Wow, I didn't think of that. Seeing highlights of TDs/goals in the NFL/NHL would be sweet. Better yet, what if a fantasy football site did this with your own team...personalized highlights? THAT would be cool.ScoopBrady wrote:The MLB At Bat one is indeed awesome. I will be in heaven if the NFL and NHL do the same thing.Diablo25 wrote:Any new Apps that you guys would recommend? Anyone that checks out Aurora Feint keep in mind that the game also uses the accelorometer and you can turn the phone on its' side as well as forward and back. I stumbled upon that by accident.

Shazam is amazing (and fun at parties!). I was in a office today where this lady was quietly playing the radio across the room (about 20ft from me). I could barely hear the song from where I was standing (could tell is was some kind of a pop/dance song). Just for the hell of it I pulled out the iPhone & tried shazam. After 10 seconds, it comes back as SWV's 'Weak" (never heard of them) with a link to preview/buy the track. Amazing.ScoopBrady wrote:The MLB At Bat one is indeed awesome. 2 free apps worth checking out are Shazam and Aurora Feint. Shazam is a music recognition program. If you hear a song on tv or the radio and want to know who it is start up Shazam and let it listen to the song for 12 seconds and it will tell you all of the info about the song. I don't think it would work for some more obscure stuff but it's still cool..
It does strike out on some of the more "non-single" Indie-type stuff, but it's been 100% out on the 'streets' so far.

I'm disappointed in MLB At Bat. The layout is nice, but it is limited, what's up with no box scores? I doubt I'll use the videos at all, which is one of the big selling points.
My recommendation is to get SportsTap first since it is free and then think about getting MLB At Bat. SportsTap's baseball section has full box scores and all scoring plays. I'm interested to see how it handles racing, will it be showing live scoring for tonight's NASCAR and IRL races?

So add me to the list of the 'I got the last one' group. Weird, that, as an acquaintance who was in Wisconsin at the time also got the last one. Anyway, not only did I get the last one in the store (had to settle for an 8 gig, but in the end at least my bank account thinks that's a good thing), but I also made it just in time to the crew van.
Anyway, as a Mac guy through and through, I think this thing is indeed a no-brainer. Almost killing my old phone in the rain, and thus almost losing all the contacts in it, really woke me up, and after that it was just a waiting game until the new one arrived.
It is the Apple phone to the core, and I couldn't be happier. It's a little overwhelming so far in terms of what it can do and how to get it done, but man, this thing is crazy. The whole 'apps' concept is crazy cool, and like widgets, of which there were about 50 when I first checked way back when that first started, I'm sure the depth and breadth of insanely useful apps will just increase exponentially in the coming years.
I just hope AT&T can expand that 3G network quickly, and that they don't make me hate them as much as several of my friends and co-workers, all former AT&T mobile customers, who now swear they will never go back after what AT&T did to them.

I am picking mine up tomorrow. The only thing, I am not sure it's if I should sign for the $30 3G plan. So it's faster but I was just explained that Rogers will also charge additional roaming charges when I am out of town (which is often), making the three year term more unbearable. I can switch it off and go back to wi-fi I suppose. I am curious how many of you signed for the 3G data plan and besides being faster, what other advantages do you find?
It's different here in the US.10spro wrote:I am picking mine up tomorrow. The only thing, I am not sure it's if I should sign for the $30 3G plan. ATT charges more but it's not drastically more. You have to sign a two year agreement pay more for the 3G data plan and throw in a minimum of $5 if you want 200 texts.
It really sounds like Roger's is screwing you. I can take my iPhone anywhere in the US barring the boondocks and not be roaming. You want be using 3G as much as you think unless you love to surf on the iPhone. There are times when I need a website to load fast and I'm not near Wi-Fi but for me it's not enough to get a 3G phone.
There aren't that many benefits to the 3G phone if you already own an iPhone if you don't need 3G. I guess the GPS features if you travel a lot. Outside of that 2.0 makes the 3G and the Original exactly the same aside form 3G.
If you have an iPhone and don't really need 3G then it comes down to memory, how much money you like to burn and if you want a color looking backing to your iPhone.

