If you've avoided the bugs and glitches threads how could you then say you haven't experienced any bugs?

I haven't had any issues with lockups, freezes etc that are being reported as bugs. I'm just noticing strange baseball behavior and figure that I would bring it up. Are we not allowed to point out odd behavior now? I'm sorry but a baseball game that doesn't record stats right or use a pinch hitter for the pitcher in game critical situations should be noted. Noting a problem is not hating a game BTW, I really enjoy the game I was playing RTTS all weekend.

I'll give it this it has the Cubs down to a tee. Considering my rookie 3B hit 367 in spring and was sent to Cubs double A and rode the bench. For a few weeks I got the occasional AB then finally got playing time and then a starting role. After 150 at bats in double A I was hitting .399 with 24 RBI's and 8 HR's, not to mention led the team in steals with 12. So what does the Cubs brass do in their infinite wisdom, they trade me to Akron, so I can now ride the bench at Double A for the Indians. 8O

Well considering the game isn't officially out until tomorrow and most people don't have it I would love to here you explain how it's a minority. I'd say maybe 20 or 30 people have it over at OS (or at least are psoting about it). Considering a good number of people have reported scoring bugs and lock ups I think your logic is screwy

Well the only HUGE bug for me right now is scoring when you win the game in the 9th. I had it twice now where I hit a walk off 2 run hr in the bot 9th to win the game, but the final score is incorrect. Instead of the score being 4-2 and 6-4, I get 3-2 and 5-4 respectively. The other stuff I can live with, but Danimal is sort of right that some of the baseball stuff is really odd.

It's still a great game. But I hope they had just ironed these things out.

Good point on the game not being out officially until tomorrow. But, there's also a thread dedicated to not wanting to see the bug/glitch thread. There's a first time for everything I suppose. Still, as you said, bugs and all it's a very enjoyable game. In the end, after a few weeks, I think you'll see the ones raising the most hell will be the minority. The others will be enjoying the game, bugs and all.

I would think this is something that could be patched pretty easily, but then again I'm not a programmer. Collision detection and gameplay specific on the field issues probably won't be able to be fixed.

Still, I ask, how often are there walk off homeruns during the course of the season? I honestly don't know, but it has to be less than a half a dozen times. Maybe I'm wrong. The only time it might upset me is if it happened during the playoffs or World Series. I'm not that big of a stats geek that a rbi here or there is going to affect me.

So Danimal, are you saying your the new Lou Brock?? :D In regards to the scoring, don't the official scorers only count the run(s) that gives the team the lead. Wasn't Robin Ventura's walk-off granny only counted as an double in that NLCS from a few years ago?

No, actually in that case, they never counted Ventura's run because he never touched home plate. He was mugged by one of his teammates at 2nd base and never made it to home.

I know the thread you speak of and I have not even looked at it, but have still seen people posting things in other threads, it is kind of hard not to see the posts.

People asked me to post impressions here and I did so, I don't even think I used the word bug, I think I said odd behavior. I felt like some of you were giving me grief for posting my impressions.

Hearing the same unfortunately. It took them a while last year to get it sorted out.

I apologize if you took offense. Hopefully you don't think I'm against posting negatives, as surely there are some things that are annoyances with the game. I just don't want people who haven't played the game to think it's a complete bug ridden fest.

Keep them coming Danimal!!!

I don't have a ps3, but I like reading what people here think about this year's game. To much of a love fest over at OS for me to wade through real impressions.

Ok well some more RTTS.

BK was right and you get points for fielding and base stealing etc. I didn't notice them at that screen because I usually blow by them. You also get negative point for things like hitting into a double play or blowing a goal. So getting points is really has a lot more meaning this year.

The goals you get for advancement are cool as well. So far its been a mix of improve this skill to here and also get 12 rbi's, bat .325 etc for the next 5 series. The advancement screen tells you were you're at with them and how much time you have left. I haven't blown any of them yet so I don' know what happens if you do, I do know that making them doesn't mean you will get advanced.

Stealing is much easier this year, I have a pretty slow guy and lead my team in steals, of course getting caught is -10 training points. So sometimes I have to balance if it's worth risking the points. Last year I just used the steal to get out of base running.

There are lots of cool new charts and screens in the menus of the RTTS mode, I find everything to be more intuitive this year. Also beware the beach ball, I've been picked off of second twice because i was mesmerized watching that ball bounce around. I'm almost at the half way point of my first season so the games still play pretty quick, especially if you're riding the bench.

Oh i finally got my first sign, so far it only happens when I was at bat. Both times they were hit and runs and one time I missed the sign and got a nice email about it.

I have a question for Danimal or anyone who has played RTTS regarding RTTS in MLB 08.

If you select a pitcher for your position in RTTS do you fast forward to the next inning if you don't have an at bat like what happened last year? Does the game allow you to watch your team at bat or does it give you a text readout of what's happening while your team is at bat?

Danimal,

Is the AI getting better at spotting your BA and promoting you. Or are you still deep in the minors even though you are hitting well?

Thought I'd chime in with my RTTS progress too.

I created myself as a 20 year old switch-hitting LF/RF and invited myself to Padres Spring Training. Did ok. Batted a little over .300, with 3 HR's, a double, about 10 RBI's and a couple of stolen bases. Of course I was rock solid in the OF. :D

I was impressed that our last Spring Training game was at the Big A up the freeway against the Angels, according to the real schedule. Of course it was all too much for a 20 year old rookie, and I went 0-4... Got a $89,000 contract offer and was sent to the AA Missions where so far I have a single in 7 pinch hitting appearances. Will continue my career soon...

My biggest wish for the next version of the game, is a snapshot feature like NCAA08. I'd love to be able to save a picture from a replay and then upload it for viewing, setting as my desktop background, etc. The visuals are just stunning.

I haven't played a pitcher but I doubt it has the option of watching your team bat. I'll try and check it out.

Well I am no longer riding the bench with Akron as I am now listed as the starting 3B, my average has dropped a tad and I am hovering between .360 and .380 but no sings of promotion yet. I have a feeling I a destine to languish in AA most of this season.

Now something I am seeing which I don't recall seeing in 07, and of course this could just be my imagination. I have a terrible time laying off the inside fastball, pitchers who have had success against me by using that always seem to bust me on that if they see me again. For example in one 5 game series this reliever for the Diamond Jacks who had this real funky delivery and some incredible heat would work me like a cheap suit, and always finish me off by going inside FB out of the zone. Like I said could be just a fluke or it could be some smart adaptive AI at work.

My biggest complaint about RTTS at this point is the load times, it take an annoying amount of time to enter and finish a game. So if you're not a starter and getting a pinch AB every day it takes longer to load and finish the day the nit does to play your part of it.

I actually have noticed that as well, but thought it was just my mind playing tricks on me.

I really like the training points/goal system this year.

I currently have a switch hitting SS playing in the Angels organization. I set my secondary position as IF, so basically I get a start at a different position almost every night. I have really enjoyed RTTS.

Got a few games of manage only in last night. Lots of fun. Haven't seen any statisical funkiness, nor managerial quirks yet. Hopefully I won't.

BTW, all the new animations are great, all the new stuff is great, but imo, in game saves are by far the best new feature of the game.

I hate to harp on bugs, but some of this stuff has me scratching my head. Is it my copy of the game?

I had guys on 2nd and 3rd with Andrew Jones up 2 out. He grounds to the 3rd baseman who bobbles the ball, but throws home to get the tag out at the plate. Then next inning i am at bat, andrew jones is At bat again!?!? Anyone have this happen to them?
