Tampa will have to make a move to clear some cap space. And that includes any of the top class forwards they have. Depending how the Habs play for the next few months, C. Huet is an UFA and could be bait for any team. Too bad A. Raycroft stunk at every start he had, so his value is pretty low at the moment.

Best pick up for a goalie this season: Ilya Bryzgalov.

I think it's sad that with the amount of NHL teams with poor goalies, that Robert Esche is stuck playing over in Russia.

tjung0831 wrote:Great game between the Oilers and the Blues last night and a pretty good bout between King and Stortini, not to mention a couple of others. Blues are struggling on the PP and to get two chances late in the game and not be able to finish was bad because you knew the Oilers were probably gonna get a call in OT and they did.
Yeah, that call was a bit of a cheapie. :)

The Oil still have a ton of problems. Very soft on the puck, especially the defensemen, and a pop-gun offense. Basically a one-line offense.

It's also about time that the reality of the goaltending situation is acknowledged: Garon is the new No. 1 for the Oil. He's just played better than Rolie, plain and simple.

Great second goal for the Oil by Penner, who showed speed that wasn't present early in the season when he was fat and out of shape. Penner isn't worth $4 million per season, but at least he's playing like he's worth $2 mill instead of looking like a guy who wasn't worth $200,000 in the first 20 games of the season.

Finally, that ice in St. Louis is a disgrace. Simply no excuse for that in a building in a winter climate with only one permanent tenant. The puck was bouncing all over the place -- it looked like the Winter Classic in Buffalo, indoors.

Take care,
PK

S. Gomez and J. Jagr are one of the hottest players lately and the job was to keep them in check along M. Straka. 'Nucks didn't really play well tonight but they found a way to win in this tough division. Having Louie in net always helps. He was great...

S. Crosby had some great moves tonight as he assisted in E. Malkin's hat trick. It was great watching the young kids embarrass an out of focus Maple Leaf team. Great fight between D. Tucker and Jarko Ruutu.

Decision Ruutu. He landed the best punches at the end of the fight.

Ruutu may be a cheap bastard, but I'm pleased he nailed Tucker. The only bigger pukes in the NHL than Tucker are Sean Avery and Chris Simon.

The boys played a great match and will make Don Cherry proud. It'll be sweet revenge against the Swedes, S. Mason stepped up his game big time.

Steve Downie proved again last night what a piece of sh*t he really is, sucker-punching Jason Blake of the Leafs in the eye while the linesmen were breaking up their scrum.

The NHL lacks the balls to suspend Downie for the punch, but I hope some enforcer obliterates the little puke, which would be just punishment. He's just a complete waste of space and doesn't deserve the privilege of playing in the NHL.

Glad to see the Oil pull out yet another shootout victory, against the Rangers. Justice, too, as the roughing penalty against Pitkanen at the end of regulation that allowed Drury to score on the PP with seven seconds left was absolute horsesh*t.

Was a gutless cheapshot by Downie on Blake, thus making it the 278th gutless cheapshot in Flyers-Leafs history.

Perhaps the greatest wallpaper I've ever found in my 13+ years on the Web:

http://www.inthecrease.co.uk/wallpapers/chiefspaper.jpg

The scary thing is, I can name all but one or two players in that wallpaper. Chiefs' names, of course. :)

Former F1 team owner Russian tycoon Alex Shnaider is looking into buying the Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Raptors. My advice to him, save your money.

Shnaider will need partners. His net worth is reportedly $1.3 billion, and MLSE is worth $1.5 billion, according to a report last Saturday night on HNIC.

Pretty darn good starters for the All Stars game. Alfredsson will be centering Sid and Vinny in the east and Iginla will have Zetterberg & Datsyuk in the wings for the west. Luongo & Brodeur between the pipes.

No sense in paying a cent for a game that was broadcast on free TV.

Does CIFNation have full game torrents of most NHL games?

If so, anybody have an invite?

Yes.
Naples39 wrote:If so, anybody have an invite?
I don't. CIF recently instituted a rule that you need to have at least 50 posts in their forum to request an invite from an administrator. I got in the site well before that rule was created.

I have nowhere near 50 posts in that forum. Maybe two or three. Sorry.

Love him or hate him, C. Chelios became the second oldest d-man to play the game. And the veterans in Detroit are still shining as Hasek has another SO.

Yeah, EIG should stop dicking around and sell the team to Katz.

I have no idea why EIG suddenly is so paranoid that Katz is going to move the team out of Alberta. The guy lives in a 25,000 square-foot home in Edmonton. His company, based in Edmonton, owns the Rexall chain of drug stores, which sponsors the Oilers' arena. He got his bachelor's and law degree from the University of Alberta. He's a huge fan of the Oilers. He's also one of the 500 richest men in the world.

What the f*ck more proof do they need that this guy is devoted to the team and the city? The whole affair is getting really silly.

With the season halfway thru, who's most likely to get the boot next?

My guess would be M. Crawford in the west and J. Tortorella in the east. The Crow can't get the young kids going and M. Handzus has been terrible. Blake & Nagi are UFA's.

All is not well in TPA, yes they need a goalie badly but with all that offensive power, they should score one more goal than the opposition, and players may start tuning the coach out.

Hey, the trade deadline is coming up next month already.

Due to injuries CHI is starting to fade quickly again, so the most improved team halfway thru goes to Wayne's boys.

Nice to see Pamela Anderson with the 'Nucks jersey at the Leno show. :)
