I thought the first 2 episodes were good. First one much better then last nights, I find it funny people are determining the whole season based on two episodes.

I'm not going to argue with the same people here again this year who dislike the show. I will say to call this the worst episode ever is just crazy, perhaps you forgot the whole Nikky / Pablo episode. :D

I've really enjoyed these last two episodes. I personally loved the "What is the smoke monster!!" line. It's still the only show on TV that I'll remember to make time for.

Walt was mentioned last night...word is Michael (Walt's father) is returning in an episode also...as a bad guy. Again, just rumor.

Yeah, there's no definitive answers to the mysteries of the island, but things are happening fast. I'm not sure what else people expect.

Nikky and Pablo ware probably the shortest-lived main characters in the history of the show. Probably. Ultimately, they were buried alive in the beach by Sawyer while they were under the influence of some paralyzing poison or magical mumbo-jumbo, so everyone thought they were dead. I'm not entirely convinced they are actually dead, yet. I mean, they were buried alive. . . .

I think they were an episode or two shorter-lived than the teacher that blew himself up at the Black Rock.

You can come to that same conclusion on your own, provided your television has the ability to change the channel.

Spoilers

Great stuff again last night. So it appears that future Ben is waging a war against the forces that sent the freighter (Dharma? Widmore?) and using the losties left on the island to manipulate the Oceanic 6...or at least Sayid. At the very least it confirms that pretty much all concerned have come to see the island as a place that should be protected, kept secret or (in Jack and Hurley's cases) a place to get back to.

The rocket experiment was cool, clearly showing that the island is in some sort of time-space wrinkle, adding to speculation that the island is a Axis Mundi of some sort. That could also be used to explain the healing events as well as the aging situation. Not sure how it ties into the pregnancy problems.

Lots of great online speculation surrounding the names Faraday and Minkowski, which seems to make sense:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Faraday_cage

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hermann_Minkowski

On the other hand, I thought the Sawyer-Kate scene was ridiculous but made up for by Hugo's "another Sawyer" crack about Miles.

Also much speculation that Ben's spy on the freighter is Michael.

Agreed Rob...great episode.

It further confirms that Sayeed (spelling?) is the best character ever to grace the show.

My favorite as well. Just looked it up: Sayid Jarrah

There are also now three predominant theories about how 815 ended up on the island. They may not all be mutually exclusive:

1. Desmond didn't press the button and the electromagnetic disturbance drew in the plane.

2. Ben needed a surgeon and somehow engineered the crash, knowing (from Jack's dad?) that Jack would be onboard.

3. Oceanic intentionally arranged to have the plane find the island.

So we're going to find out that the flash-forwards are indeed current-day, and not 2004? Because time moves quicker off the island?

Nice! I would lean towards #2 or #3.

I also want to comment on how the "flash-forwards" of this season are far more engaging that the "flash-backs" in seasons past. With the former, we get a tonne of insight into the story on the island and how everything unfolds. With the flashbacks however, I always felt that while it provided some nice insight into the past, it was more of a distraction than anything.

The fact they showed that Ben somehow survives was was a bit of a bummer. Just kill the a-hole already...

The flashbacks are all about character exposition, nothing more. Flash-forwards, however, are obviously all about plot progression, foreshadowing, and dropping hints that seem heavy with import. There is a serious danger, however, that flash-forwards can kill all sense of tension in the plot. Knowing now that Ben is alive in the future is just such a case. It's sort of like the old movie serial problem of everyone knowing the hero will survive despite how desperate any cliff-hanger ending of an episode may be. Lost has consistently bucked this trend with conviction by killing off numerous favorite characters, seemingly willy-nilly.

Given the show's track record, I'm not entirely convinced the future we have seen in the flash-forwards is the only future.

Fun episode, though. But they seem to be doing everything they can to kill my affection for Hugo. First, he's too gutless to talk about the cabin to anyone, and then they use him like a cheap extra to screw over Sayid and that group. He's shown flaws all the way through, but somehow I've been able to forgive him because they balance that well with his demonstrations of courage and empathy. So far this season, he's just a big wet noodle and I'm starting to hate him. 'Sorry, dude.' Ugh.

And yeah, i do like Sayid, but he's maybe the lone 'favorite' left, not my overall fave. So long Boone, Eco, Charlie, others I probably can't remember. Especially Eco.

Indeed, if there is a time-space anomaly of some sort going on, there's nothing to prevent them from being concurrent realities :)

Maybe that Quantum Leap dude will show up or Bobby will come out of the shower....(80's references for $400 Alex!)

Regardless, until the show 'shows' it's some kind of Dual world junk, the forwards are becoming a suspense killer.

Yeah, but to be fair they are sort of trading one source of suspense for others, at least so far. Still, I do think they are walking a fine line. But hey, why should that ever change with this bizarre show?

It's still shot in Hawaii, and still one of the best looking shows in HD on TV. And they still have Evangeline Lilly in the cast.

I loved the flashbacks, and I'm enjoying the flash forwards. It's all just stories, so I just dont' get why everyone gets so bent out of shape about not getting "answers" or elements being distracting or unnecessary. It's fun to play spot the clues and connect the ridiculous dots into some sort of Escher drawing of a plot LOL
