The irony is, it seems most fans want to see the 1-2 superstar team where most everything feeds through a couple of players than a team that depends on all its players to win. There´s no other way to explain the fact that Detroit gets almost zero support outside of Michigan. Now there´s a team that gets nowhere if it has to rely on just one or two great players. (Even with the wonder that is Big Ben; I mean its not as if he generally puts points on the board.)
That said, I do like the NHL playoffs better than the NBA. But then I just plain like the game of hockey better. However, I do think Wilbon (PTI on ESPN) has a point when he says that in the post season you should just rename the game, "Goalie."

I´m alright with the idea of one player stealing a game or two in the post season, but in the NHL, a hot goalie can hijack multiple rounds of the playoffs. That´s a bit much. Then again, I´m a jilted Wings fan so take that sentiment for what it´s worth.

Both the NBA and NHL playoffs are long and aggravating enough in their usual endless, monotonous incarnations. To make them even worse this year, one or the other is perpetually pre-empting Baseball Tonight!

Does the NBA playoffs seem boring to you?
There´s no question one of the reasons behind the NFL´s popularity is its almost-perfect schedule format.

Sixteen regular-season games, almost all on Sundays. Every game is meaningful, and the games have almost an episodic quality to them due to almost all being played on Sunday. It´s Sunday, so it must be time for the NFL.

Plus the playoffs consist of four weekends of single-elimination games. That´s nice and compact. I love hockey, but like Rob said, nine weeks of playoffs can be a bit much for some.

The NCAA Tournament has similar qualities to the NFL playoffs. Three long weekends of single-elimination hoop bliss. Compact, dramatic, awesome -- especially when Syracuse wins.

The thing is, I am sure the NBA Playoff games are very exciting this year. I just cannot seem to become interested and haven´t been for some time now.
