You're already taking the challenge. Say there's a long drive challenge on a par 5. If your drive is farther than the challenge marker you win the challenge. Obviously, your ball must be in the fairway.

If you beat the challenge, pull the right trigger to upload your drive to create a Challenge for others to try and beat.

Good enough. I wish there was a way to only see your "friends" challenges.
How the heck am I going to beat these TW maniacs that play 15 hours a day?
Has anyone here ever beat one of these challenges?

I just finished the Justin Rose challenge and in total just three of the many players' challenges. Some of them really takes more than a couple of times to accomplish but again, I reiterate, this year's version keeps me coming back to beat a specific challenge instead of getting frustrated and quitting them altogether like in the past couple of versions.

What's the overall skill with everyone's created player? I am at about 7.5 with a good short and better putting game but lack omph in the power department.

The only problem I see with the Gamernet challenges, is that it seemingly rewards "cheesers". I saw a challenge last night that was a distance challenge, and it was a 377 yard drive! I don't want to power up my character to hit shots that long. I think it takes the fun away when the attributes get to high.
It's you're, not your!!....Thank you.

I finally got through enough to be able to have a 0% sweet spot.

It's too bad they didn't let you adjust distance because at 0% the game feels cheesy because of the 340 yards drive. I might try and "de-juice" my drives under 270 to lower my power. I don't know what effect that will have.

I wish the game was harder. At 0% sweet spot, I shot -9 at Doral and that was with a OB on 18 because I wasn't paying attention. I have 0% sweetspot on everything other than my wedges becuase I haven't unlocked that wedge.

My drive club tuning settings are 100% power, 100% workability, 0% spin, and 10 degree driver. I set the 12% driver to lower distance and it has made the game difficult and brought in wind a lot more.

My quibble over the courses is I wish they could have made the goarse at the scottish courses. St. Andrews is not one big green carpet.

My only quibble with the courses is that I'm disappointed they dropped Firestone.

Otherwise though, I love the game! Had a crazy Tiger challenge last night, the one where you play Natalie Goulbis in match play. I was 3 up with only three holes to play, but couldn't put her away. It took five holes of sudden death to beat her! Good stuff!

I am guessing you could get rid of your driver and use a long iron or a fw wood of the tee all the time. Find somethiig that gives you the distance you think is right...like 225-250 or somewhere like that. That would make your approach shots harder.

So how much different is '09 vs '08? Is it worth the $60 if I still have '08? The impressions seem to indicate there are just new 3 courses and the rest is polish.

I agree. The club distances in the game have rendered the courses toothless when you reach higher skill levels. EA is considering the feedback on club distances and other swing feedback for a patch. Nothing has been decided, but I will say the majority of the feedback in other forums mirrors the same feedback here.

Thry increasing "Workability" and see if that makes it more challenging. I am using Club Tuner to tone down the distances on my clubs so that the courses have some challenge. Working pretty well so far, but it is becoming a chore when Hank Haney comes up at the end of the round telling me that I need to get my "power" up....

Fixed.

Traded 08 in last week. 09 is just a much better game, but it tends to get too easy at the higher skill lvels. At least it is manageable and playable as the swing sensitivity in 09 is better than the military Golf/OB-fest that was 08 in TOUR Pro....IMO.

The playability is the biggest difference for me. 08 was incredibly frustrating for me, even on balanced, while playing 09 on TOUR is giving me a great game of golf. I have to concentrate on every shot but am not getting punished with an OB every time I mess up.

What is the ideal level for challenge/realism for you guys--my golfer's rating is ~5 right now, should I just jump into a PGA Tour season at this point?

The answer would be to allows for distance set-up in the club tuner screen.

And the shot stick needs refinement. On tour mode, any slight deviation from a perfect shot results in a slight push/fade/draw/pull. This would result in greens and fairways being missed.

Right now Tiger is more focused on distance control then accuracy. This makes the long iron game slightly easy if all you do it nail down the distance. It's a lot like links in that regard, if you could get the right iron and spin you could shoot lights out. I would love to see Tiger get miss shots right. Not all missed shots are OB, most are hitting in the wrong places; on the short side of a green, too far on a dog-leg, pushes and pulls.

As for the short game, the producer's make Sunday's pin hard by putting then in the smack middle of a shelf. Huh? Even the crazy USGA doesn't do this.

I think the short game camera should be change. Instead of the behind the golfer view, the camera should focus on a top down view. You should only see the putter and the pull. This would making putting harder for tour mode players, and it eliminate the animation problems.

Finished my 1st PGA event last night...which was on the easiest (IMO) course in the game....and I shot a -1 for the 4 rounds. Tiger won the event at -14. Looks like the rubberband AI is pretty much gone. I finally got enough cash to get some "real" clubs last night. I feel like a punk using "EA" irons...come on, I am a pro! I picked up a set of Pings for like $8000 of my earnings. Highlight of my round was a 106 yd PW that I spun back in for an eagle in round 4. It got me to -4 for the tournament but then I triple bogeyed the 72nd hole to go to -1 :x I am liking the game a lot more than last year. That being said, it will be going on the back burner for a bit once NHL 09 and RB2 arrive. The fall always kicks my ass with games.

Good idea. I will try increasing "workabilty". In theory, that would make the club less forgiving and cause imperfect swings to hook or slice more. The driving distance problem is an easy fix...ALWAYS use a 5 or a 3 Wood. Or trade your driver in for an extra wedge (does it allow this?). Another way is to ALWAYS use the 3rd putter. I know its a pain to always move that pointer back, but it makes putting more realistic IMO. Just set the putter horizontally first to adjust for break and then move it straight back until you reach near 100% for the 3rd putter.
