A good long video interview from over at OS. I have to say that from everything I have seen this is the only football game that has me excited for this season.

Except, unlike Playmaker and FBPro, it won't be coming out on the PC. At least that appears to be the case at present.

The game seems tailor-made for PC gaming (detailed scouting and roster management, designing plays, answering "emails", etc all would seem to work well with the mouse and keyboard mechanics), but for some reason EA isn't even going to bother with porting NFLHC 09 over to the PC platform. Yeah, the original PC port of NFLHC 07 was lackluster, but at least it was available on PC.

Still, this game has more of my interest at this point than the latest Madden and NCAA current-gen releases. If they haven't fixed the rampant "Pick 6"'s from last year's game, I'll pass on NCAA and get Madden - if only so I can get NFLHC 09 with it.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hoping that EA's strategy in packaging the game with Madden is to penetrate the mainstream football gaming audience - and not because they're essentially throwing a half-baked head coach game out there. Maybe if NFLHC 09 is a success, they'll move the "Madden" brand title over the the Head Coach game and re-brand the arcade football product as Madden himself hasn't actually been "in the game" for a while, at least as a color commentator.

No I'm very interested in the game. I just hope they fix the madden issues. And I'm weary about EA and their football games. :)

The only thing I didn't like from that video is the guys said if you're doing really well you may get a surprise like so and so injured his finger at a BBQ.

I am hoping it was a poor choice of words and that he just meant random s*** happens and not that it happens when you're doing well.

Hand on reports and draft video at Pastapadre

I'm so god dam giddy for this title, I have built it up too much in my mind there is no way it can deliver now.

I'm really looking forward to it as well. I never played the first version. I was out of town on business and by the time I came back it was being panned pretty hard on the forums so I was able to resist.

I saw a lot of promise in the original Head Coach and was very disappointed they didn't release it last year because I thought they totally abandoned it. I'm very hopeful with everything Dan has been posting (thanks mate) and knowing that they took the extra year to get things right has me encouraged as well. I'm getting the Madden deluxe package for sure just so I can save the $10 or $20 bucks since I was getting this anyways.

If this ends up being good.. I'll skip Madden all together.

I still miss my FPS Football days and I was hoping to fill that void two years ago when the first HC came out. To me, the extra year was definitely needed and it appears they did a lot to improve the game.

I'm optimistic, but if this game makes a 360, it will the only console football game I need.

Few more videos on Pasta's site.

http://www.pastapadre.com/2646/more-foo ... #more-2646

I liked to see the over throw in the game play vid and the fact they are showing scores from around the league.

The guys in the on the fly play creator move to slow though it is annoying watching it on video, I can imagine how bad it will be to use.

I hate getting caught up in videos.. but I'd lie if I told you I wasn't thinking about the collector's addition. 8O

Madden actually looks "fun" in those videos. We be interesting to see more as August starts creeping up on us.

Danimal, thanks so much for posting all this info. I have to say I have really changed my mind on HC. It sounds like EA listened to the players and took a lot of steps to make a good product. Still have to see if things like AI and the interface are good, but so far it sounds very positive. I like that they defaulted to 15 min quarters with an accelerated clock.

Well thanks.

Truth be told a month ago this was the only thing I was interested in. Now I am curious about NCAA just because of the online dynasty stuff.

Madden I had zero interest in until I started following the dialog and changes being made from the EA devs over at OS. It's not going to be perfect, but someone I trust said it is fun and that is what I am looking for in a video football game.

End of the day I'll stick to HC for my sim fix, I just hope it delivers.
