I dont understand why we are still talking about "choppiness"?
It's not even an issue anymore. All you have to do is sign out of your
XBL Profile. Sometimes I forget to do that and I don't even realize it until the 4th inning or so. If people are gonna focus on the choppy thing, they just wait until the patch comes out or go play The Show. I dont know what else to say.

I won last night and am now 2-1 with my Braves franchise. My game last night was perfect "video baseball". I had the right number of hits, a few HR's, I drew 3 walks, gave up 2 walks, the ball to strike ratio was good (70%), the AI even stole one base and I just immensely enjoyed my game. Glavine got 9 K's in 7 innings and was keeping hitters off balance with change ups and slow curves. I have been tweaking some more sliders and they seemed close to perfect last night, but we all know better than to just sliders on one game.
My only negatives with this game are....
1) contact is too easy. I only strike out 3-5 times per game. I have raised pitch speed a little and raised AI change speeds a little, to keep me more off balanced. I am a little leary about lowering my contact slider, because it might spoil the hit variety. I can live with this flaw, but will continue to try and work this out some more.
2) AI doesn't steal enough. I did see one SB in my game last night. But that was the 1st in 3 games.
3) AI sometimes pulls starting pitcher too soon. They have a quick "hook"!
4) Catcher calls wacky spots for pitches sometimes. e.g. "High and outside change up"??? This isn't so bad cause you can always reposition him and throw where you want.
thats about it. really enjoying the game so far.

Jack, there are times where I have played with no VIP, and there STILL IS some stutter, mostly noticable on throws across the infield. For me its' no big deal, but for some I can see it might lessen their love of the game.JackB1 wrote:I dont understand why we are still talking about "choppiness"?

If they can deal with it, that's great, if not, so what? Everyone is entitled to their own opinons.......

Same with me. Even with VIP off, there is some stutter when throwing across the diamond. It reminds me of last years game before the patch. I'll also try to turn off that score ticker on the bottom of the screen thru the XBL settings. I don't really care about any NFL news in March.Gangrel wrote:Jack, there are times where I have played with no VIP, and there STILL IS some stutter, mostly noticable on throws across the infield. Also is there a way to turn off the score bar on top of the screen?
I agree everyone is entitled to their own opinions. Lets hope 2K comes out with the patch soon and this issue will be a distant memory. If you like the gameplay, you should stick it out until the patch.Inuyasha wrote:Same with me. Even with VIP off, there is some stutter when throwing across the diamond. I've downloaded all of them. At 1080p with VIP off, there is barely any studder.. but still a little bit.TheGamer wrote:has anyone downloaded any of the stadiums or jerseys that are available on the marketplace. Have you noticed a difference since then? Could 2k have snuck in a patch through those downloads like they did last year with some other downloads?
I doubt they would throw out a patch and not tell anyone, espeically since the framerate has been talked about quite a bit.
My new TV arrives tomorrow, it will be interesting to play this game, going from a 24" monitor to a 46" LCD HDTV.

When I first got the game, I had to switch to 720p, because 1080i was unbearable with the stutter and the colors seemed washed out. after the VIP fix, I switched back to 1080i and the stutter was reduced tremendously and after I downloaded the content, the color was back to where it should have been.
MizzouRah, let us know how the game looks on your lcd. there were some posts over on OS about the framerate not being as good as a crt.

i dont notice any difference between 720 and 1080p. I knew that after the smoke cleared we would begin to see what is what. 2k7 needed hella tweaks and a patch and it was very fun to play. I fell 2k8 is a better playing game and i think needs less tweaking(did i just say that with a 2k game?) to make it playable.
I was over a buddy's house the other day and we played the show. Its a very nice game for sure but honestly we played 2k right after the show and ended playing 2 games in a row. We both agreed 2k was just more fun to play while the show was a touch more straight forward sim.
Jack I agree with most of your points:
with the catcher calling dumb locations i just use that as a chance to call the pitch off and select your own, thats real baseball
dont forget too that sometimes in the outfield you have to call off the other fielder so they did include small details.

Question... I signed onto Live and downloaded the update. However when I check rosters, Santana was still on the Twins. Was he not moved to the Mets on the update? Or is there something else I have to do to load the new rosters? I turned off the game and then back on, but didn't get the update prompt again so I know it got loaded on.
Thanks.
Rick
Thanks.

So I started a game and logged out of XBL account by pressing the middle button. Also, had gone into options and turned off the score ticker on the bottom of the screen and the updates popup's on XBL.
The game ran smooth! wow, it was actually fun! There was a very little stutter which reminded me of last years' game. I had fun with it! (I was playing in STL night).
Only problem for me now is I won't get any acheivements or cards or anything by signing out my XB account.
Jackb1 : what is the trick you were saying to sign out then sign back in after the game ends? I tried it but it didn't save anything for me.
Now there is some hope for this game. I was thinking all day why did I buy this POS game but now maybe it'll turn out not to be POS.
Still the one big problem with the game is atmosphere. But that's the way it's always been with this series. I am just happy it is playable right now.

This is why I won't even attempt to try the no stutter fix as I love getting achievements and I love the card collecting even more:) The stutter isn't awful on my machine though but still noticeable, maybe I've gotten used to it, who knows.Inuyasha wrote:Only problem for me now is I won't get any acheivements or cards or anything by signing out my XB account.

I'm still having a lot of fun with this game but now that the NCAA tourney fast approaching I'm feeling that itch to start up with CH2K8 again... not to manager mode in FIFA, and now I want to try Mass Effect, and continue leveling in COD4, and RSV2 comes out next week and.... and....
Microsoft and their 360 promo department should consider adopting the AM/PM slogan, "too much good stuff." It's true!

Hey mac...GREAT job on the review of this game. One of the best written, logital and fair reviews I have read in a long time. Major KUDOS!!!!
Can you still collect cards if you alter sliders? I thought you had to use default sliders to be able to get achievements and collect cards? I want to try the cards thing, but my current sliders are playing so nicely.macsomjrr wrote:

No trick really. I just sign out before I throw the 1st pitch and sign back in when the game is over and then save my franchise. Only thing I can't do are the achievements or the card collecting.Inuyasha wrote: Jackb1 : what is the trick you were saying to sign out then sign back in after the game ends? Glad to hear you are enjoying the game now! Things will start to click after about 7-10 games. I got beat last night 8-2 after thinking maybe it was too easy

Card collection and achievements work on tweaked sliders. When you twek them, you'll notice it says Custom-A or Custom-P or L on the tab. This means you are tweaking All Star level sliders, for example if you see an A. This effects the chances of getting the rare gold and platinum cards.JackB1 wrote:Can you still collect cards if you alter sliders? If you tweak certain sliders TOO much though, you may notice it drops from A to P (pro), so you have to be careful. You can't for example drop pitch speed down to zero, as that would move you into Pro territory I think.
Also, once a game starts, you can't tweak any sliders, or it forgetis your achievements (and cards I assume)
