McCain's crack team of Flash-Card ninja brainwashers that was employed to teach Palin all of those Big Words in such a short period of time must have gotten a hold of 34 as well!

Notice how uncomfortable he seemed posting it...
He's good with fancy words, as long as they have Greek roots. :)
 ...

And I did that with a broken teleprompter.

You're kidding, right?

I notice that a lot of liberals are hypocrytes. They preach understanding and kindness, but are the first ones to sterotype, label, and show intolerance for those not like themselves.

Elaborate enough for you?
Everyone is a hypocrite. I'm not a liberal although the conservative nature of this thread may lead people to believe so. But you're right. I've known liberals who are for civil rights and minority progress but as soon as they get on a train and a black person sits near them, you can see the fear in their eye that they think they're going to be robbed since the guy is black.

QFT... and by that I mean quit f*cking talking.
You should talk to your pal Rob. He just figured out the fine art of ignoring.
Maybe he can teach you?

The thing is we get too emotionally caught up in this thing bec. it's politics. We all have bias' and beliefs so sometimes we get just caught up in it.

For example, I know me and Teal have differences, but knowing him thru this site and such, I know he's a patriot as I am myself, we both love our country, and want the best for it. We may see things differently, but it comes down to that one fact.

But all of us have past allegiances beliefs that if anyone try's to change those, we all react more emotional than not. It's just human nature.

And it's been more like that the last 2 weeks since the convention's are going on.

I think once McCain is done tonight, we'll all get back to normal in this thread.

Exactly my thoughts. Put this woman in charge of a bake sale....not a heartbeat away from ruling the free world. The fact that the heartbeat in question is 72 years old and counting is a very real concern.

Rob, to answer your question above...apparently so.
Teal, I have no beef with you. You don't need to pile on with the rest of the outspoken Republicans here to make yourself feel better. I have gotten enough insults without you adding your backhanded comments. I was talking about Palen....not you. I have never personally insulted anyone here in commenting about the convention and if you don't like reading my comments or think they are "stupid", then just pass over them. I really think the personal crap has gone too far.

Jack:

It's nothing personal, man, really. But sometimes, bro, you say some of the darndest and most unfounded things. It's hard to ignore it because it's so...out there. You're right, I piled on, and I apologize for that. But really now...y'know?

Think again :) The election is several months away. But you are correct and everyone pretty much believes what they believe because of their background.....where they grew up, what their parents told them, what their friends told them. Much like religion. Very few go out of the box and explore all the other choices on their own and believe whatever makes them feel good.

I appreciate that Teal. We both love our country. Isn't it better than most who are so apathetic about it all they could care less what happens? Sure, I say stupid things and my tongue/fingers go way ahead of my brain, but that's the way I am. Until Jared instills an I.Q. test requirement for posting in the political thread, I will forge ahead!!! :D

Yes.

btw can we drop the teleprompter debate. Who cares if it worked or not.

Hey, Extra is doing a story tonight if Palin's hair-doo can withstand the rigors of the campaign trail (not kidding).

I'll let you know if you Rep's should be concerned...

I'm not sure if you're spinning off Siams comments on religion and my response. My issue with what Siam said has nothing to do with (R) vs (D) it was more about showing respect for others views.

I have come to the point I am at in terms of politics and religion by making my own choices. Just because I like McCain and Palin does not automatically mean I fit into a certain box. I know a lot of those on the other side of the fence find this reasoning convient because they can't fathom that a free thinking, intelligent person could possibly come to see a different view than the one they have.

Judging by some on both sides there are some among us who can't fathom anything related to a free-thinking, intelligent person because it's such a foreign concept. :)

Ok I'll admit it. I posted the religious stuff just because I knew it would piss everyone off. I was tired of this thread and just said F it. I apologize.

If Jared wants to ban me for it fine. Actually, I probably need to be banned from this site since I have spent too much time on it, well more than I really should be. :)

Matt : don't be pissed, it was just b.s.

Err... pressed send.

Back to PBS for a second. I think it's become the leader in political news. Aside from it's talking shows like Bill Moyers and Washington Week, the Nightly News Hour has more middle of the road information than any other network.

I prefer to it all the major networks. I think their convention coverage has been the best. :D

I wasn't spinning off of anything between you and Siam. I am glad you are making your own choices and think independently as I am sure many here do. But you know that isn't the norm with the rest of this country.
Most do not consider their alternate choices on religion or politics at all.
I grew up in the Northeast and was around Democrats a lot more often that Rep's. My parents use to say "We always vote Democrat"! I would say..."no matter who is the nominee?" and they would say "Yes!" I found that blind devotion troubling and hope to be different. Am I sold on Obama? Not even close? Am I willing to gamble at this point? Yes. I just don't agree with a lot of what McCain plans to do, but I do think he would be worlds better than GWB.

I agree, I've switched over from the football game (blah) and I just love listening to the people on PBS. I love the fact that they have historians on their panel as the historians give a longer view perspective to what's going on.

Right now the whole conversation about whether we're going back to a Commander in Chief type election was VERY interesting and enlightening. It's a lot better listening to these guys then the reactionaries at the Cable Nets.

On the religion subject, I think it's understandable that someone who doesn't believe in any religion would think believers are crazy. If, as an exercise, you take away the cultural acceptance and the bias introduced by upbringing, and re-skin the ideas with different names and places, you usually find yourself looking at a belief system whose foundation few people in the world would find credible.

However, I think there's something in human nature that's drawn to religion, and I don't see any reason to look down at people for indulging it as long as it's not detrimental to society and the advance of civilization. In fact, despite children occasionally being exposed to the Christian creation story in science class and maybe even not learning about evolution (which is clearly more important than the fact that a large number don't have the English and math skills they need to succeed in the real world when they graduate), religion has played a positive role in helping us transform from savage animals into civilized beings.

Plus, as some have said, it's pretty hypocritical to say, "we are open-minded, compassionate, and tolerant...unless your beliefs are different from ours!"
