Indeed, but I can't leave all the scoring up to you dancing-with-the-ball pretty boy forwards. Every time I score or force a save I get the defense to leave more space for when I deign to pass laterNaples39 wrote:

PS And here I was feeling extra groovy about Davidson's win because of you, and this is the thanks I get... LOL

Then you should change the camera. The 'be a pro' camera is useless because it's way too hard to be aware of what is to your side or behind you, and when the ball is near your own goal the whole thing breaks down.Rodster wrote: I'm talking about the regular game mode Rob. I've tried Be A Pro and for the life of me I have trouble adjusting to the camera.
The 'pro' camera in the UEFA demo seems to be a little better, but the problems of not being able to see laterally or behind you still negatively affect the way you can play. It does make shooting better, though. Compared to the sideline camera angles, the goal appears to be bigger and the goalie smaller, so those longer shots from near the edge of the box (or outside the six yard box for some of us) don't seem so daunting.
I'm not entirely convinced the 'FIFA extra touch' or the chest downs inside the box are really gone, because as Rob has mentioned the better players in FIFA08 already do that stuff less often than the average players. I still think the biggest problem with the engine is the 'ball ownership' thing, and that doesn't appear to have gone away.
I didn't know there was a separate camera for the "Be A Pro" mode.Zeppo wrote:Then you should change the camera. Thanks Zeppo !
Just back from a weeks skiing in Panorama BC!
I've tried a couple of games with the demo and am definitely liking what I see so far. Speed has been increased a bit but the pace still nicely mirrors the real game. Really like the tightened up controls as well since this makes the game a good deal more fun to play. Looks like some of the runs of teammates attackers are a little more intelligent than in FIFA 08 and that also helps.
I'm still not seeing anywhere near the creativity in opponent AI attacking that you see in PES 2008. Also keepers still seem to be a bit slow to come out when you hit the button to bring them out. But to be fair it's difficult to really comment on the AI as the demo is set on semi-pro. I think Zeppo nailed it with his comment on ball possession - still has a bit of a scripted feel to it.
Looks like I'll definitely pick up the final version unless something really gets screwed up in the interim - the game is going to be released earlier in Europe so we should get a sense how the final version compares to the demo.
Best wishes,
Doug

Indeed. I've learned enough from the demo to know that I'll be buying this on release day, and to know that it's a bit more than just FIFA 08 sped up a bit, but I can glean very little information on the AI from a demo that seems quite happy to let me run upfield and score with my goalkeeper.dougb wrote:But to be fair it's difficult to really comment on the AI as the demo is set on semi-pro.

Awesome demo. Shame we have to wait until May for its release. The improvements over FIFA 08 are there, I love the new presentation style, seems like it fits the EUFA 2008 event well. The cut-scenes are amazing compared to FIFA 08, very life-like. Seen as FIFA 09 probably won't be hitting the shelves until October I'll grab this one in May just for all the new features.
It was great - although they haven't had that good a year for snow there. We lucked out with 15 centimetres of snow the day after we arrived. Scenery was absolutely breathtaking and we had some terrific skiing.fanatic wrote:Sorry to get off topic...but NICE! Just played a game of be a pro mode and wow! - can't wait to play the captain your country mode. Game's almost seems better in be a pro mode than regular mode.
Best wishes,
Doug

Finally got to try this demo and I really like it! It plays so much like real soccer compared to the pinball like ProEvo. The pacing of the game is perfect and the controls are smooth. ProEvo is easier for me to manuever and get into space, but UEFA is more rewarding and has more of a "fun factor" IMO. When does the full game come out?
Edit: just found out release date is 5/19

Sadly, still no world whether you can play OTP outside of the co-op Captain Your Country mode.

They released a demo of the PC version and there is also a demo "extender" so you can play the demo as long as you want.
I tried the demo last night and it seems like a different game than the 360 version, but not in a good way. The game has a "pinball" like feel to it and seems much faster. Also, there are no "meters" for passes and shots, like in the 360 version. The control also doesn't feel as "tight". It's not terrible...but just "different". This kind of reminds me of NHL08 for the PC and the 360...........2 different games entirely. Wonder if EA did the game thing with EUFA?

Sounds Promising!!!

