It would be a rare Jagr sighting this season if he does indeed bring it.

The breakaway.
The fact that 50% of my 12yr old kids team can do the michigan or throw a glove first to distract goalie and then make a move or one of several other funny things on a breakaway drill just showed me how un imaginitive the players were, and Nabakov coming out to the top of the circles to stop any move the shhooter was even attempting didnt help stupid idiot.

The goalie shot was fine me and my son enjoyed it and showed that it isnt easy.

All in all it is what it is i dont think it hurts the game.

Edit : The Kings suck worse.
Yeah, well obviously I'm being a little harder than I should be, it's just that it's constantly going in the wrong direction.

And your Kings beat us 5-0 a couple of weeks ago, did they not? It hurts even worse when your team is supposed to be the premiere hockey club in the world and does absolutely nothing for years on end.

Possible Stanley Cup Finals preview tomorrow night as the Flyers take on the Ducks. It will be great to see the Flyers playing a good Western team, instead of yet another divisional game.

Very slim possibility though, because while the Ducks must have at least a 20% chance of getting back to the Finals, I think the Flyers have a 2% chance. I love the depth at forward, but the defense is just too suspect - currently allowing 32.7 shots per game, 28th in the league.

MVP, MVP, MVP.

It's been great watching this team evolve over the last couple of months. Young guys like Nicklas Backstrom, Mike Green, Tomas Fleischmann, and Alexander Semin mixed with veterans like Viktor Kozlov, Michael Nylander (although he is out for the season), and Tom Poti.

It's a fun team to watch ever since Boudreau took over. Ever since the fire sale Caps fans were distraught at Ted Leonsis. Now, the team is starting to win the team back.

I'm not hearing nearly enough of a chorus for Bruce Boudreau to win the Jack Adams Award. The guy has been close to a miracle worker in D.C. That team was in the sh*tter and going nowhere when Hanlon was fired.

The only guys who are doing a comparable job are Gretzky in Phoenix and Trotz in Nashville. Gretz's success is well documented, and Trotz has kept the Preds competitive despite the fire sale of players last summer when the team's ownership was shaky. I'm also impressed with the quietly effective job Claude Julien is doing in Beantown.

Boudreau should be mentioned as one of the leading candidates for the Jack Adams right now.

Take care,
PK

Somewhat of a homer, but amen PK.

I really think the front office doesn't get it's due, either. There is a ton of young talent on this team, and a few prospects in the AHL waiting in the wings for their turn. Kozlov has been a solid pick up for us as well.

I do hope they get serious about a playoff run and try to pick up a another good center to throw in for Nylander. And keep Clark off the A.O. line

Yeah, a real head-scratcher, especially since Souray could be on the shelf for a while with the recurring shoulder injury. I know that Lowe and MacT lamented the team's lack of grit after the embarrassment against San Jose, but Glencross?

The Oilers' biggest problem now is that it has one line. There's no one on the second, third or fourth lines for opposing defenses to fear. And even though the first line of Hemsky-Horcoff-Penner is formidable, the team still doesn't have a pure sniper, either.

Plus Horc hurt his shoulder against San Jose and didn't play tonight against Dallas, and Hemmer has a sore wrist. Stollie's back also is hurting. Oh, dear.

Take care,
PK

Huge victory for the Oil last night, a 5-0 pasting of hated Calgary. It was vital because the team could have tanked after learning earlier in the day that its top player, Shawn Horcoff, was lost for the season to a shoulder injury.

Instead, all four lines played responsibly on defense and with a ton of hustle and grit in the offensive zone, creating multiple scoring chances against the f*cking Flames. Plenty of toughness, too, as Stortini fought twice, and Moreau and new boy Glencross also fought. Moreau's scrap was especially satisfying, dropping them immediately with that c*cksucker Phaneuf after Phaneuf took a run at Cogliano.

Gagner looked quite crafty on the first line and on the power play, as his PP goal was a beauty of a shot through Penner's screen. Not bad for an 18-year-old. The Oil had three power play goals, too -- bonus!

Making the playoffs will be an even longer shot without Horcules, but if the Oil does find the postseason, last night's win will be looked upon as a turning point.

Take care,
PK

I forgot to mention it already, but it was pretty cool seeing the Toronto Marlies playing on Saturday night, well it seemed like it was the Marlies at least. Robbie Earl was a forechecking machine, and it seemed like that type of hunger spread to the rest of the team.

Playoffs are all but a lost cause at the moment (but I'm sure the Leafs will make it real tight at the end of the year just to give me something else to be frustrated about) but at least the young players are getting some ice time, with all of the injuries. Tlusty on the first line is absolutely frightening at the moment.

It seems like Fletcher is staging tryouts for next year's team.

Even more frightening than the Web video of his penis hanging out while surrounded by men?

Sorry, couldn't resist that one. :)

I never did work up the nerve to check that one out, and I'm sure that you only "heard about it" and that you don't have it backed up on your laptop.

I think Belak's defence of him was classic: "... everyone's been caught with their pants down".

Hopefully the Leafs can get something going against FLA tonight, but my hopes aren't too high.

The kids played well enough to steal a win in DAL but in the end VAN fell short in the SO. Seven rookies in the lineup, a D that's missing five regulars and an offense that creates more chances than what it converts, make things tough for any Canucks' fan these days.

This is an amazing race in the Western division for the last couple of spots to make it in the playoffs and I wouldn't be surprised if it'll be decided in the final day of the season.

And unless some of the injured come back soon, 'Nucks will continue to have it tough these days.

Well, that was quite the beatdown of Toronto at the hands of the (sigh) Florida Panthers. It actually was more of a joke towards the end of it, with my friends and I laughing with each passing goal.

You know something's definitely wrong when Matt Stajan drops the mitts. After the fight Salei seemed to feel bad for fighting him and the referee was cradling Stajan's head like baby Jesus.

I wonder if Sundin was allowed to waive his no trade clause during the game. I half expected when Maurice called a time out he was going to draw out on the chalkboard where all of his players were being traded to.

Absolutely disgraceful.

Air:

If the Leafs want to guarantee drafting Stamkos at No. 1, Raycroft should play all 60 minutes of every game for the rest of the season. :)

Raycroft allowed four goals on just 11 shots last night. The dude is shattered.

To Raycroft and Toskala's credit, just about every goal was a deflection or tap in and I doubt either guy felt like "stealing" a game after the D forgot they weren't in the pre-game warmups. I think I saw more intensity at the all-star game this year, save for guys literally fighting for their jobs towards the end of the game.

Here's a shot of what we did for Belak at the Leafs-Red Wings exhibition game in September. I forgot to post it up. I'm the 'L'. We actually made the jumbotron, we e-mailed Belak and he said he saw us and he thought it was the best thing ever, and then he added the picture to www.wadebelak.com immediately. Obviously, we think we're awesome.

The sad part about Leaf nation is that the fans were cheering every Panthers' goal after the fifth one and they were hoping for a double digit loss.
