Brady will probably still get one or two more rings before he's done.
NE will pay Moss what he wants, whereas if they won, they might not have ransomed the whole franchise. If they give Moss big money, they will gradually have to let some other good players go.
Even if NE won, it would have been another one score win. Maybe NE hurt themselves trying to look downfield early in the game, looking to light up the scoreboard.

Typical sore loser behavior by this New England squad. It is easy to hoist the Super Bowl trophy, but they've displayed poor sportsmanship a few times when they've had to taste defeat. Hopefully the media starts calling them on it this time.Inuyasha wrote:wco81 wrote:THEY DID IT!!!!
Bellichek leaving early with time left in the game.
Typical.
Brady and Pats leaving to the locker room w/ 1 sec left.
I guess NY is going to start loving Eli now.
I don't think Brady played that badly - we just saw what happens when the defensive line takes away the running game and gives the quarterback no time to throw. Great performance from Giants D - that's gotta rank up with the Buddy Ryan Bears or the Ravens Defense from a few years ago.
Happy to see Tom Coughlin get a win, considering how much s*** he's taken in the past.
Best wishes,
Doug

Ya, that NYG defense was the only 'real' defense I've seen all year. Very old school like those teams you mentioned.
18-1 will go down as the most amusing record in NFL history. Way to stay constipated for 18 games before shitting the bed, New England.
Seriously, congrats to the Giants. Terrific defense against the best offense in the NFL and a solid game by Eli. Dallas and Green Bay on the road and then the Pats in the Super Bowl -- that's a hell of a run.

It's always a treat when the Super Bowl fulfills its name. What a terrific, entertaining football game. I didn't think the regular-season finale between these two teams could be topped, but this game did it.
The Giants completed their game plan perfectly. Ball control, minimal mistakes, another great game from Eli, timely running, great pressure on Brady all game.
Two observations from this football moron:
1. San Diego got pressure on Brady in the AFC Championship, and it was effective. With Tuck and Strahan on the defensive line and a corps of aggressive linebackers for the Giants, why weren't the Patriots better prepared for the inevitable pressure that was going to be thrown at Brady? The Pats' offense just looked ill-equipped to handle the Giants' relentless pass rush and linebacker blitzes.
2. Much like Green Bay with Favre in the NFC Championship game, the Pats relied too much on Brady to win the game. The New England running game, which had been effective at times during the season and postseason, was missing in action. I know Brady put up the greatest numbers of any NFL quarterback in history this season, but I would think that the Pats would attempt to run more in a game in which their QB had guys in his face nearly every time he lined up in the shotgun to throw, which occurred on most downs.
Hey, I had the Giants +12 and under 53. Double win to end the season! Good thing, as I had a crummy fall of football wagering.
A fantastic finale. Thank God for the NHL and motorsports, as I'm really going to miss the NFL, as always.
Take care,
PK

1. I think NE was looking to go downfield, knock the Giants out early. Brady wasn't taking the dumpoffs and the underneath patterns to Welker in the first half that much.
A couple of times he tried to pull the trigger on the bomb but didn't have time to plant and deliver. He looked downfield more in this game than in both of the other playoff games combined.
Moss was often getting good releases against a shaky NYG secondary but the Giants were able to get to him before those longer routes could develop.
2. Against Jax, they were running against a nickel defense most of the game. A soft nickel defense which often rushed 3 men so they were more pliable for those draws off the shotgun.
Against SD, NE probably didn't think the Chargers could score enough to beat them so they were content to go to heavy run formations.
Tonight, Giants didn't get sucked into playing nickel. They got burned by Welker, who often had a LB in front of him, but they didn't give up cheap rushing yards. They also blitzed up the middle a lot, giving their linemen chances to go one on one most of the time.
When the Pats scored their go-ahead TD, they just tried to fortify the middle of the line and let the DEs rush wide.

The champagne will flow freely both in NYC and Miami. Congrats to the Giants. I also thought the Patriots would have something more up their sleeves, but it was the strength of the Giants interior pass rush that kept the Pats at bay. New England tries a little trickery on their first play and gets snuffed out. I thought that set the tone for the whole game. Brady clearly was not on his game too, but the Giants were consistently in his face. Not a Giants fan, but you have to tip your hat to them.

That was do or die.spooky157 wrote: That Eli Manning to David Tyree play on their final drive may go down as one of the greatest plays in Super Bowl history.
And Eli came close to getting sacked or fumbling a couple of times that drive.
Then he had one where he threw backpedaling and it was tipped by a DB ad Tyree almost came down with it too.
Pats fans could say it was luck but the game wasn't suppose to be a one-score situation where luck beats them.
Just watching the post game interviews and got to hand it to Brady, he's answering all the questions in the loss. I guess it's not his fault the media hypes him up, but he came up really classy at the post game.
Bellechek was an ass, but he's that way win or lose, so at least he's consistent, got to give him that.
