Hot Shots Golf 5: Out of Bounds news and info
This is my second most anticipated game of the first quarter, behind MLB The Show '08 of course.

The following may or may not get added for the US version. I'm hoping it does though.

Gaming Age calling it a strong contender for game of the year? That's a little far fetched, but here's some more info.

No, I'm not offended whatsoever, but it is more sleezy looking than the Japanese box art where they went with a more cutesy look. The American box art reminds me of that one golf game that was a bit off the cuff....can't recall the name now, but I think it came out a few years ago on the Xbox.dbdynsty25 wrote:If you're offended by that box art, you need to get some thicker skin. Sheesh.
Game looks f'n amazing though. I'm with ya...it's my 2nd most anticipated PS3 title.
Either way, it doesn't detract my excitement for the game. I'm hoping we get a demo sometime soon.

Kind of confused about the description.sportdan30 wrote:IGN's hands on impressions of online play...

You play with other players and tee off and putt at the same time?
So balls are ghosts or do they collide?
Looks like no voice chat and just virtual keyboard to chat. Sounds like they ported the online features from Japan. The PS2 versions of the game used to have pay-to-play online component in Japan.
They have lobbies to encourage community but the communications options sound really hobbled.

It is certainly going to eliminate the collectors of games. No one is going to have a library more than 4 or 5 games deep with installs that size. You simply can't play that many games without deleting the installs between games. The 20gb early adopters, even less.Danimal wrote:I just read there is a mandatory 5 Gig install with this one just like with DMC4. Yikes not liking this becoming the norm.
So I can't just meet up with a friend or two play a round of golf with them and have voice chat going?
Not liking that at all. Oh and what is up with the mandatory 5gb install? I like the fact that every PS3 has a HD and I'm all for the developers taking advantage of that fact, but complete installs? C'mon now.
Couple of design decisions here that are making me scratch my head.

5GB and a twenty to twenty five minute wait to play a game I just bought.
That's f-in stupid. So there goes what we've all been accustomed to wrt console gaming. We no longer have the luxury of opening the case and playing. Now we have to sit and wait for 20-25 minutes while the game installs just like a PC gamer.
The only thing missing from Sony's approach is a no cd crack...geez.
So Heavenly Sword needs 2GB, Devil May Cry 4 requires 5GB from what I understand and HSG needs 5GB as well. Well DMC4 went from a PS3 to a 360 purchase pretty quick and i'm thinking about whether or not to buy HSG:OB after this news. I may just wait for Open Tee 2 on the PSP instead.

A video of how the shot system works, and also a video of online.

Looks great, but I'm a little bummed the game retails for $60. I was hoping for a $40 price.

A fairly unbiased review from ps3fanboy.com. Quite informative as well. The initial install is 3.6 gb.
Also, someone posted that the game will be $50 this week at CC. While I think the game should retail for around $40 or $45, $60 in my mind is a bit steep.
