Great. I guess I am going to have to go thru this in 2 weeks.
Well, my I traded my launch system in just as my original warranty was about to expire a year later. I didn't have any issues with it at all. I was just being precatious. The second unit still hasn't had any issues. My nephew however has had 2 units crash on him. Another nephew hasn't had any issues either with his launch system.

I love my 360 but nearly every time I turn it on I wait for "the bad news" to show up. Some day it will. I am currently on my 2nd 360 and its been doing fine. That being said, I know "that day" is coming.
Quick question - Are the newer 360's, codenamed FALCON, free of these failures? I have often thought of picking up a newer, FALCON 360 to avoid the 3 rings that I know are coming. I would love one of those 360 Elites that are out.
Say what you want about the PS3 but every time I turn it on I expect it to perform...and it does. It is a very stable system which is gaining my confidence daily. If it weren't for Xbox Live I probably would have dumped the 360 months ago. Other than most of my gaming friends have 360's, Xbox Live really is the only thing that makes me keep it. The PS3 does nearly everything else the same (graphics, etc.) or better (media capabilities). There are no 360 exclusives that I just MUST have. Halo 3 - don't play it anymore. GOW - overrated. Mass Effect - not my genre. BioShock - can live without it. Now if MLB08: The Show were a 360 exclusive the above post would read MUCH differently
I'm thinking about getting a PS3 but I can't stand that shitty controller. i don't know why they couldn't have done something about those analog buttons.

The controller is crappy and it is hard to go backwards... but Im sure with the right game Ill get used to it.
I bought it a bit prematurely as Im still playing the 360 and PC instead. With the exception of some F1 and the GT demo all Ive done is wait for downloads and watch movies.
Its is awful purty though and the blu ray is kick ass...Oh yeah love that the wifi is there.

I still can't stand the placement of the left analog stick. The hand naturally rests where they put the d-pad. It's also small and just generally not as ergonomic as the 360 controller.

It took some time but I got used to it. I still play some games on my old Xbox and switching over to game on my PS3 is no big deal anymore. All in all I am really happy with our PS3.

When did you get a PS3, brother? You never told me that! Glad you're digging it.
Take care,

Regarding the PS3 controller, it's not on par with the 360. We can all agree on that. That said, I do like it better for sports games than the 360, but definitely not as much when it comes to FPS or racing games. Then again, FPS are my least favorite genre.
While playing Forza 2 the graphics seemed strange, then after restarting the system I had no video at all. The box still turns on and seems to be working but there’s just a black screen. Tried to get it to work on multiple TVs to no avail. Since this isn’t the RROD I guess it wont be covered under the warranty. Speaking of warranties my Game stop 1 year warranty expired 20 days ago. Wow I am one lucky guy.

Yeah I did. Remember Stevie Y???
Ah, yes! Damn, that conversation feels like it was three years ago. It's been a long winter so far, personally and professionally. 900 mph.
Thanks for jarring my memory!
Take care,

I was hesitant to call 4-my-XBOX so I waited about 30 minutes and tried to fire it up again. No RROD and I played for 15 minutes and then POW! The whole screen went BLUE. The same screen as the "Blue sceen of Death" on the PC. On my last attempt on playing it took about 20 minutes the the scrren turned purple! Enough frick'n around. I finally called Microsoft. The coffin is on the way. I got my Xbox 360 in December after the launch.
Sorry if this story put anybody to sleep! I just wanted to share my experience.
UPDATE: I just got my 360 back yesterday. I mailed it out to them on Jan. 9th and it came back Jan. 21st.
They stated that they sent me a replacement unit. The manufacture date on the new unit is DEC. 25th 2007 (1 month old). Is it safe to say that this unit is brand new? It looks brand new!
Wow I awaiting mine to come back, I hope i get a baby jesus 360 too. From what i read they try to keep the original and just swap out the motherboard. How long did you have yours? What was the original manufacture date? Did it have a HDMI jack or did you already have one anyways?

I had my original for just over 2 years. The MFR. date on the original was December 10, 2005. No HDMI port on the new one. I was crossing my fingers! It was a pain in @ss to recover my Xbox Live account. It took almost 4 hours. My profile would start to download but would not finish the download. Some error message about Xbox Live sign up was no longer available.
I got my original unit back last month that has a manufactured date of November 20, 2005. Haven't decided yet whether to ebay it or trade it in somewhere for store credit.

Well your not going to believe this. I just turned on my 360 (just got it back on Monday) and I got a red light. Bottom right quadrant. On the screen it says "System Error E-74" Just got off the phone with support and its going back to them already! It only lasted 3 days!!
It gets better. After recovering my Live account on Monday, it seems that 85% of my game saves are erased! I have to start them all back over from the begininng. Bioschock, GH3, GH2, MOH Airbourne etc....WTF#$#!@ My downloaded content is still there but the game progress is gone.
So much for thinking the new console with a MFR. date of 12-25-07 was a brand new one.
