I got the 42" 1080P when it went on sale for one day at $999. I'm very impressed with the brand of tv. Can't wait to see how The Show looks on it. Movies look fantastic by the way.

I also grabbed the Blu Ray copy of Blade Runner and watched that. The picture was just stunning. Even with a non-1080p plasma, I couldn't get over how sharp everything looked. I loaded my older DVD of Blade Runner and there was just no comparison. However, I was impressed with the upconversion of standard DVDs. We watched a couple of episodes of Lost Season 3 and the picture was even better than the Sony upconverting DVD player I had been using.

I probably won't play any games on it until The Show comes out in a few weeks, but overall I really like the machine. I feel like I'm getting the most out of my plasma now.
You should at least check out Uncharted. It's well worth the rental, if not a purchase.

I have that TV and love it.
My dad (Spanner 216) has that tv also and loves it. I have the 42 Vizio and its my main gaming tv and its pretty damn nice! I am quite impressed with them and MAY buy another one when its time to move the 42 to the bedroom. Their new 47" 1080p looks impressive!

OT: Are Vizio's the brand of TV's that are sold at Walmart? What's the smallest TV that'll do 1080P?

I am tempted to look into a new HDTV with this check coming from the government. My 46" Sammy DLP has a great picture but there is a noticeable delay from controller to the TV. In most games it not THAT big a deal but with a timing game like baseball its a killer. I love playing The Show on my 46" but the delay makes it impossible to hit. I can't tell you how many times I have been on a pitch only to swing late due to the delay. I mostly play on my 22" HP monitor but its just not the same as laying on the couch playing on my 46" Sammy.

P.S. I have tried everything with the DLP...game mode, etc. and the delay is still there.

Agreed...It's an amazing 10 hour ride that really shows off what the PS3 is capable of. I can even see myself playing through it a second time somewhere down the road.

Walmart is a reseller, but I wouldn't get it there. The Vizio that they sell there is a slightly stripped down version of the TV (no PIP, no Zoom, etc) and it's all black. If you have a Costco near by...get it there. They have a warranty on them right when you buy it, for 2 years (1 year factory, 1 year costco).

The smallest 1080p by Vizio is 42". They really are an OUTSTANDING value...I just wish I had gotten the smaller one (32")...but ehhh...I'll live.

Thanks no Costco near me but it might be worth the drive. What's the cost of the 42" Vizio 1080P?

Not so fast DB, My 42" from Walmart ( i wanted all black) seems to be a better model then what is sold at Costco and Sams (720p) I have PIP and FOUR zooms, also my menu has more options than the other 42" 720p's including more picture adjustments. I am not sure about the smaller tv's and would have to look at my dads, but mine is NO WHERE near stripped down and actually has MORE.

My only complaint so far with the PS3 is the usb charging cable. Is there a longer one? Can't wait to get home and get some more time with it. Oh, I also won auction for a Dual Shock 3, and got Motorstorm on the cheap (19 bux)

Pick up a cheap USB extender cable and you're golden.

Wish I would have known that when I placed my Monoprice order LOL

One thing for you guys looking at TV's to consider is that Sams, Walmart and Costco all have 47" 1080P for right around $1400.

The VW model (second link) is the TV from Walmart, the other one is sold at Sams and Costco.

Do you guys think its worth renting The Show 07 or should I just wait and have my cherry popped in a few weeks LOL

Go try a 37" or a 32". Those are the models I was talking about...cuz they are the only models I looked at. Not to mention the 1 extra year for the Costco version makes the silver vs. black bezel debate simple to decide in my eyes...regardless of the size you decide on. So my comments still are true.

I'd wait. I rented 07 when I got my PS3 for Christmas...played it a few times and it's just sitting there now. I'm sure I'll play it a couple more times before 08, but I'd have rather it be brand new.

Agreed...I rented it too...played it for about an hour
then put the experience on hold( other fish to fry... though it was soooooooo smoooooth...) til 08 is released....

08 is something I am looking forward to in a big way...

Don't forget that you can use the same USB cable and charge your PS3 controller from computer instead of PS3. It is so much more convenient because I leave my computer on all the time and charge up the controller when I am not using the PS3.

can the controller still be used while plugged in the pc/laptop? I know its probably pretty far fetched, but it would work NICE if it did work that way as my laptop is close to me all the time when i play. Oh and I am browsing and typing this from my PS# :)

Yes I've played with it while it's plugged into a laptop nearby.

You have to press the PS button to re-pair with the PS3 but it works.

The first one looks like a great TV, and I have a BJs membership so I could get it there. But we have to get a new car and a new apartment before summer so I probably won't be able to get an HDTV till the end of the year.

Good comparison of Blu-Ray vs. other HD sources and upscaled DVD.

http://ilounge.com/index.php/articles/c ... omparison/

I think they took photos of the Bravia screen.

Maybe in motion, you don't see the subtle detail differences but you might note big differences in motion artifacts, especially since something like AppleTV HD movie rentals are using 5 Mbps bitrates compared to 30 Mbps typical for Blu-Ray.

Funny, the seeming wave of PS3 purchases by DSP'ers after the holidays. What was it? The Warners Bros. announcement?
