I enjoyed that and the mini-game that they had on The Show 06.
Unfortunately it has been confirmed that the ps3 version will NOT have Home Run Derby this year. They were on a short development cycle (game released late last year) so they didn't have enough time. I am pretty sure we will see it next year though.

Yes the Hall of Fame level is like High Heat in that you have 9 zones to swing through. I would guess that if you were a fan of High Heat you will love this game. I know I was and do.

It's 18 degrees outside, there's a foot of snow on the ground, but at work right now we've got the Tribe's first exhibition game on the radio. All is right with the world!!! :D

Just think, by opening day it will be 38 with only 6 inches of snow left! ;)

LOL!

Yeah, last year's Home Opener in April got snowed out, so what do they do this year? Move it up to March 31, of course!

Oh well, I still can't wait, regardless of the weather. We had a blast last year! And afterall, it wouldn't seem like Opening Day if the weather was too nice. :D

Game Crazy has the release date posted on their web site as yesterday (2/28). Anyone checked to see if it dropped? I doubt it but just curious.

There are some people over at OS who have the game. No luck here in St. Louis though. Game Crazy told me next week as well.

I should be home around 8pm tonight with the game. I'll post some impressions at some point between here and OS.

A buddy of mine in Philly found it in North Jersey, some mom and pop store. I just got home with it about a half hour ago.

I was going to ask this over at OS but screw it.

How's the strike zone this year? Hopefully the pitch counts are a little better and it's harder to throw in the zone.

What's your issue with the strike zone? I'll try to elaborate on it if you tell me what your issue is. It appears to be the same as last year. I do like how certain pitchers will have a little more bite on their pitches. For instance, Brad Lidge throws a hard, nasty slider. In last year's game, the pitches appeared to have a little bit of an arc to them as they approached the hitter. That's not the case this year. Lidge's slider comes out of his hand hard, like a fastball, and has a nasty bite on it as it reaches the plate.

As for the pitch counts, I've always used classic pitching and see realistic pitch counts in the majority of the games I play. I only played two games tonight, but I had Hamels in the upper 90's through 8 innings. He had allowed 7 hits and 2 ER, while striking out 7. I was able to run Pedro into the 80s in the same game without showing much patience at the plate.

As for the actual gameplay, there really isn't anything earth-shattering here. Not much has changed in that area over last year's version, and you pretty much know what you're getting yourself into. It's just the amazing amount of attention that the SCEA team has put into the little things that stands out. The immersiveness of the overall experience is second to none. As silly as it sounds, you really feel like you're watching a real life MLB game unfold. The atmosphere, the sounds, the commentary, the gameplay...all top notch.

I did attempt to play an online game, and noticed some lag. It wasn't nearly as bad as last year, but it's still unacceptable, and I imagine it'll only get worse.

I haven't touched the RTTS mode yet, but plan to put some time into it tomorrow. I'll check back in then.

Sully, I believe JRod is referring to the overly large strike zone(especially on low pitches) that has been a small thorn in MLB's side for a few years.....resulting in fewer walks.

The walmart here has it, but not sure if i want to go out this late to pick it up. Hopefully it's there tomorrow which i think it will be since baseball games don't sell like hotcakes.

Yep, too big of a strike zone.
