The NFLs DTV deal pisses me off alot more than the one they have with EA.
They are keeping that Sunday Ticket package from the vast majority of their customers/fans which is just plain f***ed.

Unless you live in an apartment...they aren't keeping it from you. You just need to get DirecTV. It's available EVERYWHERE that doesn't have some stupid homeowners or apartment complex telling you that you can't have it.XXXIV wrote:The NFLs DTV deal pisses me off alot more than the one they have with EA.

I could always move to the DTV

Actually, I think Madden just set a high bar for itself. Once it reached like 5 million copies a year, it's hard to repeat that every year.JRod wrote:Madden relative drop in sales says one of three things about exclusive licensing.
Either EA Sports missed the boat and the expected influx of new customers weren't there because sports gamers bought both. And that number of customers that only bought ESPN NFL, that EA had hoped would switch to madden, was so small that it wasn't really enough to offset the costs for the licensing.
Or two, the sports game market is in decline. One could argue that the lack of competition allows consumer to rent, buy used, or skip certain sports games. Since there isn't true ground break innovations, gamers can be more selective, when getting the "roster updates with a few selling point features."
Plus it's competing with other games and other forms of entertainment for what people spend on leisure.
People feared that the exclusive license would make EA Tiburon complacent. Maybe it has.
But there's no guarantee they will sell 5 million units a year. If they put out a subpar product, by November/December, when a lot of spending occurs, a poorly-received edition will suffer in sales, especially close to Christmas when there will be other high-profile titles out.
Does that mean they improve the game every year? Unfortunately, it might mean they work on superficial things which garner the most PR hype. You know, like the vision cone thing while various aspects of the AI and old issues remain broken.
It's like putting out a Ford with the same old chassis and power train but they offer body styles with air dams or ground effects on the same s*** car. Or offer new colors and sucker buyers in.
It's easier to sell the flashy, surface things. When Microsoft or Apple comes out with a new OS, most people notice the new GUI elements or fancy effects like widgets and not the kernel improvements or file system changes -- the stuff under the hood.

Everywhere than can see the southern sky...so yeah, it's time to move. I've got a condo...I told em to f*ck off...put up a dish anyway. They can't legally prevent you from doing it. You just have to have the sack to fight them on it. FCC passed a law about it a couple years back.XXXIV wrote:My condo association keeps it from me...and its NOT available everywhere.
