Emerick isn't fit to lick Gary Thorne's boots. At least I get to hear Bill Clement doing color commentary on Flyers broadcasts now Versus has kidnapped Keith Jones.

Thorne can be just as annoying as Emerick with all his shouting but id go with Thorne and Clement aftermost Canadian duo's i like the more classic approach kinda liken it to the English footy announcers.

A classic Hughson call: 'Grrreeeeaaaaat saaave Luongo! Substitute BobbyLou with the goalie of your choice and this guy adds that extra spice in color commentating. Along C. Simpson they are a wonderful duo to listen to in HNIC.

It's crunch time in DAL, another OT is in the horizon between these two teams.

I think I saw the puck there at the San Jose player's feet, so it seems like it was a clean but devastating hit.

Besides C. Sarich's monster hit on P. Marleau during the 1st round, B. Morrow's hit on M. Michalek at the end of the third period was equally bone crunching for SJ. If they win in OT, Nabokov is the reason they'll go to game seven, he just robbed Richards of a sure goal. Reviews of the play show the huge glove save but he puck may have even crossed the line by a fraction of a hair, they ruled it inconclusive.

What's up the the low camera angle in Dallas? When the puck is along the side boards closest to the camera, the bottom part of the screen is the backs of the crowd's heads. Detroit seems to suffer from the same problem, but I haven't noticed it in any other arenas.

I always wished you could watch hockey games from a vertical camera angle. Maybe it wouldn't work in practice, but that's how I've always played hockey games going back to EA Hockey on the Megadrive. :)

Joe Thorton is so overrated. He had a turnover right in front of turco in the 2nd ot and didn't put it in. If you're a superstar, that should go in and end the game.

Sharks another disappointing year. This team should have made at least 1 cup final the last 3 years, but they always seem to fall short.

That glove save by Nabokov in the first OT was ridiculous, almost matched by Turco a few minutes later.

Take care,
PK

One nice plus of the Conference Finals: No teams west of the Central time zone. Excellent for us East Coasters, so we don't have to stay up half the night for some OT specials.

Take care,

Given the context and the quality of the shot Richards got off, I think that is one of the best saves I've ever seen.

It wasn't some hopeful dive where the goalie is lucky the shot finds his glove in an otherwise gaping net, but Nabokov got across the crease with his pad covering down low and his glove covering higher and ate up a strong shot by Richards. Incredible stuff.

I agree, Naples. Very good analysis, man. Nabby knew exactly what he was doing.

R. Wilson's days should be numbered. Congrats to DAL and to both goalies who played their hearts out to take the game to 4 OT's.

Good point, James. And as time passes, is the Joe Thornton-to-San Jose deal really going to be deduced as one of the NHL's all-time worse trades?

How far has San Jose progressed since making that deal? It only went one round further than Boston this year and has been a perennial postseason underachiever since Thornton arrived.

At least Florida has sucked since dealing Luongo to Vancouver in that lopsided trade, even if Vancouver hasn't gone very far since Louie arrived, either. But Boston is improving under Claude Julien, and San Jose is stuck in postseason neutral.

Take care,
PK

Though the Nabokov save was better, it did remind me of another great OT save in Dallas several years ago. I know you remember this one PK.

Looks like Pens are gonna make it in the finals just as Bettman / NBC want. I know Bettman wants the NHL to become the NBA so I won't be surprised to see a lot of bullshit calls on the Flyers in the Pitt/PHil Series.

I think Pitt is good enough though that they don't really need any calls going their way. Pitt probably will be in the next 2-3 finals anyway and probably win at least 2 cups in the next 5 years.

Let's wait until the puck is dropped for Game 1 before Flyer Nation's conspiracy theories start spinning at full tilt, eh?

Could it be possible that the Penguins could win the series because they're the more talented team? Of course not, according to Flyer Nation.

I think the pens are good enough to beat the flyers. But don't be surprised to see a phantom penalty if things don't go right.
