I agree with PK. The driving model in ISI's 2007 BMW is the defacto standard. OTOH I still think Grand Prix 4 with the 2007 mod ranks as one of if not the very best offline experiences in a F1 game.

Have you guys tried the Detroit 2002 track? It's really sweet. I ran the Nippon 1.2 mod as well as the Super Clio Renault's. A fun layout and nice track.

OMG have you guys tried the F1 1988 mod for rFactor? Geezus is it sweet. The cars sound great, handle great and look great. I just downloaded the Jacarepagua track in Brazil. A 5 star mod for sure.

Man I love rFactor. Well worth the $29.99 I recently spent at Amazon. Oh and the rFactor devs recently said that rFactor2 might not make it out this year but they are trying.

Yes, at least a couple of us have. Two releases of it, at length, in this very thread. Glad to be of service

You're right, mind - top mod.

Ha, I knew you'd learn my name eventually!

In seriousness, though, the one thing that still grinds my gears with that mod is the starts. It's not so much that I can't get off the line (though I can't, but that's my fault, not the mod), but that the otherwise-excellent AI suddenly loses its way on certain tracks. Download Silverstone 1988, if you've not already done so, and you'll see what I mean; it's only a few weeks ago that I found myself driving straight under a McLaren as I accelerated through the gears.

I'll check out the Silverstone track. The only thing that's happened is I find myself getting rear ended by the AI but I think that's more my fault because i'm not as fast as they are. I've seen then go around me on many occasions.

What I like about the 1988 mod is that you want to go fast and you think you can but you will easily lose control and crash out, at least that happens to me.

Keeping control of the car is key in this mod. It's one of the very best mods i've had the joy of playing.

Adam how many cars do you put on the starting grid at Silverstone? I put 30 and every time without fail there's a massive pileup going into turn 1. Is this happening to you?

I have it where i'm last on the grid and just watch the AI take each other out at turn 1.

My rig is four years old now so I keep grids to 10 to hang on to a decent framerate. Yes, there is always, but always an accident going into turn one at Silverstone.

A new mod was released for rFactor. The cars are a b*tch to drive with a gamepad but they look and sound sweet.

Downloaded the Epsilon Euskadi today, along with the new Caterham and the Spirit of 76 mods.

Eager to give them all a go tonight.

Take care,

That is great news and good timing as it looks like he has just released rF Open Wheel Racing 2007 Season 1.20 which includes the 2008 Indy 500 carset. Sweet!

http://www.rfactorcentral.com/detail.cfm?ID=IRL%202007
Indy 500 Edition (Version 1.20) is released!

You will need to get this as we made some changes to vehicle structure to allow you to race ONLY the 500 cars in AI races.

Delete your old GameData\ICS\ first!!!

The vehicle filters and new vehicle files are being created as we speak.

With this, car files for the DNQ cars (Domingez, Giebler, Papis) are included. This also includes new gearbox covers for the teams who paint theres, for added realism.

Also, there will be custom vehicle files for all Indy 500 cars, to allow users to race against only Indy 500 entrants rather than the whole field (using the vehicle filters).

PS - While I completely understand IMS's legitmate and legal reasons in the past for protecting their license against free racing mods, it is great to see them embrace this one.

Don:

Thanks for the tip about the Indy 500 upgrade. Going to grab that tonight!

Regarding our tacit support, Mike has been a friend of the Speedway since he started doing our 2D and 3D spotters' guides and car renders for indycar.com and indy500.com about 18 months ago. He's a hard-working, good young guy.

Due to that relationship, we're helping to promote Mike's work without direct financial or licensing support. It helps his mod grow, exposes his livery work to more possible team clients, hopefully sells more copies of rFactor and provides another platform of exposure for the IndyCar Series, especially since we don't have a current video game.

A win for everyone, we hope.

P.S.: Did you get your rFactor activation issues sorted? I can try to find that thread at RSC about 1255 upgrades and rFactor activations if you need it.

Take care,
PK

Hey Guys,

I'm curious if anyone is running rFactor on a Mac via Bootcamp? I've got an Intel iMac.

Unfortunately no, rFactor is still reporting that I have used up all my reactivations. I did find the thread at RSC, in fact lots of them. The solution is to e-mail trymedia and ask for them to reset the activations limit. There are some posters in those threads that have waited days and weeks to be reactivated. I also have e-mailed ISI directly. Nothing yet. I may end up just re-purchasing, but I even found a thread where someone claimed to have done just that but since the e-mail address they used to register was the same as their previous registration it still had them locked out. So they paid for the game twice and still could not get in. The strange thing is that it is supposed to allow for 3 activations without any need for customer service to be involved. I have only re-activated once when I did a reformat and upgrade of my PC a year ago.

That's why I bought the retail DVD version. One thing you could try is using a exe.loader

That's how I got to run the game in the past. I'm using a nocd crack for my version since I bought the DVD from Amazon.com

Hi Guys,

I'm in need of direction to rFactor 101. It looks as if I will be purchasing rFactor in the next day or two. I'm not real computer savy so i'm going to need some resources so I can better learn the process of installing mods etc.... If anyone can provide me with a link to "rFactor mods for idiots" i'd appreciate it very much.
