Danimal, if you are in the Addison or Elmhurst areas, you may want to check out the Walmarts there. If not, I'll probably be by there today at some point anyway and I'll check for you.

Those are a tad far for me to drive I live out in the Geneva area. I hope you find one though.

On my way to the airport, I stopped by quickly to a game store and while they were no PS3 versions, but they had five copies for the PSP. Perfect for my long flight.

Got my copy.

If you live in or around Elgin IL, then checkout the Walmart. About 12 copies left after I got mine, bottom of the glass case.

I know I am nuts I have the flu, drove 17 miles each way, pulling over to vomit but I have a copy.

I had to come up to use the bathroom so here is a 1 inning impression

It's awesome.

Ok seriously Sox vs Cubs

- Have to do the whole cache thing at the games first load again.
- Message says it is optimized for 720p and make sure you PS3 is set to that, I ignored it and left mine at 1080p
- Long load time for game to start

Soxs touch me up for 2 runs on a home run by Dye, noticed that from the stretch the meter is no where near as fast as the demo.

I hit a 3 run jack with Derossa in the bottom of the first. @ dingers in the first inning, I think i am on Veteran since I ddin't change anything.

Ok going back down to play some mroe and then try out road to the show.

I've only had a chance to play a couple games thus far, so these are very early impressions:

- Game looks gorgeous, however, IMO it has to be played at 720P. I tried it at 1080P and there was noticeable frame rate issues. It's silky smooth at 720P.

- David Wright threw over Delgado's head in the first inning for an error.

- In the sixth, Glaus let a ball go right under his glove for an error. Rolen he is not. But, I liked seeing that the fielders are not automatic.

- The beach ball might be a little over done. I don't really see them at Cardinal games.

- I wasn't able to save my exhibition game. Are they only in season games?

- Wainwright had a no hitter through five, and the commentary was great at building the excitement. At one point, they flashed the Mets box score. He then surrendered back to back hits. 5-1/3 no hit ball. Not bad.

- The game plays very similar to last year's. Again, it's not a knock against the game, but don't expect leaps and bound differences.

- There's just a ton of new animations. You really get a sense for the atmosphere and just the feel of being at the ball park.

- I haven't had any extra base hits as of yet. It's strange, but that is exactly what happened last year with 07. Then suddenly, I was getting two or three a game. So, I'm not worried yet.

- Anyone else noticing the outfield and infield arm strength sliders don't seem to work? A little concerning thus far.

- Is there a new roster update out? I haven't checked, but it's time to kick Spezio to the curb. Get some help.

- The presentation once again is just phenomenal. There's a mix of old commentary, but with many new lines sprinkled in. It's just awesome to hear your third base coach's name. It's subtle, but detailed.

- The crowd reacts appropriately. It'd be nice if they carried on a little longer, but it's still exceptional.

- I'm enjoying pitching from "behind the pitcher" moreso than a year ago. It just looks so realistic. I gotta figure out where I want my pitching settings to be, because I feel the help you get that's on default is a bit too easy. Then again, it's not THAT easy to locate your pitches accurately. There's a very good balance once again.

If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask.

All I can say is F*CK Target and their damn computers. They had it in the case...dude comes and gets it, goes to ring me up, and oops...can't sell it till tuesday. It wouldn't even let him ring me up if he wanted to. Oh well...guess I gotta sack it up and wait.

That's exactly what happened to me last night. Have you tried Wal-Mart?

When one of you guys get a chance, can you check to see if "classic" guess pitch is the same as last year? i.e. exact location of the ball when guessed right.I believe it wasn't working correctly in the demo.
Some over at OS are reporting walk off homers not correctly registering in the stats. Only the winning run being tallied. And both pichers getting credited with a win :? Those could be big issues with the stat heads.
Keep those impressions coming :)

Closest one is by my office which is like 20 miles away. Don't feel like driving out there today. I go there enough as it is. I've got stuff going on all night tonight so maybe I'll go tomorrow sometime. Target pisses me off...that's all. LOL.

I've only tried using the New guess pitch interface. I'll try Classic later.

Snaz, the classic guess pitch is the same as last year's. There's a New interface that's slightly different than classic.

Also, there is a roster update available. I know it adds Feliz to the Phils, and moves Lidge to the minors because of his injuries.

Thanks Sully...I prefer the classic as opposed to the new. That doesn't give you the exact location. My feeble 52 year old reflexes need every advantage they can get

Well I've played most of the afternoon and it's a really good game but......

it reminds me ALOT of the ps2 versions I've played the last few years. That's not a bad thing, but now I am questioning myself if buying a $400 system fro this one game which so far is giving me the same experience I had with the ps2 versions is worth it. Graphics are superb, but I am wonder what it'll be like when I get use to the graphics.

But so far the game is really nicely put together. Total package ala nhl08.

I just checked the Target and WalMart by my house (Romeoville) and neither had it.

I was just in Elmhurst this afternoon too. If I would have seen this thread earlier I would have checked out there.

I was at the Walmart in Addison and they didn't have it. Sam's Club didn't have it either. I don't have a PS3, just checking for my DSP neighbors since I was in those stores.

Walkoffs are screwed up. Valentin of the Reds just hit a 3-run walkoff to win it 5-2. The final scored showed 3-2. A solo HR was credited to Valentin, no runs scored credited to the other two guys on base, and only one run credited to Lidge. How do you miss that?

Lidge did receive the loss though.

See, I've been *this* close to pulling the trigger on a PS3 for just this game (and some Blu-Ray fun I guess) and now I hear this. I guess part of me is happy to hear things like this and part of me is pissed!

For a game that was starting to feel a bit samey after 5 years or so on the PS2, maybe I should re-consider.

If it turns out to be a consistent thing...that is big...But itcould/should be addressed with a patch.

Yeah, it's nothing crippling. I mean, how often do walkoffs occur? Still, I just don't see how they could screw up something like that.

Regardless, I'm in baseball gaming heaven right now. RTTS is amazing (I didn't put much time into it last year), and I've already started a season with the Phillies using the latest roster update.

I can understand you questioning a purchase solely for just this game. I admit that this game doesn't feel much different from 07. However, that's not necessarily a bad thing. In the end, it's a baseball game. How do you really make dramatic changes when it already plays a very solid game? Perhaps if I had played the series for the past four years, I might be a little hesitant.

I do think however once we get up to date rosters, and start a regular season, there will be more passion put in to each game. I can only play so many exhibition games, whether it be baseball, basketball, or football games. Plus, right now, it's still college basketball season for me.

ya the game is great, don't get me wrong. I think if you've never played a The Show baseball game this game will floor you on how tight it is. the graphical upgrade is amazing and the solid gameplay is still there. One thing I love about this game though that wasn't in the ps2 games was that feel of authenticity when you hit the ball. The crack of the bat is just pefect, I don't know how to explain it really, but it feels like you're really playing real baseball.

actually let me clarify that I spent 200 plus tax on the system since I had like 200 bucks of TRU credit saved up from Xmas returns. So with being a baseball nut and this game coming out, I just didnt want to miss it. For 200 bucks for a ps3, i think most ppl would have done the same.
