Unfortunately it has been confirmed that the ps3 version will NOT have Home Run Derby this year. They were on a short development cycle (game released late last year) so they didn't have enough time. I am pretty sure we will see it next year though.jLp vAkEr0 wrote:Any word if this year's version will have a Home Run Derby?
I enjoyed that and the mini-game that they had on The Show 06.

I was going to ask this over at OS but screw it.
How's the strike zone this year? Hopefully the pitch counts are a little better and it's harder to throw in the zone.

What's your issue with the strike zone? I'll try to elaborate on it if you tell me what your issue is. It appears to be the same as last year. I do like how certain pitchers will have a little more bite on their pitches. For instance, Brad Lidge throws a hard, nasty slider. In last year's game, the pitches appeared to have a little bit of an arc to them as they approached the hitter. That's not the case this year. Lidge's slider comes out of his hand hard, like a fastball, and has a nasty bite on it as it reaches the plate.JRod wrote:I was going to ask this over at OS but screw it.

As for the pitch counts, I've always used classic pitching and see realistic pitch counts in the majority of the games I play. I only played two games tonight, but I had Hamels in the upper 90's through 8 innings. He had allowed 7 hits and 2 ER, while striking out 7. I was able to run Pedro into the 80s in the same game without showing much patience at the plate.
As for the actual gameplay, there really isn't anything earth-shattering here. Not much has changed in that area over last year's version, and you pretty much know what you're getting yourself into. It's just the amazing amount of attention that the SCEA team has put into the little things that stands out. The immersiveness of the overall experience is second to none. As silly as it sounds, you really feel like you're watching a real life MLB game unfold. The atmosphere, the sounds, the commentary, the gameplay...all top notch.
I did attempt to play an online game, and noticed some lag. It wasn't nearly as bad as last year, but it's still unacceptable, and I imagine it'll only get worse.
I haven't touched the RTTS mode yet, but plan to put some time into it tomorrow. I'll check back in then.
Yep, too big of a strike zone.pigpen81 wrote:Sully, I believe JRod is referring to the overly large strike zone(especially on low pitches) that has been a small thorn in MLB's side for a few years.....resulting in fewer walks.
