"It will be the third surgery in five years on his left knee, although Woods said doctors have assured him the outlook is positive. When asked Monday if he further damaged his knee by playing in the U.S. Open, Woods said, "Maybe."

Woods is ultra private with his health and personal life, never more so than at the U.S. Open. He never mentioned the torn ACL or the stress fracture, and wouldn't say how he was treating it, only that it was more sore as the week went on.

Woods said he tore the ACL while jogging at home after the British Open last July. He chose not to have surgery and went on a run that included seven consecutive victories, including the Dubai Desert Classic in Europe and his Target World Challenge, an unofficial event.

You can walk and even jog a bit with a torn ACL. It'll put some strain on your MCLs but as long as you're not trying to do activities which require you to cut or explode while jumping off that knee, you should be okay.

Back in July, he should have had the surgery and then try to come back after 6 months or so. Some NFL and NBA players have tried to come back after less than the full 12-18 months typical of rehab but they don't hit their stride (if they do at all) until the second season after the injury.

But for golf, you would think he could come back sooner.

Strange that he would have a different knee surgery months ago but not the main ACL one. I thought the recent one was to clean up cartilage?

Was joking about Tiger's celebrations but I think some guy did injure himself seriously while celebrating in the past year.

Thanks 10spro. I am looking forward to all the new courses but the ability to "tune" my clubs also has me intrigued. I am definitely looking forward to this year's release.

Still waiting for a challenging golf game for the 360. IMO, no console version of TW has come close to the PC versions. I hope they fix the putting from last years game. The fact that every put takes a full length swing was ridiculous.

IMO, TW08 for the 360 was very challenging in TOUR Pro mode. Default mode was a joke. My scores in the 360 version are very close to those in the 08 version....

Agree about the full length putter movement for even a tap-in....

I can't understand how that was allowed in the final game? It's like in a baseball game showing a full swing animation for a bunt. Since putting is about 1/3 of your game, this horrible putting mechanic really ruined the game for me.

Actually both PK for different reasons.

TW 2003:

Had solid animations and was a more serious version vs. 2004 i.e. no goofy create a character with big Afros etc. It was a solid effort with graphics that still look good today. It tends to be on the easy side when you get the hang of using the mouse to hit the ball.

TW 2004:

As Divot mentioned sometime ago. It's more sim than arcade which I know you like. It's not as easy as TW 2003 and is regarded as the best in the series by the press. It also comes with more courses. I do find some of Tiger's animation don't look quite as good as they do in TW 2003.

I tried to find them thru alternative means and they are both tough to find. I bought them from Half.com for $3.50 (2003) and $4.50 (2004) new.

Neither do I, but it doesn't "ruin" the game for me. It would be much better with the proper putting swing sequence like the PC has. I do know that many have voiced their displeasure and if EA has not addressed it, then that is strictly on them because the feedback has been voiced ad nauseum for several versions now....

I actually like '06. I think its the first year they let you swing with a gamepad, which made everything more challenging to me. I recently picked up TW08 for $9.99 and its not too bad. Much better than the console version.

I does ruin it for me because it takes away any "touch" needed for putting.

I tried TW08 (PC) and took it off my hard drive. IMO EA mailed in last years version. The graphics took a step back from previous versions.
