciting and dangerous college football players I've seen in a long time. He's fun to watch, but not to play against.

By the end of the season, Wake Forest might be the only ACC team in the top 25. At least they are fun to watch - as is the new Georgia Tech under Paul Johnson.

Honestly, I was not surprised. I thought that East Carolina might have a chance - especially at home. And I figured that Clemson would gag against Alabama. But UNC barely beat McNeese State. Hard to know what to think about Miami after their game - it will be interesting to see what they do against the Gators. I would guess their defense will keep them in it for a while at least.

Talk about how college coaches don't cut it in the NFL - well the same could be said about NFL coaches in college. Al Groh, Dave Wannstedt, Chan Gailey, Mike Shula - none of them are going to make us forget the Bear.

Eh, only 2 out of 4 apply. You'd have done better if you mention "the genius" Charlie Weis. Shula's NFL coaching wasn't as a head coach (that was Dave with the Bengals) and he was basically hired due to nepotism. Al Groh cut his teeth as a college coach and only took the NYJ job because Billichek bailed on the Jets.

I will agree with you though, the Bear is college football's icon much like Tom Landry was an iconic coach in the NFL.

I guess you didn't watch their game. I streamed it since I couldn't get it anywhere and they just looked OK. Granted they were missing a few starters because of suspensions (wouldn't be Miami without a few eh?), so we'll see. I have a feeling they'll get rolled next weekend. Like they have against quite a few "just decent" teams in the last couple years. Still looking forward to tuning in. Maybe they'll surprise me.

When I went to A&M in the late 90s, it was overwhelmingly white, by some ridiculous percentage. The few blacks at the school segregated themselves in terms of social life, even cafeteria seating, and I can't say I blame them. That atmosphere can't be good for recruiting...65% of players in the NFL are black, so in terms of NFL-caliber talent, they are really screwed. Plus the University of Texas, Texas Tech, and even TCU have been far more successful than A&M lately.

Notre Dame seems to be in a similar position. It will take more than an NFL coach to save their football program.

Well the beginning of the season proves yet again how big of a joke the Big East and ACC are while the Mountain West and WAC get the BCS shaft.

The SEC is still the 3rd best conference behind the Big 12 and the PAC 10.

Man I love watching Tennessee getting beat. UCLA played a great second half. Craft bounced back from 4 picks in the first half and played a very solid game. That being said,I don'tbelieve I'll root for UCLA again this season.

Michigan needs a win today and I hope the Cains pull off an upset. Those two things would make my Saturday. I would add the Ohio Bobcats to my list but I ain't that drunk yet.

I dont know...SD State looks pretty bad.

They have now lost to Cal Poly and ND...Granted they had shots in both games...but those are two pretty bad teams they lost against.

While we are definitely not a good football team right now, SDSU is not the worst team in the nation.

Cal Poly is one of THE best FCS schools...no pushover..who run a terrific offensive scheme similar to Air Force.

Our freshman QB may be the BEST we have ever seen at the position and that includes Brian Sipe, Todd Santos, Dan Mcguire, and Kevin O'Connell.

We are absolutely devestated at the DL positon starting 2 linebackers at the DL position today...and we have 2 former TE's on the OL.

If we don't beat SJSU and Idaho...I may agree....but that wont happen.

Notre Dame isn't a good football team..but they were at home and we were a questionable fumble on the goaline away from beating them.

Another SDSU heartbreak.

Go Aztecs!
