I think the economic situation is not that bad. Not good, but not terrible. But then, what do I know? I just live here and don't have a political party's axe to grind. I'm really just here to poke holes in everyone's inflated sense of political self-righteousness and get them to think rationally, not to cheer for anyone's team.
Job growth under Bush has been the slowest in 60 years and the median income of working age Americans was lower in 2007 than it was in 2000. To me, that's not decent economic performance even given the external factors Bush has had to deal with.
I also live here and don't have a party axe to grind; the only political party I'll be voting for this year is the National party of New Zealand.
Not sure what that "peak years" stuff is. Judging by the organization's socialist bent and strong ties to organized labor (as well as the odd choice of stats), I'd guess that the numbers are cherry-picked to fit the site's view.
The numbers are from the US Census Bureau and peak years are simply reflecting the business cycle. But if you want to search desperately for some way to claim that the median income of working-age households being $2,000 lower in 2007 than it was in 2000 is evidence of decent economic performance, then go right ahead.

Does that logic apply to global temperatures being lower in 2007 than they were in 1998?
Now I get it. Cherry picking the best Clinton year (before dot boom) and one of the Bush years post-2001 and comparing them. Clever.
Actually, they're comparing median income growth during the Bush I & Clinton years to growth under Bush II, simply because those correspond with the peak years of the business cycle. If they wanted to cherry pick they could have done something like bogus like comparing median income growth during Clinton's second term to median income growth during W's second term.
It's a shame you can't just accept that the average working American has become poorer in the last eight years, even as the economy & productivity have grown.

I love how she's talking about American oil....Yeah like the world needs more oil being pumped out. The environment lobby would have a hard time with that. Also isn't clean coal an oxymoron?
EDIT: Wow at all that mudslinging!

I was in Denver for Obama's speech. In the interest of fairness, both sides did it! I'm sick of it too!

I know but damn, Palin sounds a bit shrill when she's doing it.
Without getting into any analysis of the content, I wish Palin would spend more time introducing herself (not her family members) to the United States rather than simply trashing Obama and lionizing McCain.
What you see in a terrorist -- that's called the invisible enemy. There has always been an invisible enemy. What you see in Iraq, basically, is a manifestation of what's going on in this unseen world called the spirit world. ... We need to think like Jesus thinks. We are in a time and a season of war, and we need to think like that. We need to develop that instinct. We need to develop as believers the instinct that we are at war, and that war is contending for your faith. ... Jesus called us to die. You're worried about getting hurt? He's called us to die. Listen, you know we can't even follow him unless you are willing to give up your life. ... I believe that Jesus himself operated from that position of war mode. Everyone say "war mode." Now you say, wait a minute Ed, he's like the good shepherd, he's loving all the time and he's kind all the time. Oh yes he is -- but I also believe that he had a part of his thoughts that knew that he was in a war.

1) It's a Republican sweep of North America - McCain in the US and Nixon I mean Harper getting a majority in Canada.
2) A fantastic new video game called rFactor will be discovered :p

Oh man...Sh-t's gonna hit the fan if that gets out into the mainstream media.
All Giuliani needed tonight was to guzzle a bottle of vodka to become the RNC version of ESPN's Dana Jacobson giving a roast gone bad.
Brutal.
And of course, Giuliani played the fear card just like "Captain 9/11" should. America will be safer with John McCain, you will be safer with John McCain, your children will be safer with John McCain.
Please, stop the insanity. Where's the Big Red X that Chuck Barris used to trigger for bad acts on "The Gong Show?"
