Tuesday Night Shoot-em-ups: CoD4

Dare I suggest anything else? I'm not that stupid.

It's early in the day for me to start this thread, as the left coasters are likely still in bed, but the game apparently holds up to 18, and I assume uses the 'best host' system (seeing as it has a party system), so what the heck. I'm sure we'll be able to fit everyone who wants in; at least I hope so.

Tonight we start at 10:30p est. I don't know the game too well, but I'm going to try to mix up the modes and maps as best I can.

Who's in?

Actually, I need to play some public matches for a bit because I at least want to get a red dot sight for my assault rifle. That's the down side to private matches ... I don't get any goodies for my effort.

Surely you are only joking, yes? After the discussion about the beta, how the leveling system would never prove to be an issue with our poker nights? Or is it a case of 'just this one time?'

Surely you are only joking, yes? After the discussion about the beta, how the leveling system would never prove to be an issue with our poker nights? Or is it a case of 'just this one time?'

I would expect that this a one-time only deal, though only time will tell.

For instance unlocking create-a-class was pretty essential at rank 4, which can be done in 30-45 minutes. Additionally getting to rank 5 which allows you to earn the red-dot scope at 25 kills is also pretty essential, and can easily be earned in one night of play.

I apologize if I'm misunderstanding you, but you sound outright bitter. I am not a fan of leveling up systems, but once you learn the ins and outs of the game exploiting different perks is a lot of fun, and red-dot scopes make aiming a lot easier. I don't see why you'd want to spurn these elements that add depth to the game.

Thus far the leveling up in COD4 hasn't detracted at all from my enjoyment.

No, I really miss my red dot sight. I've been working my tail off at my new job, don't have much gaming time at all, and would like to play a few minutes in a public match so I can get the additional 12 kills with the assault rifle so I can have my red dot sight.

After I have my red dot I'll be happy to join poker night. If that is a problem, I'm sorry.

Oh, would you STOP! Sheesh...I mean, c'mon zepp; the dramatics are a little overboard. Some people will play tonight, some won't. Why can't that be the end of it? Why do we have to do this? What's the damn point?

Was this in reference to me? I didn't mean I wasn't going to play tonight, I just wanted to get in a public match or two first so I could get the stupid red dot sight. I played one match a few minutes ago and got my sight ... I'm happy now.

I just added in the post above that it's frustrating that you can't earn new perks in private games. That's not saying I don't want to play private games, because I love DSP poker nights. It's just that I only had a chance to play for a little over an hour last night and I just wanted the red dot I was used to from the beta.

That was a lot of fun tonight! That kill-cam is neat but also bloody embarassing for all the times I was aiming at the sky or the ground when someone was right in front of me!

I need to get me one of those red dot/laser sight thingys.....

Sorry, mix...misrepresented ya. Oh, well.

Fun night tonight, although I think I hate that one bomb thing. Too hectic. I like, of course, team deathmatch, and the attack and defend modes. Domination is kinda 'eh' to me as well, but I can play it.

I'm taking off that damn target before we play again, though. The one that says, 'Shoot me Mix...shoot me now."
