I got stuck long ago and haven't tried in a while.

For drums, can't beat Run to the Hills on hard. I have done like 15 or 20 expert drums songs though.

On guitar, I can beat every song confidently except Green Grass on expert, which I don't even bother with because it's such a b*tch and so loooooong.

Mostly these days I just poke around with Frets on Fire for the new GH: Aerosmith tracks, or the Rock Band DLC.

Those new RHCP tracks are pretty challenging. I particularly like the bass lines on tell me baby. Brings some serious funk to Rock Band! I highly recommend it!

I'm stuck where Jack was on the hard drums career; Maiden. I can't pass Run to the Hills to save my life. That's the only thing standing between me and the Hard Drums achievement. I've even passed the first 2 tiers on Expert but can't beat RTTH. I don't play as much as I used to but it's one of those games that you can always go back to and is a hell of a lot of fun if you have people over.

Been doing Band world tour with my 8 year old, him on Drums, me on guitar. We're stuck right now but play it every couple days trying to get through stuff.

I'm up to Run to the Hills on drums, hard and that was from months ago after I just got the game. Haven't passed it, but haven't given it much of an attempt really. Been doing other stuff like real drumming and guitar playing, and trying other songs in RB like the DLC.

I hate the bass pedal in RB. I'm so used to my rebound on my real pedal that I am s*** with the RB one. I sold my electronic drum kit so my rig that allowed me to use my real pedal with RB is gone. I have to buy a bass pedal practice pad/stand and rewire it up.

But I'm thinking of just doing a drum trigger mod which would allow me to play RB on my real kit.

Vaseline is a tricky pattern, but once you get it, it's the same basic pattern over and over. But if you get behind the beat, it's tough to recover. That was just one that I tried over and over until it finally clicked in and I got it.
Just work on it and you will get it.

RTTH was a b*tch to pass on HARD, but when I did, I think I stood up and pumped both fists in the air in triumph!

You have to get that "galloping" beat down, but when you do, then rest is do-able. Experiment with different hand combinations and find the one that works best for you. I do it like this....R-L-R, R-L-R, R-L-R, R-L-R Your right hand goes back and forth between the snare and the tom on the 3rd hit of each triplet. You can just grab your sticks and practice that pattern when you are just hanging out watching TV and it will get ingrained that way. Start slower and build up speed.

Heh heh. Back in High School our band used to cover RTTH. Even though I was the singer I practiced drumming this one on our drummers set. I was able to get it down pretty good after a while.

Yep, RTTH on Hard had me for a while too. It's one of those 'rites of passage' songs when you pass it!

Another key thing is to make sure your red drum is actually picking up all of the notes. If not, that can kill you on that song. Take it into practice and really watch if all of your hits are registering. When you have to go that fast, you might be losing some, and that will kill you on RTTH.

After that, you can try the tape mod, sock mod, etc for good results. But if you really haven't checked your red drum yet and you're stuck on RTTH, now would be a good time to do so.

When I was stuck with RTTH on hard, I 'felt' it, but just couldn't do it. With my current obstacle of DOA on Expert, I can't really even grasp the pattern.

Of course, it does give my 5 and 2 year old lots of joy with my failures at 11% or so, as they love dancing around and yelling 'YOU FAILED!' at me...

My 5 year old also does this mean, butt waggling mosh thing to 'Shake.'..

great point. I actually had to put a thick rubber band around my red drum to get all the notes to register before passing RTTH. I forgot about that.

Rumor is that they will also release the complete album of Rush's Moving Pictures. Since Tom Sawyer and Limelight covers are already available, I'm guessing these would be master tracks. "Red Barchetta," "The Camera Eye," and playing the drums in "YYZ" would be pretty damn sweet. Plus, and this is saying a lot, Geddy Lee's voice is 100 times better than the guy they got to cover him.

I also like that three of The Who tracks are from Live at Leeds. Moon was blistering on that album.

I have to hand it to Harmonix, they have done a great job providing content for the game.

The DLC does seem MUCH better than anything related to GH. Hopefully that will change with World Tour.

Since I'm here (and no one has responcded to my thread), does anyone have any recommendations for a wireless PS2 GH guitar?

Has either RB or GH ever had a Triumph song?

I never really liked the sound of Daltry's voice and didn't dig Townsend's guitar playing style. Just one of those bands that I never really "got", even though I acknowledge they were a major piece of rock and roll history. Much prefer Zep, Aerosmith, AC/DC, Clapton or Deep Purple.

It's especially cool they pulled tracks from Live at Leeds, because I think that's the best live performance ever recorded by a rock band. I can't wait to download these and try them out this weekend.

I can give you over 100 bands I prefer over The Who. It's called "personal musical taste" and everyone's is different. Technically, they were great musicians.....John Entwisle was a brilliant bassist. Keith Moon was a monster on drums. Townsend a guitar god and Daltrey a great frontman. But I just didn't like most of their songs, what can I tell you?

Lots of my favorite all time bands wouldn't be on everyone else's list, but that won't stop me from enjoying them. For example: Collective Soul, Live, Pretenders, Nazareth, Rory Galager, Night Ranger, Nantucket, Rockpile.
Most of these bands could never sell out an arena, but I could care less.

Ummm...obviously I know that was just your opinion. And I thnk I understand the concept of 'personal music taste'. I was just pointing out my opinion that it's scary (to me) that someone preferred Deep Purple over The Who. And I like Deep Purple.

If they did a Zeppelin's greatest hits pack I'd be all over that.

Well I finally beat Run to the Hills on Hard. It has totally rejuvenated my interest in the game. I checked my red drum pad Web and it wasn't the problem, I was. I ended up trying Jack's advice and got comfortable using that rhythm even though I'm left-handed. The Heavy Hitter achievement is one of my greatest gaming achievements since I really feel like I had to earn it. Now let's see if I can get the AN-I-MAL!!! achievement.

Congrats! That solo part is tough too. I have to go try that Cars entire album I downloaded a while back. Sorry to say, I don't think Zeppelin will ever give their approval. They are notoriously stingy about that kind of thing, but have been a little more lenient in their recent golden years. It's quite ironic, since they ripped off many artists without giving proper credit, to get where they are.
