I'm not quitting yet on this team.

It's tempting to say the Flyers can't handle Malkin after his two goals last game, but the Pens hardly controlled the game.

Before Biron decided to gift the Penguins the game-tying goal, the Flyers were dominating play, outshooting the Pens 12-3 and thanks to a nice finish by Sykora the Pens were fortunate to only be down 2-1. That buoyed the Pens and led to a late period flurry of shots, capped by Malkin's heartbreaking goal with 6 secs left.

With that lead, the Pens just sat on it for the final 2 periods and shut things down. Neither team had many scoring chances the rest of the game.

The Flyers can definitely still win this series, as in all honesty this was the fewest amount of scoring chances they've yielded in a playoff game since shutting out WSH in game 2. It's hard to win though when you give up 4 goals on 12 shots. If the Flyers can limit neutral zone turnovers then Pens got very little sustained pressure, as evidenced by the lack penalty calls against the Flyers this game.

Also, the one area where the lack of Timonen was really glaring was the PP. The Flyers PP has been great in the playoffs operating at near 25%, but last night it was downright awful. This is where Briere needs to step as PK mentioned.

Mike Richards was a man possessed last night though, scoring 2 gritty goals and throwing some big hits. :)

I was surprised that Jones was on the top PP unit ahead of Coburn, and unsurprised that a Jones turnover led to Malkin's second goal. Maybe Stevens is trying to keep Coburn's minutes down by playing him on the second PP unit.

Ribiero needs to be suspended from Game 3 for that slash on Osgood at the buzzer. That was chicken sh*t.

Take care,

That was bullshit. Turco was punching Holmstrom in the back of his head all night. Ozzy taps Ribiero with his stick and he pulls that crap. I believe he won't set a skate on the ice for Game 3.

You mean whiffing on an open slapshot?

I agree with you--Coburn should definitely be on top PP. The fact that we have Randy Jones on top PP is total disaster. His game has come along and I think he can do very well in 3rd pair minutes, but the guy shouldn't see any PP time on a good defense, let alone top pair minutes.

typical goalie..

pulls a cheap shot..gets one back and rolls around on the ground like he got shot...

that chest protector is meant to stop 100mph slapshots....a smack with a stick...no pain...

that being said....he should have went back and punched him in the helmet...not a 2-hander to the chest.

I don't see Pit or Phi being able to hang with Det...

and where is modano?

Preparing for the Pucks Retirement Home. If you could bang Willa Ford every day, with no NHL road trips, wouldn't you? :)

I just returned from watching the video at TSN.ca and was going to type the same thing! Either suspend them both one game or leave it alone.

But if both play Monday, I don't like Ribiero's chances in the Retaliation Sweepstakes. :)

I like how osgood says that if he did butt-end Riberio, it was "accidental", although from what I can see, he cleary sticks his arm and stick in Ribiero's way.

And Osgood sold it like nothing else.... I play nets sometimes, and even my cheap-ass chest protecter would hold up to that "slash'......

The bottom line in this incident is that Wings have Dallas frustrated , their getting played off the park and although it was a better game for Dallas Wings are looking dominent.
They can win any type of game a team wants to throw at them. Defensive, offensive, run and gun, grinding it out in the corners, if they rattle Osgood you have a proud pissed of Hasek coming in to replace him.

Im real worried about my prediction of Dallas winning the cup

If Dallas could hit the net they probably would have won that game. That 4 on 1 chance where they didn't even get a shot on net was unbelievable. Great way to make a goaltender look really good is to not even force him to make stops. Looks like Dallas have been infected with whatever was afflicting Montreal.

Best wishes,

Wings won without "The Mule" last night. He is as hot as they come. Doesn't look good for the Stars.

The officials just plain suck ass in the Flyers game. Hatcher gets the gate for good defense on Malkin. F'n pathetic...costs us a goal. F'n joke. This is hard to watch.

Nope...they got that one right. You can't call that a goal. No evidence for it. The Hatcher call is a bit more reasonable after seeing the stick between the legs.

I disagree...That WAS a goal...They should have more angles maybe but we all know that was a goal...

EDIT: The Flyers really need Hatcher to play D with two guys out and all he is doing is gooning it up.

You are entitled to disagree, but by rule that cannot be a goal. How many angles do you need. Biron's glove was over the puck so you don't have the necessary "evidence" to overturn the call. Good call.

Bad Call!...If the ref on ice had called it correctly theyd have no choice but to make the right call. A goal.

Richards great play!!!

There is just no way the Crosby goal could've been overturned. Seeing the replays I think the puck was probably in, but 'thinking' and 'probably' are irrelevant. In no way were the replays 'conclusive', as in the NHL that has been always interpreted as a clear, unobstructed shot of the puck over the line.

I still say that Hatcher hooking call was a joke. Hatcher simply stood him up--that's textbook D. I'm not sure why the VS announcers watched the replay multiple times before the ad and said it was bad call, yet after the commercial they come back with a replay from the same angle and say it was the 'correct' call. Hatcher in no way made a play with his stick, and he clearly did not 'restrain his opponent' with it, which is the rule. It just so happened that after a clean check the stick happened to be in between his legs. If that's hooking there would be about 10 hooking calls a game.

Not that it makes any difference at this point. The refs are going to continue to miss calls as apparently interference isn't a penalty for either team tonight.

And my hatred for Malkin is beginning to grow after he butt-ended Briere in the face. That's simply a dirty play.

I could definitely see this one going to OT, particularly if the refs reduce the penalty calls. Neither team is creating much at even strength.
