Wow, I've REALLY started getting my ass handed to me in MP. For the first two days I was regularly finishing middle of the pack on my team. Now I'm always in the bottom third...often the bottom of the bottom third LOL

People are insane with the knifing in this game. I played one game where a dude had 89 kills, and as near as I could see way more than half were with the knife. They just sprint and weave like crazy.

My old man reaction times must be catching up with me too, as I have not once managed to beat somebody in a 1v1 showdown where we were both surprised.

It's still fun, but the frustration factor is increasing greatly.

I also have had experiences where some games I simply cannot kill anyone. It can get frustrating, but sometimes switching weapons helps just to change things up.

Also, if you find yourself in a lot 'faceoffs', I strongly recommend the juggernaut perk. I'm not sure if they've turned it up since the beta or something, but damn guys with that thing one are hard to bring down. I've launched grenades that land right at their feet and they still keep on sprinting. You will definitely notice a difference with this perk enabled.

This game continues to impress, and it just keeps going.

GREAT mission...wait 'til you do 'All Ghillied Up'... 8O One of the greatest moments in gaming...

I haven't seen any of that myself, but some people are continually going to try to exploit stuff as long as video games are around. It sucks that there are people who, rather than playing a game the way it was designed to play, instead cheese the hell out of everything just to get a high kill count. It's cheap, but it happens in every game I've ever played online.

Idiots abound...but this game is still the s***...

I had an experience like this towards the end of my MP gaming last night. I hadn't been using the knife much until this one map and then I started being very pro-offensive (i.e. sprinting around from spot to spot very quickly) and ended up starting the game 12-1 (usually I die more than I kill). Once I actually ran into a building and sliced up 5 guys one after the other.

Nerf the knife!

I just rented it tonight. The car ride was very cool. I am very impressed after about an hour of single player.

This game is astonishing me the more I play it single player. Truly one of the better FPS shooter experiences I've ever had in single player. The only thing that can compare right now is the first Medal of Honor on the PSX and Halo on the Xbox.

Yep, COD 4 is that good. F*cking insane.

Take care,
PK

I'm in 100% agreement. I was thinking today why this game is impressing me so much, I mean their is the superficial stuff like the lighting, smoke trails etc. But I just keep going back to the immersion factor, I feel a connection with my guys and really feel like I'm playing a part in a movie.

When you get caught in a cross fire, or you're in a sniping position and you see the s*** flying in a totally unrelated area of the battlefield it is just amazing. When I've got my ass planted next to a concrete road barrier and the s*** is breaking apart from a hail of ak-47 bullets it's just crazy.

For me, I really think COD4 is probably the best single player shooter I have ever played.

I forget where I ended the night last night, either level 20 or 21, but I just wanted to say that with the exception of the red dot scope I am using gear and perks that are avaialble to you as soon as you can open up the class customization feature, including the starting M16, and I'm finding that to be my most successful loadout.

I messed around with the M4 and other full autoguns for a while, but actually did pretty significantly worse, with my kills and (obviously) my accuracy going way down.

***SPOILER ALERT***
(Especially if you haven't done all of the Sgt. Jackson missions)

The best, most gripping, immersive moment of the game for me was after the nuclear blast, when they find you, Jackson, still barely alive, then have you crawl, first person, to the back of the downed heli and survey the damage of the nuclear blast, then hearing your hearbeat slow as the white light crept in, and then seeing the loading screen as your status is changed to KIA...I got goosebumps...

I don't know why I fall for it every time. Halo 3 was more of the same, not really my thing. But the CoD beta I played briefly just had the "it" factor. It's hard to explain, but most shooters have very strange controls. A dead zone around the top of the stick (that's what she said!), I don't know. In the beta, I could aim exactly where I wanted to, when I wanted to, which is very unusual for me and a shooter. I even got quite a few kills, and the meat grinder thing is good for me.

My "legit" copy will be here tonight...I'd been messing around on the PC version and it's definitely worth taking a look at multiplayer

************SPOILER RESPONSE**********************

Teal: I agree...goosebumps. I was just talking to Paul about this this morning, but was absolutely terrified of posting something that monumental on the boards, so I waited for somebody else to do it . What makes it more gripping is when you use space to stand up, he'll stagger and fall back down a lot. He sways back and forth, the vision clouds...it was just an intense moment.

I kept going "how the hell am I going to get out of this if I was just in a nuclear blast????"

"Oh...I'm not...." -----------flatline------------

Okay, now for a funny moment. I was just playing with randoms, and there was this 13 year old knucklehead who, for some strange reason, was named 'POOPinYRpants'. Hee, hee, chuckle,chuckle...

Anyway, he was on the other team, and one of my teammates evidently knifed him. Poop was actually a pretty good player, so in his excitement to announce his knife kill, he shouted...wait for it...

"I JUST STABBED THE POOPY!" 8O 8O 8O

Needless to say, we all got quite a laugh out of it, and in the silence that followed, I said: "Man, that s*** ain't right..." Cue even more laughter

I now have all the multiplayer game modes unlocked. If I have guys in my party that do not, and I go to play in those modes, what happens to the lower-level guys? Can they come, or are they dropped?

I think the single player mode was just ok. It didn't feel all that "full".

How come the best modes in these games are always the shortest. The distance sniper level was one shot. That should be a whole freaking level.

The aerial shooting mission should be atleast two levels. I'm not really upset at the COD4 for it. But these "lesser" game modes in FPS seem to be the most fun but play too small a part.

Back to the single player game. I'm glad there wasn't a boss level in the game and the flow was pretty good. The game while on rails didn't feel like it as you had the oppurtunity to move around. The CPU AI was pretty good as it flanked and got cover in good spots. And the AI didn't only shoot at the Human player.

I just felt the single player game was too short and really felt like an add-on to the MP game.

Agreed 100%! It's even better since you get all those experience points when you hold the HQ. Hopefully my feeble Level 12 won't be around much longer.

Headquarters for power leveling (yes, I just said power leveling while discussing a fps).

Private matches with friends (which unfortunately do not allow for leveling) when you have enough people is where this game truly shines IMO.