"I have and love pro evo gameplay but admit that seeing FIFA this year the overall feel looked better than previously yet i resisted.
I had this demo and bought the game immediately - is fantastic, the pro camera is a great addition and captain your team really is engrossing (you have to out score players on your side, either online or CPU to get the captancy and keep it through tournament, nice addition)
Its the graphics and sound, weather and stadiums etc that complete the look - fantastic.
Gameplay is what its all about though and again this comes up trumps.
The AI is very good compared to other footie titles.
Teams do play differently - eg away games against a poor side they will have backs to the wall and defend - not easy to rack up the goals even then.
Commentary is fantastic - andy townsend is the new commentator, seamless and cant think of an annoying repetition or the commentary being out of sync with the gameplay at all - there is usually.
I realise spending £40 3 times a year is a bit much but this is very good game - cant really compare benefits if you have FIFA08 already but if still on Pro Evo and wondering if should then would highly recommend - Pro Evo's not been out the box for 2 weeks now
Graphics are very good however, no better than Uefa champions league( think a better game) With offical licence very immersive. But love the dynamic v2 camera on uefa champions league -its not present her!!!
Ive always been a huge Pro Evolution fan ive owned them all but I have been bitterly disappointed with the last two efforts on the Xbox 360 In my own opinion Fifa 08 took the lead and now EA sports have released Uefa Euro 2008 I downloaded the demo a few weeks before the release on both my 360 and PS3 for some reason the 360 version is much better and doesn't suffer from frame rate slowdown. So if like me you have both consoles go for the Xbox 360 version.
The Demo was superb and I couldn't wait for the game and when I got it and put the difficulty level up I was hooked. After a few games with some of the big teams I started a qualifying campaign with my beloved Northern Ireland v Iceland and it was tough the AI is vastly improved you really pay for any mistakes you make around your own area I took the lead and then they really came at me and equalised. I ended up winning 4-1 after a few very late goals But my next game was as you would expect a defensive back to the walls effort against Spain a team we beat 3-2 in Qualification but sadly I went down to two late goals.
The game play was superb the graphics on HD are stunning When you play in the rain it really gives the effect of a miserable rainy night. The commentary is very good perhaps the best ever. Be prepared for some hard fought games.
This really is a big step up from Fifa 08 as for Pro Evolution the gap between UEFA and it is now as wide as the Grand canyon Many fans of Pro Evo will be in denial about this but Play this and go back to it and it would be like getting out of a Ferrari and into a Reliant Robin It saddens me to say it because ive had so much enjoyment from the Pro Evolution series over the years but this game Knocks it right over the ropes out of the Football games ring.
Don't hesitate to buy this game it's the Best football game ever and if this is a taste of what Fifa 09 will be like. I cant wait.
UEFA Euro 2008 is by far the best football game available on the XBox 360 at the current time. Whilst it is developed by EA, the same guys behind FIFA 08, and uses the same engine, the engine has been very much improved on for this release.
Power Bars etc. are all now used to give you more control over your shots.
There are a number of modes to keep you occupied throughout, and you can work your way through challenges to unlock past European Championship finals.
Only downside I had with the game was the loss of Andy Gray on commentary, they had someone else do it instead of him.
simple.......its the best football simulation ever made..pes08 isnt a sim of football its 5-5 arcade madness....im reveiwing the full game..the demo was good but not this good...gameplay is great...my early games predictably were england qualifiers...great moment was away at macedonia being whistled loudly every time in possesion.exellent atmos..notice how the bum teams give you a good game on their pitch and then fold on your ground brilliant stuff...so long pro evo for the time being........
This game is simply amazing and much better than FIFA 08 which is also argubly a brilliant game however im judging by the demo and not the real game but there shouldnt be that much difference between the two. Euro 08 is better than FIFA 08 because:
Custom celebrations - When you score a goal you move the right thumbstick to do custom celebrations which is pretty fun.
Weather effects - There's rain on the demo and hopefully there's stuff like snow etc in the proper game.
Better passing - there's now a power bar
Better shooting - more accurate and precise, when you hit full power it doesn't fly into row Z
Better graphics - the cut scenes of managers show the depth of true next-gen
Better commentary
