For those who missed the game or want to relive the magic: A nice, long highlights package of the game can be accessed by pressing play on the lead story now on NHL.com.

Enjoy!

Take care,

The NHL couldn't have scripted the ending any better, either.

Loved every second of today. A true celebration of the greatest sport on Earth.

I don't know when the last time was that I watched a regular season NHL game between two teams I couldn't care less about, but today's game had me from the start. It had the flavor of a special event, and even though the weather negatively affected the hockey, for me it enhanced the event. I even had my Dad watching the game, and I can't even imagine how many Bowl games we skipped out on to watch this instead. I loved it.

They need to do this every year. What was that college game a few years ago? Reading about that one had me going, as well as the last time the NHL did this, but this was the first time I got to watch it.

Oh, and for the record, I do think Emerick is very, very weird, but I kind of like him. At least he's not wrong all the time. He's very good technically, and with a game as fast as hockey, that's half the battle. I guess all the Olympics have tempered me to him, as well as him being a NY local guy. But yeah, he's a weird duck, with a very weird head. But I think he does a fine job. Even though the way he mixes up his tenses does drive me bonkers!

With the success of today's outdoor game, I think the league could use it also for All Star games in the future to attract further attention to the game in the US. With all the college football games today, I wonder what the % of TV viewers followed the game south of the borders.

That was an awesome game to watch. 70,000 fans in the snow, great hockey. You could just tell the players were into it. I thoroughly enjoyed the entire game...except the ending :) I was rooting for the home team to win.

I liked the coverage of the game on NBC today as I have no problems with Emerick and Eddie Olczyk is one of my favorite color commentators going back to when he worked with Mike Lange.

Loved the story Bob Costas told in between periods of his encounter with the real life Ogie Oglethorpe on a bus ride, damn I have to watch Slapshot again soon as it's been a while.

Also really liked the Penguins throwback uniforms, supposedly those will be their third jerseys next year. All in all it was a great game and I wouldn't mind seeing the NHL do an outdoor game every season.

Actually with iTunes now offering complete NHL games for $1.99 in the iTunes store, the Winter Classic should be available soon. They are offering what they consider the great games of the current season and have around seven available the last time I checked.

A game torrent already is up at CIFNation, with a true high-def torrent coming soon.

No sense in paying a cent for a game that was broadcast on free TV.

Well for some people that might not do the torrent thing, that game is well worth $1.99 in my eyes.

I was worried when the game ran past 4 pm that NBC would pre-empt it to show "The Music of Seal on Ice" or whatever that was.

you know network tv is bad when some network executive believes a bunch of figure skaters applying their trade while Seal sings live is going to generate ratings..

Figure skating gets very good ratings, better than the NHL, sadly. Chicks love it, and guys like to see the hot women float around in leotards.

When Katarina Witt was skating competitively, that was must-see TV for me. :)

I loved Lindy's jacket and the jerseys. Even my wife, who doesn't like hockey yet we're happily married :), watched a bit with my brother and I. She complimented Lindy's coat, too.

Agreed. I thought it would have been a good idea for Sidney Crosby and the rest of the Pens to wear their regular jersey and generate some extra sales.

I actually really dig those Pens throwbacks. I used to love them as a kid and was pleased as punch to see them return even if it was just for one game.

Winter Classic pulled a 2.6 rating on NBC, the highest-rated NHL regular-season game since 1996.

Cool! :)

Great game between the Oilers and the Blues last night and a pretty good bout between King and Stortini, not to mention a couple of others. Blues are struggling on the PP and to get two chances late in the game and not be able to finish was bad because you knew the Oilers were probably gonna get a call in OT and they did.

Winter Classic pulled a 38.1 rating in Buffalo, even with 73,000 at the game and another 10,000 at HSBC Arena watching the game on the scoreboard big screen.

Sorry, Detroit, but the blue-collar town on the shores of Lake Erie in Western New York is the true Hockeytown.

I saw the highlights this morning. The Oil had 3!!!! shots in the first period. I don't know what it is with the Oil this year, but I seem to always be hearing about extremely low shot totals......

You can't score if you don't shoot!

the hurricanes put graham on waivers...and cam ward has gone COLD...he let in 5 on 14 shots against the hawks...

i doubt that anyone will snag graham when he comes back through waivers...

be interesting to see if they try to swing a deal for a goalie and a defenseman...

not sure if any goalies are out there to get....

and tampa bay is hosed...they have no cap room and are in trouble...

Emery won't be in Ottawa for too long if Sens' management have their way, especially after he skipped practice last week.

But who wants Razor? He's a head case making about $3 million per season. That's a big risk.
