The kit and 64mb memory card together from Amazon (used), ran me $45-$48 total.brendanrfoley wrote:Mizzou, how much did that transfer kit run you (if you don't mind me asking)?MizzouRah wrote:I'm kind of happy.. Sometimes I wonder about HRs too, at least the pitch locations where they hit them from. At the moment, I have tweaked down CPU power 5 clicks (from default All Star) and upped CPU hit quality 5 clicks, to try to get them more hits that AREN'T homeruns and get them scoring on hits.
It seems to work, although I'm going to keep my eye on things and tweak more.....

yea sometimes i feel the game gets HR crazy. The last 2 games i played i had 8&9 total combined, which i feel is a bit too much. I have the power turned down a bit already but the quality is up some, i was thinking of downing that.
Overall I feel some games are just more "active" then others, almost as a pre determined influence.

Finally downloaded some rosters and started my franchise this weekend. Still some things that bother me about this game.
1. Some games are just too dark.. doesn't look right to me, especially vs last year where I thought the lighting was perfect.
2. Still too many hr's. I know some hitters can take low fastballs out of the park.. but I'm seeing way too many. Almost feels like the game is scripted somewhat. That's one thing I do love about The Show.. hits seem much more realistic.
3. The slow jog and sometimes almost stopping when OF's catch for sure out pop flys.. really looks weird.
4. I hate the no suspense HR's. As soon as the camera pans to that low view you know it's a goner.
5. The game just doesn't flow smoothly.
6. It's funny how you turn off the ticker and it still shows updates.
There is alot to like about the game, but after finally really getting some playing time this weekend, I still think 07 had so much going for it, that they might have changed too much.
Great job to 2k sports for the new pitching and throwing mechanisms, I REALLY do like both of them. I hate saying this so early.. but I can't wait to see how it might? all come together next year.

But thats just it.... every damn year we like the games but always say hope they get it right this time, well guess what they never do.
What would be the best idea is maybe give us one more patch for a few bugs fixes and then thats it. Let us tough it out next season with just roster updates. That way they can take one whole year off and design the most perfect baseball game. I could live with that.
MizzouRah what are you using for sliders??

I'm just trying various from OS for now. Pro or AS defaults are not that good, imho.kicko wrote:But thats just it.... every damn year we like the games but always say hope they get it right this time, well guess what they never do.

I am using that SFgiants guy thats posts his on the 2kforum, i think they are pretty good with the exception of the few too many HR's
The HR's i give up are mostly do to my pitching, my 4-5 starters are just not worthy. For that i will bump up the pitching difficulty up.
For mine i might just have them pitch less strikes, either that ot lower my contact. Perhaps both.
I feel the same way but if i can minimize the damage, i will
I remember last year we played with the power sliders all the way down.
The funny part is i can get better stats sometimes out of a 5 inning game in the BIGS.
I like my baseball fairly realistic, but it does not have to be perfect, what it does have to be is FUN.

I've been playing exhibition, but since I was waiting on rosters, it had been awhile since I actually sat down and played some games. Finally started my career and had played about 6 games over the weekend.TheGamer wrote:Todd, you went south on this game pretty quickly.MizzouRah wrote:Some games just have way too many HR's - sliders be dammed!
I'm still playing it for what it is, but I've turned my attention to The Show on the psp for a more "serious" career.
I have some great games in MLB 2k8 and then I have a game where myself and the CPU team hit a combined 10 HRs... that just kills the enjoyment for me.
I'm still playing on default and have not given up mega hr's. I still get a believable amount by the cpu. I get a good variety of games which is pretty much all you can ask for. I am using the Giants in one Franchise and their starting pitching is pretty good in the game so the hr's are not as much. I am also using the WSox in my other franchise and their pitching is ok, and I get a believable amount of hr's from power hitting teams. I do hit more HRs with the Wsox since they got Thome, Konerko, Dye, etc.... where my offense is punch and judy with the Giants since they don't have any big hr guys. that is fine since it reflects real life.
Well, the other thing that bothers me is some hr's just feel kind of scripted to me.. meaning, the game has pre-determined X batter is going to get a HR no matter the pitch. Some of the HR's I'm now seeing don't match where I put the pitch.
The stats overall have been decent, I'm not just feeling the same with this game as I am The Show on the psp in relation to pitching and hitting.
Does anyone have a fix for the fielder walking in quicksand as he goes to catch a pop fly?
