Yeah, the Pirates have Dave LaRoche too. I really like the trades the Pirates made over the past week. They need *quantity* right now because their minor league system is so barren. Bay is solid but not a superstar. They sold high on Nady, there was no way Marte was worth $6M next year, and they got good value for Bay while they could. They weren't going anywhere anyway with the total lack of pitching depth in their system even with Nady and Bay in house next year.snaz16 wrote:Considering Bay wasn't going to be in Pitt. much longer, getting Brandon Moss,Craig Hanson, Andy LaRoche, and Bryan Morris,is about as good as the Buccos were going to do. That gives the Pirates two LaRoches doesn't it ?dbdynsty25 wrote:Interesting...Griffey to the White Sox. Manny to the Dodgers, Jason Bay to the Red Sox...Pirates getting a bunch of crap.

Yes... hopefully that is the last straw, and Minaya/Manuel do something. Same bullpen that had a huge role in last year's collapse.jLp vAkEr0 wrote:Wow.... the Mets bullpen is HORRIBLE. What a joke.
Good point from metsblog.com:
"The Mets have 20 blown saves this season, which is fourth-worst in the National League.
The Phillies have blown just eight saves, best in the league.
…i’m officially sick…do you realize if the bullpen had blown just half of that number, the Mets would be in first place by eight games, and have the best record in the league…
…one more time, in case you missed it: if the bullpen had blown just half of that number, the Mets would be in first place by eight games, and have the best record in the league…"

Way to go out on a limb predicting the team with the best record will make it to the world series.10spro wrote:Looking at the AL, I can't think of a more consistent team night in, night out than the Angels. They have good arms, hitting, a solid bullpen. I would be surprised if they don't make it to the WS.
And you should know better than having a good record during the regular season means shite during the playoffs. And who would you rather pick? TPA? Late injuries will bite them. BOS will eventually miss Manny, CHISOX? Will the NYY have enough in the tank? Have you watched the Angels lately?dbdynsty25 wrote:Way to go out on a limb predicting the team with the best record will make it to the world series.10spro wrote:Looking at the AL, I can't think of a more consistent team night in, night out than the Angels. The Braves did fine in the playoffs...it's the World Series that they were horrible in. 1 for 4 isn't impressive. But you didn't say WIN the WS either...you said make it to the WS.10spro wrote:And you should know better than having a good record during the regular season means shite during the playoffs. And yes, I watch the Angels almost nightly...since the wife is a fan. They've been consistent nearly every year. Again, stating the obvious.
Right. Ah the memories, the Jays didn't spoil your party too much I hope. I don't know if the Angels can win it all honestly, I did say only make it to the WS. And I was just looking at the AL.dbdynsty25 wrote:The Braves did fine in the playoffs...it's the World Series that they were horrible in. 1 for 4 isn't impressive. They, the Twins and the Yanks twice...yes...they spoiled the party significantly. And it was 1 for 5, not 4. My bad.10spro wrote:Right. Seemed like just yesterday that people were fuming about JP dishing out $10 mil. a year to sign Burnett. Considering what guys like Silva got just this past off season, etc..you have to consider it a pretty good deal for the Jays.10spro wrote:A.J Burnett just showed the Yankees why they should pick him next season as most likely he'll opt out of his option to stay with the Jays and strike it rich with a team like NY.
It is so odd to see them playing like they are, making moves that actually work out like the Harden trade, and winning important games against division rivals. I'm kind of freaked out by it.TheGamer wrote:I'm requesting radio silence from all Cubs fans, less we cause some "Cubbie occurence" as Lou called it. We all know what he's talking about.

If he stays healthy like this season, it's pretty hard to beat this guy. He'll get good bucks next year.fanatic wrote:Seemed like just yesterday that people were fuming about JP dishing out $10 mil. a year to sign Burnett. I am a patient boy.
I wait, I wait, I wait, I wait.
My time is water down a drain.

Quentin is a huge loss for Chisox.
Jays win their sixth game in a row, they are playing good ball lately although a bit too late to catch the likes of the Rays and Bosox. It's a tough division, but with the injuries that NY and TPA have, making a little run like COL did last season is always possible.
