Over at OS, they say the on PS3 version the framerate is horrible.

Also, they suggest clearing the cache and then doing the update. did this and I think the game looks great at 720p.

The daylight/nighttime progression is beautiful.

MY pitching got a little better, I gave up only 4 runs to the Cards through 7, had to pause the game for a little bit, came back and got shellacked. lack of focus?

my hitting is horrible, using the classic button swing. I have yet to hit a homerun.

fielding and throwing are great. appears if you don't have your player positioned correctly and balanced, the throws will go everywhere.

I tried the aerial camera, little too high for my taste, but of course you can see everything better.

cpu pitchers are very accurate at default settings. I have seen maybe 2 or 3 balls, but then I'm a hacker.

at least with classic swing, a quick button push will get you a check swing.

this game will get a lot of play time by me.

Did you try chaning the fielding camera angle to aerial like Mizzourah did? Perhaps that'll make the game more playable.
Yeah, not my favorite angle, but it's not bad. It did help my framerate a bit. It's certainly not unplayable, but it is annoying after playing The Show.

Like I said it's not a bad game, and I am going to keep it as a change of pace type game, but I really don't see myself playing this near as much as The Show.

I also see the potential for a really good game in the future. To me this is one of those "wait till next year" things. You can see the potential is there, it's just not quite there yet. Does that make sense?

Strange hearing about frame rate problems.

One of the developers posted at Beyond3D, claiming the X360 version was doing real well but they were having problems with the PS3.

Some other developers talked to him about delving into using the SPE units more and so the guy said by the end, the PS3 was close in performance.

But he said X360 was easier to get results out of and thought that would hurt the PS3 as most multiplatform developers won't expend the extra effort (although then there was discussion about parallel development or developing for the PS3 first).

There's talk on OS that the stuttering is caused by poor hard drive caching, and that by removing the drive the game runs smooth.... or by turning off the replays, cut scenes, etc. in the presentation menu.....

I haven't tried it, but would be interesting to know if that was the culprit, and if it's patchable.

I'm still getting stuttering at 720p......

It's a damn good thing I got a PS3 this fall...I cannot stand stuttering in my games. I should have my gamefly rental of this game tomorrow, so I'll get to compare...at least my expectations are greatly reduced.

Hmmmmmm....

I just cleared the cache on the 360, loaded up a game, and still had stuttering at 1280x 1024.

I then thought "why do minor leagues play pretty smoothly?" and realized that they don't have commentary.

It clicked when I heard the commentary in my nationals game and heard the drives going bonkers.

I chose the "in the stands" presentation default, no commentary, and guess what? It's not perfect, but most of the stutters are gone.

If someone else can try this and double check that I"m not just hallucinating.......

all this stuttering crap is disturbing. I don't want to turn off play by play or replays or use a camera angle I dont like and I dont want to disconnect my hard drive. This is utter B.S. that they can't make the game run smooth with the 360 out of the box.

The puzzling thing is that some people say the stuttering thing is overblown and some say it's so bad it ruins the game. I guess it depends on you monitor and resolution?

What good are all these damn new features if the game chugs like a steam engine locomotive?

I honestly don't understand all the fuss, it is not that bad, and only happens every now and then.

I only made it halfway through two games but the choppy framerate is way too annoying for me. I turned the commentary off and switched the game profile to a memory card and still no difference with the stuttering, even when hitting the a button to skip a cut scene there is a two second pause. Really like the aerial cam for fielding but the framerate kills the enjoyment for me.

i did see some stutter on the 360 but not nearly anything that will make me not play this game but i would be very careful on the ps3. I found the pitching hard as hell at first but i got used to it and now. I will pop back in 2k7 and see the framrate difference but i have to say i am loving the game so far, yes i know its early and this is 2kshorts.

ust played another game.

I helped mitigate some of my framerate issues by turning off Ball Trail (Which I hate anyway) and switching to Ariel View. I have really started to love that view on the defensive end. Really get a good feel for the ballpark, espcially on flyballs to the outfield. Framerate still lags at times, but it's managable at this point.

Really starting to dig all the analog controls. Just a lot of fun. Hitting is really rewarding when you turn on an inside fastball down the line. No complaints there.

Game is really fun. I don't think it's from a pure baseball simulation standpoint it's on par with The Show, but the game is fun.

The more I play the more I have fun with it. Again, don't see it being my primary baseball game, although you never know, but it is a good game, and I am having more fun with it, the more I start to grasp the nuances of the controls.

Ya and your point is? Who saw that we would see such issues like framerate past the 1st release of games.

there's also talk that signing out of your VIP, or signing off Xbox Live helps the stutters too.... Weird.

For me the chugging isn't a game killer, but it certainly might cause me headaches if i play it a lot...... Reminds me of when MVP05 first came out on the PC before they patched it.....

After playing over a dozen games, the stuttering is not that bad. I changed nothing in my setup at all, but I do run in 720 all the time. It reminds me of the stuttering that happened in last years game when the guys would throw the ball around the horn after a play. The more games I've played, the less it has gotten. It drove me a bit coo coo at first also, but it decreases over time. You have to give some time.

The only thing that is driving me bonkers is that sometimes during pitching, it doesn't seem to register my first stick movement, causing me to throw a meatball or more likely a wild pitch. I'm not sure whats causing it, as some pitches will act fine, and then the next inning the ones that weren't working are back to normal. Very strange. Again, I should probably check the manual to see if it's a pitcher fatigue issue or something else. Desn't seem to have any rhyme or reason, except that it never happens early in a pitchers stint. I wish there was some indication that it would happen though, but I may be missing something.

So far I'm lliking it, but the changes will still take getting used to. The biggest gripe for me so far is the pitching deal, everything else is fine. I'll try starting a franchise today to see how that runs.

When is the best time to start your step as the batter? I've tried pulling back as the pitcher is getting ready to release the ball, but usually get a late or very late step.

I try it earlier, and I seem to get an early step? I can't seem to nail down a sweet spot.

In the few games I played on All Star, I'm getting rocked, and also have hit about one hit every second game.....

Cue Ben Brinkman disappearing act, only to resurface briefly in five months to b*tch about some aspect of the game and show some faux solidarity with the gaming public, then back to the cryogenic freezing pod to rest up for the next round of hype and conference calls.

Good. I won't even consider this game unless the demo impresses me. Is it out for both major consoles (360/PS3)?
