That was my initial thought after the game. Guess Tiki should have hung around for another year.

I certainly don't see this game as a blowout. NE has looked pretty mortal the last half of the season. And it's not like Jason Sehorn will be covering Randy Moss.

I don't even know what that means? Are you drunk? Are you saying TV Broadcasters were denouncing Mac-fever while it was going on or you were shouting it at the TV? Shouting at your TV doesn't count. Regardless, NO ONE was on TV saying it. If so, I'd love to hear it...

Joe Buck has become the finest "big game" announcer on American TV. He blows that milquetoast Jim Nantz into the weeds. Nantz should stick to golf, where his "easy listening snooze" act works perfectly.

Back to topic, I need to digest this one before making any kind of prediction. I just have this odd 1991 karma all over again about this game. Reminds me too much of the Bills-Giants' Super Bowl, where few gave the Giants a chance before the game.

Take care,
PK

Perhaps, though u didn't answer my question. My bad, one more time :? "Many of us saw the scum then ...Bud Buck and other douches knew just liked it that way". I don't understand. all I can tell is that someone is a scum (buck? McGwire??) And other douches "just liked it that way". I think I get that which was my point, NO ONE said a word, yet u seem to think otherwise.

PK, is dead on. Buck is waaay ahead of the rest of the pack & is considered one of the nicest guys in the field. Enjoy the superbowl!

The guy gives me gas. Be glad you don't live here, he's all over the place. His commercials just scream scumbag, he's very pompous and he tries to be quit witted and funny when he's not.

He got into the business because of his Dad of course, and obviously launched himself into a big time national broadcaster. He was never that way on the radio for Cardinals games, especially when Jack was alive, but now with all of the TV stuff he does it's just over the top and arrogant. Can't stand the guy.

Buck doesn't annoy as much doing football as he does when he does baseball. Maybe because there's less dead air time to fill in football, so he doesn't have as much time to sound pompous and arrogant as he does when he does baseball. Plus, I think him and Aikman work well together.

Wow. Go G-men! What a thrilling game. The past week, many of us here in NJ were talking of how yesterday's game was *essentially* the Giants SB. What impressed me the most yesterday was how complete the Giants played as a team. In a game on paper that decidely favored the Packers, the Giants were able to control play on both sides of the ball. Kudos to them for sticking together to make the most of their ragtag crew.

While the prospect of facing off against the perfect Pats is undoubtedly daunting, it's good that the Giants played them to such a close outcome in week 17. Hopefully the game isn't a blowout (unless in New York's favor ) and this SB ranks with the better ones. As PK points out, the subplots in this matchup are many and the game has the potential to be great.

Considering how good the last game of the season was between the Giants and Pats, I think this could be a good Super Bowl. And any dagger in the heart of Cheesehead Nation is always good for me.

First of all, Buck always was, is and will be a Cards' homer. It's only natural considering his father's history with the club.

Second, wasn't damn near everyone praising Big Mac and Sammy during the HR chase of 1998? About the only people held in higher esteem by a greater majority of Americans during that "summer that saved baseball" were Pope John Paul II and Mother Teresa.

Finally, Buck works for FOX, which has MLB TV rights. So of course, FOX execs tell Buck to put a shiny, happy face on all of its coverage, promoting the sport. Because if the sport gets more popular, more people watch FOX telecasts, which allows FOX to charge more for advertising.

You honestly think a national network TV play-by-play announcer is a journalist, a source of objectivity? Guys like Buck, Greg Gumbel, Marv Albert and Milquetoast Nantz are mouthpieces for the leagues they cover and the network. Nothing more. They may take a shot at players, like Buck did toward the "disgusting" Randy Moss, but how many times do they take shots at the league front office? Try never? Analysts/color guys, maybe. But play-by-play guys? Nope.

Big-time sports announcers for major networks are complicit puppets to the business side of the sport and the network. The days of Jim McKay and Howard Cosell are long gone, friend.

Take care,
PK

Maybe so but it doesnt mean I have to like it , like them or like him...In fact I think its better to voice ones displeasure at jackasses like Buck than let them run free....

The way he excused the andro in macs locker all summer long ( while it was a banned substance in every other sport) just rubbed me the wrong way....he bent over backwards to tell us what a great guy the steroid freak was...

He over did it as far as I am concerned...went far beyond the call of his homer ass kissing duty...

Let's just be thankful Bryant Gumbel isn't doing the play by play...

Hey, he likes Greg Brady and Danny Manning in equal measure. Both are great quarterbacks for their respective teams.

Read an article that legal betting on this SB may exceed $100 million for the first time.

And most of that money is going to the Giants as bettors believe Pats can't cover the point spread (started at 14-15, now to 12).

A lot of prognosticators are saying the question will be how highly this NE team will be regarded, not whether they will win.

In that vein, here's an article which elaborates on something I've said before, that the Pats need to win big if they really want to push their case for all-time best:

http://www.slate.com/id/2183279/

Moss is due for a breakout game and Eli may feel pressure to try to keep up, leading to mistakes, which compounds the problems.

Can the Giants successfully funnel Moss to the inside and effectively take him out of the game as some teams have done? They may not have the secondary to do it and you can't rely completely on the pass rush.

As if I needed any more reason to dislike The Patriots....

Tsk tsk tsk...

Hopefully they will be the next double digit favorite to bite the dust.

Go Giants!
