You know it's a reputable preview when they say the commentary is lead by Rex Hudler.ScoopBrady wrote:New preview up from X-Play.

I'm absolutely floored by a few of those pics! Don't get me wrong. They all look unbelievable. But, that Cabrera pic is just awesome, the Wakefield knuckle ball grip is just....wow, and lastly the pic of the Mets player jumping over the ball is outstanding. Oh, and what about the pic of the Braves Manager!?!!?!?GameSeven wrote:For those who haven't been keeping up with the SCEA picture-a-day thread at OS, here is a link:

The new road to the show features look mighty enticing but do I really have to learn a bunch of base coach signs?Diablo25 wrote:IGN Preview.

The strike zone improved last year and the umpires zones changed game by game, which I thought was excellent. You had to learn the zone and adjust.JRod wrote:I hope they fix the strike zone. If they don't, I don't care what the game looks like.
By far, the best playing baseball game I have ever played.
Agreed. The game definitely looks better than last year (when the game's bland next gen graphics were panned by some) but I didn't have a problem with the graphics last year. It was/is a phenominal game. The textures/lighting/stadiums look even better in 08. March 4th...March 4th...March 4thsportdan30 wrote:I'm absolutely floored by a few of those pics! What is there to flame you for? You won't be dissapointed, I bought a ps3 solely for the Show last year and I never regretted it. Now with the inclusion of incredible graphics, beach balls in the stands that sometimes get on the field, fans fighting for home runs, all new stat tracking, any box score of the season being viewable, standing ovations and curtain calls, the improved Road to the Show, etc etc etc. The list goes on and on and I am really stoked for this year's title.SEMINOLE wrote:Fellas, please don't flame me for this, but I have never played The Show.![]()
But on that note, I am getting a PS3 soon and right now this is the first must buy title for me. I was a HUGE MVP fan and tried the 2k's the last few years but they just didn't satisfy my ball diamond needs. I must say, just by looking at the images etc......this game looks fantastic and I have heard some of you rave about the series long enough LOL.
By the way, if any of you are registered at OS, there is a "pic of the day" thread that has all the pics the devs are posting over there. Some of them are just sick! Look for the locked thread, not the one that is like 40+ pages long.

It improved but it was the same in every baseball game. Too big and not enough walks. The CPU threw more than the previous year but it was too big for human pitching. You really had to try to walk batters.Pete wrote:The strike zone improved last year and the umpires zones changed game by game, which I thought was excellent. I really CANNOT wait for this game. I remember playing The Show on PS2 a couple of years ago and thinking, this game on the PS3 is going to be unreal. Last year's PS3 game was my favorite sports game of all time, but this year's looks even better. I wonder how many extra PS3s Sony will sell because of the Show. If you're a big baseball fan and can afford the PS3, it's a no brainer, IMO.
The difference between next gen baseball and next gen football is like night and day. Hopefully, the backbreaker football game will come along and change that. Until then, I'm going to fully enjoy The Show 08.

Agreed on all points. I bought my PS3 specifically for The Show, and it was well worth the purchase. My favorite sports game of all time.GTHobbes wrote:I really CANNOT wait for this game. I agree, it was improved but it could be a little smaller. Lots of strikes called at the shins, at least on last year's PS2 version.JRod wrote:It improved but it was the same in every baseball game.
