Then how did the ACC do it with 9 teams before expansion?HipE wrote:The Big Ten actually can't play a 9 game conference schedule since they have an uneven number of teams in the conference. If they added a 9th conference game, there would be one team that only plays 8 conference games. Pretty much the only thing they can do to even things out with the other conferences is to add a 12th team and play a conference championship game, which I believe they want to do.
The whole thing stinks on ice.
How the hell does Illinois warrant a BCS birth while ranked #13?
At this point Id say scrap the whole thing and go back to the old way. Id much rather see OSU vs USC in the Rose Bowl and let the chips fall where they may. Can that be any worse than this steaming pile of s*** they just gave us?

Whoever wins the BCS Championship this year won't get the credit of being a true National Champion. Unless your a fan of one of the schools. If USC and Oklahoma kick ass in their Bowl games. It could be a shared Championship. Thanks BCS!!!

USC's got no shot. The loss to Stanford is a killer. Even if they kick the living crap out of Illinois, it won't be enough. Illinois is ranked like #13 and USC is supposed to kick the crap out of them.JackDog wrote:At this point. No.XXXIV wrote:The whole thing stinks on ice.

Mack Brown and Mike Leach should have his voting rights revoked as a coaches.bdunn13 wrote:Breakdown of how each coach voted.

Kansas ranked over Missouri on their polls? Hey ass-hats, they just played last week on a neutral field and we all know who won. This, from a couple of Big 12 coaches.
Les Miles was worse though.... dropping #1 Mizzou down to 11th, and WVA down to 10th. I guess losing on a neutral field to a #9 Sooner team is worse than losing at home to an unranked, sub-.500 Pitt team? What a dumb ass.
It's almost like some of these coaches pay attention to the top 3 or 4 spots, and then throw the rest wherever with no thought put into it all.

The whole system is a complete joke, totally corrupted by greedy fat cats who are probably loving all of the controversy that this is once again generating. Ri-freakin-diculous. If I had Rose Bowl tickets this year I'd probably sell them asap as I have no interest in paying to see the game this year.

Although I agree with their characterization of the rest of the BCS bowls, I can't see how they can say that Ohio State or LSU don't deserve to be in the title game (if you're forced to choose two teams). Even though their OOC schedule was weak, Ohio State is the only one-loss team from a big conference in the nation. And LSU, for reasons stated before, have the best resume out of the two-loss teams.bdunn13 wrote:http://championsbydefault.com/
And whether a team is "hot" or not shouldn't play into whether they make the title game or not...it should be based on their performance over the entire season. Even though it was early in the season, Georgia still lost to South Carolina, Va Tech still lost to LSU, etc. Winning streaks shouldn't matter...the entirety of the season should.

It truly is funny how angry and self-righteous Les Miles was in his press conference before the game on Saturday. Especially when it turns out that negotiations apparently were close to complete for him to go to Michigan. I guess some Michigan people, including Coach Lloyd Carr didn't think Miles was a good fit and when Mile's 'people' tried to contact the AD of Michigan on Friday he was MIA.
When a coach says he did not talk to anyone from another school about a job, all he is saying is "that's what agents are payed to do."
Actually, I don't think he is a good fit. Can anyone honestly say that he did a good coaching job this year? Losing at home to an unranked team? He has had some incredibly talented LSU teams with talent he did not recruit and has underachieved pretty much every year he has been at the school.
It will be interesting to see where LSU is in about 3 years.

Well, Michigan got their man. Call it sour grapes (since my wife is a graduate of WVU) but they are welcome to him.
I am not sure I would pay someone 2.5 million dollars who was just out coached by Dave Wannstedt in the most important game of his career. Plus, I still suspect that gimmicky offense. WVU should have been able to grind it out on the ground and win against Pitt - even with a backup QB. They have one of the best fullbacks in the country and 2 excellent RBs.
I doubt that the team in Columbus is losing any sleep over this change.

I am no fan of Rich Rodriguez, but to be fair, he took a program that was stuck in a decade of mediocrity to a team that had 3 straight 10+ win seasons and a pair of BCS bids in the last 3 years.kevinpars wrote:Well, Michigan got their man. At Michigan, he will have more budget, more resources, and a much broader recruiting base to bring in the talent to run his system. If I were a Big 10 team, I sure as hell would be nervous. Look at the turnaround Illinois had after getting more athletic. You don't think this guy can recruit even better players, while being the head coach at Michigan?
