For those that missed it, SouthPark strikes again with a beautiful illustration of the irony that is Guitar Hero...

I gotta say that watching someone else play (i.e. my wife- who's not that great) is much more enjoyable now that Slash is in the game. Other characters from years past and this version are cool, but they certainly have a cartoon/fiction feel to them. Watching Slash immerses me a whole lot more. Of course, while playing the game, this makes no difference at all, as the stage is the last thing I'm looking at.
I picked up the package, but if you have no issues with the GH2 guitar, and won't need a second guitar for multiplayer, you should just stick with the game only.JackB1 wrote:Did most of you guys pick up the entire GH3 package, with the guitar or did any of you just get the game and use the 360 Explorer from the last game? I want to get GH3, but I am not sure which route to take? Game only or package w/ guitar?
I picked up the whole package because I wanted the wireless guitar and I like it a lot better than the one from Guitar Hero 2. I want to 5 star every song on easy before moving up to medium and I have done it on every song except for the Slayer song that I can't even make it to the halfway point to just beat regularly.

Is this game w/ guitar sold out everywhere? I was planning on getting this for my son for Christmas and lately I can't find it anywhere.
I see PS2 and PS3 versions all over the place, but no Wii or 360 w/ Guitar are in stock. Game only.
Hope I'm not screwed here. I had plenty of chances to pick this up, but I never thought it'd be an issue. There was always stacks of this thing on display at my local electronics retailers.

nobody ever answered this, so I'm trying again. can someone compare the GH2 guitar with the GH3 one? which one feels more solidly made?
I like the GH2 guitar, but the explorer body makes it hard to play while sitting. I would imagine the Les Paul body more comfortable to lay on your knee?

tough choice
I have used the 360 GHII guitar on my PC before for 'Frets on Fire'. It worked just fine through standard USB.JackB1 wrote:I just saw Guitar Hero 3 for the PC and it lokks like it's the same Explorer Guitar that came with GH2-360. Anyone know if the 360 Explorer wil work with the PC version? Isn't it just a USB connection?
Thanks for the heads up. I just tried FOF with my Explorer 360 and it worked! Pretty cool game, but the 4 songs it comes with suck. Do you know if u can import GH2-360 songs? I tried it but couldn't get it to work. I think it might only work with the PS2 versions??? The other thing is I could only get the game to recognize a down stroke on the strum bar.Naples39 wrote:I have used the 360 GHII guitar on my PC before for 'Frets on Fire'. If you're a bit torrent guy, there are huge song download packs available, including packs for every song from all GH games. The only thing though is that most custom made songs are single track recordings, so if you miss a note, all the music stops, unlike GH in which only the guitar track stops upon missing.
Random and maybe weird Guitar Hero question for those of you who play this game regularly. When you're playing this game do you play it like you are rocking out and actually playing guitar on stage or do you treat it like a rhythm game that challenges your hand/eye skills? It is a bit of both? Just curious.
*EDIT - Just wanted to make a note that the reason I'm asking is cause I started watching a few GH movies on You Tube of people playing and most of the time the dudes playing look like zombies staring into the TV screen frantically moving their fingers around. I thought the point was to ROCK!

I'm listening to Oilers Live, the weekly Edmonton Oilers podcast in which a player sits down for an extended interview. The guest was injured Oilers defenseman Matt Greene.
Greenie is a BIG Guitar Hero fan. He has a broken ankle, so he has plenty of free time. Greenie said he beat the game on Medium, moved to Hard, is 75 percent done but is having trouble with the solo in "I Wanna Rock and Roll" by Kiss.
Take care,
PK