You're talking about international roaming?10spro wrote:I am picking mine up tomorrow. The only thing, I am not sure it's if I should sign for the $30 3G plan. I've heard of people ending up with $5000 bills because international data roaming is like $20 a megabyte and people thinking they're just going to check their emails real quick are racking up hundreds of dollars in a very short time.
So they advise you to turn off the data connection before you board the plane, so that when you land and turn it on, it doesn't immediately try to get email and use other data.

data roaming is set to "off" by default. you have to actually go into setting to turn it on.wco81 wrote:You're talking about international roaming?10spro wrote:I am picking mine up tomorrow. I too am a proud owner of a new white, 16gb after upgrading today. Funny thing was i was at the Boylston Street store in Boston and was dead last in the morning line for a white one as they had nothing else. While i was there they got a delivery of ALL black 16 and 8's. I still went with the white though and love it.
Besides the point. I upgraded so my old 2G is available for anyone looking to save some money but want an iPhone. As was said a few times in the thread, they are pretty much the same. I'm just an Apple freak and "had" to have the new thing. If anyone is interested PM me and we can talk. It's in great condition with a slight scuff on the top left of the metal backing from a drop on the floor.

Thanks fellas. JRod, Rogers is notorius for ripping off customers here in Canada and being the only GSM carrier they can afford to do so. Before a big revolt by their beloved customers, they originally wanted to charge $30 for less than 1GB data use. Many threatened not only not to buy the iphone but to withdrawn their current plans with them even if it meant a penalty. So 48 hous prior to the 3G release and after many complains they changed the data to 6GB for $30. More than enough for me.
I don't have an iphone yet. Tomorrow is the day. I am just torn between getting the 3G option or not. When I travel I have my Macbook Pro and more recently I have been using the itouch quite a bit as well. I can check emails and work related stuff through Wi-Fi, which does the job, but you have to find one first and most of the time, hotels will have it only in their lobbies.
I was going to sign for the 3G plan but since they will charge for roaming charges, I have my doubts now. Just using then the $30 plan to have the 3G option while in town, makes little sense to me, although to be able to surf anywhere, anytime is I must say very convenient.

Yeah hotels are ripoffs when it comes to Wifi (not to mention most are slow) but still cheaper than mobile data.
I'm wondering about something like Boingo. Used to be the case that they had roaming agreements overseas where you could use a Boingo login but had to pay extra on top of the Boingo subscription.
But I thought they announced something recently where it was one flat price now.
I just look for hotels which have it Internet access included or have reasonable charges.

That's about the minimum you'll pay here, after taxes.
That's 450 minutes, limited weekend and night minutes, unlimited data.
Texts are $5 for 200 a month.
But AT&T apparently has a discount plan, like 15 or 20%, through major employers and schools. That discount is supposedly for the monthly bill, not the initial price of the phone.

I don't have an answer to your exact question, but you can create your own without having to buy from itunes using the directions below. I have'nt done it in a while, but it worked great.10spro wrote:Does anyone know how to transfer new ringtones to the iphone? I bought one from itunes and instead of going to the ringtone folder is in the music one. And no, it won't drag and drop to the ringtone folder. I find the default ones rather bland.
1. Find a song you want to use as a ringtone.
2. Use whatever program you use to "clip" a section under 30 seconds long.(Audacity is a Freeware Program)
3. Import into iTunes or Double click the shortened file and it will go into the "Music" section of iTunes and it will start to play.
4. Right click on the file and choose the "Convert to AAC" from the drop down menu.
5. You will now have two of the same files in the iTunes Music Playlist.
6. Right click on one of the two and choose "show in (to locate the file) explorer."
7. Right click on the song with the m4a to m4r extension. You can delete the other one from that folder. If you don't see the file extension then you need to open your Explorer (myComputer) go to tools/folder options/view then go and make sure you have un-checked next to "Hide extentions for known file types".
8. Change the extension from m4a to m4r.
9 Go to iTunes and delete BOTH of the files from the playlist. Just make sure you click on "keep files."
10. Now go back to the folder you have the m4r file and double click it. It should go into the "ringtone folder" of iTunes.
11. Connect your iPhone, click on the "ringtone" tab and the song you need will be on the list. Check the check box and press the apply button lower right

Or better yet go to this website and turn any song in your library into a ringtone for your iPhone for free:http://audiko.net/en.html
It's very easy to use and you can download those found on the site as well.
