The good news is that the Gamestop credit was intact... I had a receipt from an older trade in, and they transferred the balance to a new gift card. The bad news is/are the 7 purchases from Finish Line for $479.11 each on my credit cards. Oh, well... I won't be liable for the charges in the end, but it's going to be a frustrating week.

Well, funds are short for me... that's why I wanted to see. I might stop by a gamestop to see. The only bad thing is, the shortages of Wii's right now, which has packages as the only option.Slumberland wrote:I say, as a rule, don't get rid of hardware. At least not until the next version comes out.
I love COD 4, Bioshock, and some others, but the sports titles are just so-so, which has me thinking.
I could get Metroid Prime, Mario Galaxy, and Power Pros - all of which seem to be excellent games according to Wii owners I know.
Yeah, I almost sold my Wii a few months ago. I'm not sure what the hell I was thinking. I almost sold my 360 because of the hardware failures (going to have another one soon...I can feel it), but since I got a refund for the repair costs I've forgiven MS for the time being.Slumberland wrote:I say, as a rule, don't get rid of hardware. Yeah, I think I'm just in a lull right now.. COD 4 has been great, but I'm not feeling NHL 08 or any sports game right now.ddtrane wrote:Mizzourah, I respect your opinion, but do not sell your 360. That system is just the best ever. You'll regret it if you do.
Super Mario Galaxy looks so incredibly fun though.

Mizzou,
I agree the next gen sports games are just so so on the next gen systems, The Show being the only exception. I just know I'm going to have buyer's remorse when '08 releases.
With regards to the Wii:
I really wish the games were in HD. One would think their next gen system will be. Some of the games just look rather washed out and blurry.
In my opinion, there are still very few A titles on the Wii.
Also, it's not a stand alone type of system. The majority of the games are more enjoyable with another person or group. The PS3 or 360 compliment it very well.
After the newness of the controller wears off, you're left wanting to just chill out on the couch with a regular controller.
The interaction with the Wii is great fun, but it does get a little tiring waving your hands around.
Finally, it's a fantastic FAMIY console. I think you will bore of it rather quickly if you are the lone gamer in your family.
My advice is to keep the 360, and only rent games like I'm doing 95% of the time. Games like COD4, Bioshock, racing games, etc. are quite entertaining, but only for a short period of time (4-5 weeks). By game flying or taking out a BB game pass, you can save yourself quite a bit of money and buyer's remorse.

I may pick up a wii this holiday season as well. I dont know about you guys, but seems like every mall around my parts, they have these Wii displays where Nintendo people are showing the system off. Some of the games like skeetball etc... I didnt even know existed. They're pretty fun to play and it seems like its a good family system.
It would definitely be a family console as my kids and wife both want one.sportdan30 wrote:Mizzou,

The games I've read I think I would like are of course SMG as well as Power Pros and Metroid prime. I would be interested on some other games some of you Wii owners like.
My wife does not want me to spend money on a second console and told me to sell my 360.

At this point, I'm fine with the 360 - and my 11 year old daughter loves Viva Pinata.. but I wonder how much fun they would have with the Wii. I'm fine playing text sims on the pc as far as sports go.
Just throwing out my thoughts out loud.

Well, having the ability to play PC games is an added bonus. Perhaps you wouldn't miss the 360 as much as you think you will if you can play the same games on the PC as well as playing the text sims.
I think you'll get plenty of enjoyment out of the Wii. It definitely brings the entire family together for gaming, something the PS3 and 360 has never done. My son does love playing the demos of games I download on the 360, but I do think he'd much rather enjoy the interaction of the Wii controller.
If you do decide to sell the 360, check out Craigslist.org. I've had a lot of success selling misc. stuff here in the St. Louis area. It's free, so you have nothing to lose in posting an add.

I posted one just to see if I'd get what I wanted for it.sportdan30 wrote:Well, having the ability to play PC games is an added bonus. Perhaps you wouldn't miss the 360 as much as you think you will if you can play the same games on the PC as well as playing the text sims.

I like Craigslist, at least it's a free way to sell things... without all the shipping hassels.

Umm isn't this just stupid.
I could understand if the price of the Wii was arbitrary. But since its fixed what does best buy gain out of telling everybody its their last. Wouldn't 40 Wii sales in a day in 10min, look better than over two days.
I miss the point of doing this since the wii is still in heavy demand.

Finally had a chance to tool around with the system this weekend, and am totally impressed. Took me forever to get the wifi connection working correctly... apparently I had the WEP key wrong at first and then beyond that it didn't care much for channel 11 on the router. Bowled, watched youtube movies on the browser, played Super Mario Galaxy (which is awesome), and am quite happy. My girlfriend came into the room once and noted how I didn't have that rigid, far away look that I apparently get when playing Xbox. But what can I say? Every time she asks me a question, I either get shot or scored on. It's uncanny.
The only thing that concerns me about the system is when you leave it in standby mode which i've only done a couple of times by mistake. I don't know why the system was designed to run hotter in standby mode as opposed to actually using the system when playing.
Maybe it's because the internal fans don't come on.
