There was one point in the Colts-Patriots game where the crowd noise was skipping badly. I thought it was the entire CBS telecast but the announcers sounded just fine. The Colts have been rumored to pump in fake crowd noise over the PA for years so they might've had their Milli Vanilli moment yesterday.

Yep, early in the fourth quarter. I noticed that, too, but didn't even think about it until I read about it on a blog last night.spooky157 wrote:There was one point in the Colts-Patriots game where the crowd noise was skipping badly. Now that was funny...The colts have been accused of this a few times. The steelers most notable after a monday night game. CBS has taken the blame.pk500 wrote:Yep, early in the fourth quarter. Meanwhile The Steelers and Big Ben are laying the wood to the Ravens. 28-0 and still 5 to play in the 1st half. Could The Steelers be the xfactor that prevents the Colt Pats rematch? They have handed the Colts their playoff lunch before.
Edit: 35-0 in the 1st half. Ben has 5 Td passes in the half. Dont count on that Pats Colts rematch up as the Colts will have a rough one with Pittsburgh.
All my lil' brother does is talk up the steelers (he is a fan) and I always told him that he was a complete homer for putting them in the same category as the colts and patriots. This game has me thinking more along his lines now. Ben was firing on all cylinders, his receivers were all outstanding and the D (yeah it was the anemic ravens) was shutdown. Steelers v. Patriots AFC Championship anyone?GTHobbes wrote:Loved, loved, LOVED every minute of that beat down of the Ravens who handed us 2 tough losses last year. People can talk all they want about the Patriots and Colts, but the Stillers have an awful lot of weapons on both sides of the ball. James Harrison's a beast.
It's difficult to judge the Steelers because they lost to both Denver and Arizona. That's OK as long as they don't let it happen again. They will be favored in every single game the rest of the way except for one. They should be able to go 7-1. If they are competitive against the Patriots and win every game they should then I think they could go to the AFC Championship game.macsomjrr wrote: Steelers v. Patriots AFC Championship anyone?
I think this Steelers team is better than 2005 team. Ben has 20 TDs and 6 interceptions after 8 games. He'd get serious MVP consideration if not for Brady. Willie Parker is a better, more patient runner now. Holmes is a legitimate deep threat. They have a lot of flexibility on offense. They play great defense. They have road playoff experiene. They may get beat soundly by the Patriots, but they aren't going to be frightened and will welcome the challenge.
But people, including this huge Steelers fan, aren't going to believe they can beat the BB Patriots in the playoffs until they actually do it.
Steelers may beat the Colts to face the Patriots in the championship (assuming the playoff pairings match up that way) but the Colts defense matches up better against the Pats.
Colts were able to generate some pass pressure with 4 down linemen, very little blitzing, and drop back a lot of players. Of course, that made them vulnerable to the draw but the Pats rushing attack didn't really hurt the Colts.
Steelers depend on bringing 5, 6 or even 7. Brady is very hard to blitz like that because he'll find holes right away.

I agree. If Anthony Gonzalez and Reggie Wayne don't drop two key passes against the Pats, the Colts probably would have won that game. Not to take anything away from the Pats sensational comeback, but I feel like Indy really let victory slip out of their hands.wco81 wrote:Steelers may beat the Colts to face the Patriots in the championship (assuming the playoff pairings match up that way) but the Colts defense matches up better against the Pats.

I like the Steelers and do think they have the potential to beat the Patriots, but it's hard to see it as anything other than potential after the losses to bad Cardinals and Broncos teams. In addition to the Pats, they face a feisty Cleveland team next week and a Jacksonville team that could be in the playoff hunt and have David Gerard back.
With any defense at all, the Browns win this game. But with the worst defense statistically in the NFL this is what you get with the Browns. But at least they're fun to watch again. And with a favorable schedule, could entertain a shot at the playoffs.Brando70 wrote:I agree. Hell they even got HD treatment for a change on Sunday Ticket. This was only the 4th time they were shown on Hi Def. I paid 300 clams and then an extra $99 for Superfan for that ? Ahh but thats for another rant.

Whew -- that was a narrow escape for the Bills today against Miami. Four consecutive victories!
Losman self-destructed, which was inevitable, so the question for Jauron entering the game next week against New England is to return to Edwards if he's healthy or stick with Losman and hope he can return to "Good J.P."
Man, I hope Lynch is healthy for next week. He was a bull on the Bills' TD and two-point conversion.
Interesting thing about this game: How often do you see a 3-2 scoreline in an NFL game?
Take care,
PK

The Oakland vs Bears game today was one of the worst games I've ever sat through. I'm glad the Bears won and I'm glad Grossman is back for the humor it is going to bring to Chicago Radio, but those are two really bad teams.

You paid $300 for Sunday Ticket? Should be closer to $229.snaz16 wrote: Hell they even got HD treatment for a change on Sunday Ticket. This was only the 4th time they were shown on Hi Def. I paid 300 clams and then an extra $99 for Superfan for that ? Ahh but thats for another rant.
And the $99 SuperFan? I guess you're one of the 1% of people that don't call and complain about that charge to get it waived.

In all seriousness, do yourself a favor and head over to AVSforum (and others) and look at some of the deals you SHOULD be getting from DirecTV. You're paying way way way too much man.

The Browns' defense didn't play very well, but it was the *offense* that let them down. After a fantastic opening drive, the Browns were handed an additional 3 TDs on a turnover and kickoff returns, but here's how that high-powered offense produced in the 2nd half:snaz16 wrote:With any defense at all, the Browns win this game.
3 plays, 1 yard - punt
3 plays, 1 yard - punt
1 play, 4 yards - fumble
3 plays, 7 yards - punt
4 plays, -7 yards - punt
3 plays, 0 yards - punt
8 plays, 32 yards - missed FG
The Browns were a overturned TD catch away from going from the 1st quarter to the final minute against a prevent defense without a play of 10 yards.
Just when they start to suck me in again, they break my heart...snaz16 wrote:With any defense at all, the Browns win this game. I'm not sure the Colts have had a worse 1st half since drafting Manning. The lack of WR depth is appalling.
But damn, does any team have more defensive showboaters than the Chargers? They all run 20 yards to celebrate and do something annoying. Guess they have a lot of catching up to do after giving up 300 yards in the second half to the Vikings last week.

Yeah because the Colts namely Bob Sanders hasn't been doing the same thing, even when down 23-0.Dave wrote:I'm not sure the Colts have had a worse 1st half since drafting Manning. The lack of WR depth is appalling.

Rams win!
Grossmann is a f***in God...Lol,,,what a d***** that dude is. I cant remember an athlete I found more annoying.
Whos that returner on the Browns? Hes almost as good as Hester. Was that his second of the year? It was the best one Ive seen at any rate.
Manning...sweet bounce back too bad Viniaterri picked this week to choke SB XXXVI would have been alot better.

If your idea of fun is banging your head on the table trying to figure out stuff like why they wasted two timeouts on the same play or why Ben Roethlisberger looked like Michael Vick running around out there all afternoon.snaz16 wrote:But at least they're fun to watch again.
But you're right, we have to look at the big picture... even though they have still have some holes to fill, they're back, and they're playing exciting, competitive football. We can't get too hung up on yesterday's loss.
But damn... it would have been nice to beat Pittsburgh.
