OT: Any rod hockey fans?

Post by sportdan30 »

This looks like a great deal, and I'm tempted to purchase the following. It would look great and hopefully play even better in our basement. We're limited with space, so a pool table or air hockey table is out. I've got such fond memories of playing the cheap plastic one with my friends when I was a kid. This seems like something my son would really grow into.

Yeah, if he grew up in the 70's and 80's like us. It's the 00's...electricity is our friend.

I honestly thought this was a masturbation thread.

Now that I know what it really is my answer is yes. On both fronts.

Had a Stiga rod hockey set when I was a kid. Endless hours of fun until it was trashed in college, playing for beer.

Would love to get another one to play with my kids. Go for it, Dan -- you'll have tons of fun with your kids.

If I had 500 bones of spare change, this would be the ultimate rod hockey table:

Rubba, I'm right there with you man. I used to love going to the arcade and playing that one. It was always USA vs. Russia. I had the cheap version of the one pk posted and my brother and I played the hell out of it.

They are all nice an'all but you just cant beat a stiga im afraid.

Its has a lot of depth to its game realy which evolves as the players become familiar with each other or just better at the game.

Naw, the only real version of the bubble hockey was Canada vs the USSR. ;)

I remember playing my brother for hours in the arcade. It had a boo button that you could use twice. Brings a tear to my eye to think of the 1kbs sample sound of "boooooooo" playing inside the bubble, lol.

I'd love to own a superchex or something of similar quality. While the cheaper store bought versions might be OK, you really need the arcade versions to capture the whole experience.

Dan, go with the Stiga - there's a ton of players out there and it will be much easier to get parts, extra teams, etc.

These folks are great: http://www.tablehockey.net/. Actually there are a few dealers online I've dealt with and they've all been excellent.

I wish I had mine out here in the islands - I custom-painted a Wild team that was a thing of beauty.
