Pats are kind of like a pre-cap team with a lot of big stars willing to play for well under market pay, at least for this year.
Moss for instance, is foregoing like $6 or 7 million in salary, isn't he?
That would be one expensive ring.
Of course, he would have been misearable if he stayed another year in Oakland, although I don't know if he's estranged from Culpepper.
You can't put a price on happieness, can you?

You'll get little sympathy living in Bills' Country, Rick. I shed no tears.icvu42 wrote:Dolphins.. celebrating the 35th anniversary of the Perfect team, by going imperfect! 0-16 is looking pretty legit at this point.

My Dolphins are god awful. Although profootballtalk.com and yahoo.sports.com are saying that Parcells is interested in running the team from a GM role. We need a badass in the organization to right this ship because i'm fearful of who the current regime might draft with the number 1 or 2 pick next year.
We also need to play Beck to find out if he's any good so we can readdress that position if necessary.

When you hire a guy with an 18-37 college record to be your head coach, bad things will probably happen. Cameron's a great QB coach and offensive coordinator, but he's over his head as anything higher up than that.Rodster wrote:My Dolphins are god awful. The front office has made terrible draft picks on top of terrible coaching picks, so Parcells can only help.
Yeah Dave I agree with everything you said. Boy did I want him to succeed but if you listen to him duing his press conferences his voice has that deer in the headlights sound. Like what in the hell made me leave SD and a plush job for this crap. I do feel sorry for him because he does seem like a real nice guy but I don't think he's HC material. Randy Mueller is another one he is past his prime.
This club needs a hard ass to fix this mess. I can only dream but it would be nice to have Parcells in the F.O. and Cowher as H.C.

The Rams scored a TD today.sportdan30 wrote:Might be a couple teams going 0-16. As good as the Jayhawks season is going in college football, the opposite can be said for the Rams. Ce-le-brate! Good times cmon!..Theres gonna be a celebration...
Hey, did Bill Belichick used to run the Cobra Kai dojo? "Sweep the leg, Tommy!"
Seriously, while the Pats are making no friends, the best way to stop a team from running up the score is to stop them from scoring. The Patriots are really good, but giving up 52 points in the NFL is more a sign of ineptitude than poor sportsmanship.
I think this week's Pats-Colts game could be the biggest regular season game in NFL history. I know there have been big late-season division games in the past, but I can't remember a game where two teams who were so clearly better than everyone else were meeting this late in the season. I know it's the latest matchup for two undefeated teams ever. I feel sorry for anyone who gets stuck watching the Raiders/Texans instead!
Bears are done, and not just this season. What a mess. Need a new QB, a new RB, two offensive tackles, a DT, and two safeties. Brian Griese is who we thought he is, Rex Grossman with slightly better decision making and a weaker arm. Somewhere Scott Mitchell was watching that game and going, "Even I wouldn't make those throws." Ugh.

It was the 4th worst loss in the history of the franchise, and this franchise has been around for a little while. You Bears fans know all about the worst loss in franchise history (and you keep singing about it with your T-formation being the only words of the song anyone seems to actually know), but this is the worst since I've been alive, i think. At least it wasn't a shut out.Brando70 wrote:Hey, did Bill Belichick used to run the Cobra Kai dojo? "Sweep the leg, Tommy!"

It was like a medical examination more than a football game. At least now we know how shitty we really are. It's a shame to have lost a starting player for the season in a game like that, too. Our D isn't bad, but the Pats have the best O-line I think I've ever seen.
What I don't get is why the Pats have to resort to f***in with the radios, too. The skins had no radio contact with their coaches booth from about 2 minutes into the game. If people don't remember, there were radio shenanigans in the Jets game in game one as well, the one where all the fuss was made about the video taping. The Pats are a good enough team, you'd think they wouldn't need to do that stuff, but I guess it's all part of the mystique.
EDIT: Well, now I'm reading they were having problems with the QB radio, not the booth. Whatever. I don't actually think it had anything to do with the result of the game, but it's still crappy.
For the record, even though the newspapers tried to make a big deal out of running up the score, neither the players nor the coaches had any problems with that 4th down. Gibbs himself said 'I have no problems with anything they did, none.' They're smart enough to just take their woopin' and move on.
At least now, you'd figure the Redskins coaches will have the attention of the players from now on. What I think I've learned is that we're really no better than we were when Norv left. Someone needs to get Snyder out of the way. He's never going to sell the team, and he's only, like, 40. Ugh.
I saw a quote by one of the Redskins LBs referring to the Pats throwing deep with a big lead. Talked about hoping to come across them again. That sounded like a threat.
Was surprised with the Redskins secondary that it was so one-sided.
In baseball of course, hitters would be thrown at for trying to run up the score. No such unwritten rule in football.
Still I recall McMahon being brutalized after the '85 season, one reason the Bears didn't establish a dynasty. He was victim to some cheap shots, including one Packer DT or DE pile-driving him or something like that.
Brady has not been touched but don't be surprised if someone takes a cheap shot. Of course, he'll be protected but someone may do it anyways.

The NFL exported a superb product to London Sunday, didn't it? What a horrid game. Field and weather conditions didn't help at all, either.
Pats by 14 this Sunday at Indianapolis. Mark it down.
Take care,

At least the Dolphins Cheerleaders got a standing ovation from the crowd. I've seen them in action and let me tell you they deserve every standing O they get.pk500 wrote:The NFL exported a superb product to London Sunday, didn't it? What a horrid game. I was really scratching my head over the scheduling of the London game. I can see why they would want a New York team, but the Dolphins? The Brits have already seen NFL Europe-caliber teams.
I think it's a neat gimmick, especially if they schedule a bye the week afterward. Some NFL bobblehead (Tiki Barber maybe) was saying the travel and time difference thing really wasn't that big of a deal considering you have East Coast teams that have to go to Seattle every year. It was interesting to hear people actually cheering for Eli Manning!
Zeppo, BTW, I agree with you on the Skins and Snyder. Terrible, terrible owner and too much of an egomaniac to see it. Having been through the terrible Michael McCaskey era in Chicago, I know how one man with too much power and not enough common sense can cock up a perfectly good franchise.

Brando the reason the Dolphins were selected was because the owner had no problems with them playing in London. Also according to league sources the Dolphins have the second largest fan base in Europe. The team with the largest Europe fan base are the Cowboys.
I do agree with you I also see it as a gimmick that won't work. They don't care for our brand of Football and vice versa. Someone told me that the NFL shutdown NFL Europe. Is that true?

Well when the Redskins put 51 on the Rams in the 83 playoffs the idea that they were running up the score never crossed my mind. Maybe I should hate Gibbs?Zeppo wrote:

Im glad the Skins are above all this bullshit.

Probably because Bill want to try out those 4th down plays in real game situation, he figures he might need it against the Colts.kevinpars wrote:To hell with sportsmanship, I would laugh my ass off if Brady took a hit to the knee late in a game with the Patriots up big. What exactly is the point in going for it on 4th down with that big a lead?? What about getting the #2 QB some work?
But whatever, people got to stop whining about this.
