Cancer...
Tuesday I learned my father-in-law has a brain tumor. Wednesday he met with a neurologist and learned its cancer and he has several tumors in his brain. Yesterday also happened to be his 64th birthday.
Tomorrow he is having surgery. This has all happened so fast that my family is in a state of shock. There is no one on this planet that I respect more... hes simply a great father, husband and friend. I feel terrible that he has to face this. We're clinging to the hope that it's not metastatic. If the cancer started in the brain theres a chance they can treat it. If it has spread from another part of the body I understand that it's unlikely he'll survive.
I've always been the type to accept death - it's part of life. In this case, though, I'm really struggling with it. This man was a picture of health and has worked hard his entire life. If you had asked me a year ago, I would have told you he'd live forever. He retired a little over a year ago. I hope he pulls through... keep us in your thoughts and prayers.

Very sorry to hear the news Eman. A friend I've known since third grade just found out his father has esophogial cancer. He has months to live. I don't think anyone can ever prepare for such news.
It's times like this where I selfishly want to say pull all our troops out of Iraq and Afghanistan, and lets put all this f'n money we're spending to finding a cure for this deadly disease.

s*%t. I f'ing hate cancer after seeing what my mom recently went through. I'll be praying for your dad. Hopefully they can get rid of it and he can go on with life.
I'm hearing about way too many of these stories lately. If there's one thing we should be putting our money towards, it's finding a way to prevent or cure cancer.

No doubt. It is the greatest scourge to afflict the world's population, yet it doesn't seem to get the popular/media attention that some other ailments do.matthewk wrote:I'm hearing about way too many of these stories lately. I don't think there's a person who hasn't been affected by the disease in one way or another. That's reason enough to devote everything we have scientifically and monetarily to find a cure.
Take care,
PK

I'm in the pharma publishing business, and while there's no silver bullet, there are a LOT of promising cancer drugs in the pipeline for approval and release in the upcoming years. So maybe there's a little bit of hope on the way. But yeah, cancer is bad news, and is the #1 enemy of my family.pk500 wrote:No doubt.
