I have the Macbook Pro which comes with all the bells and whistles but for any day work the regular Macbook will do and it's cheaper too. The new Leopard software is nice , good time to buy one.

MacBook is entry level, in a white plastic enclosure.

MacBook Pro is more costly, with faster CPU, bigger HDD, dedicated GPU and bigger and higher resolution screens. MacBook Pros come in aluminum enclosure.

There is a site which tracks the last time a new model came out. Usually, every 6 months, they come out with new models with better specs at the same price points.

Not sure how long it's been since they released the current laptop configurations. They have their big MacWorld show the first week of January.

No guarantees either way but it's possible they come out with new laptops then at the same price points.

Also, Macs should be coming with their new OS Leopard and the new version of iLife 08 preinstalled by now.

Woo hoo! You can't go wrong with a mac:)

One of my fave sites (www.macrumors.com) is reporting that we may be seeing laptop upgrades as early as next month so it might be wise to hang on for a bit until then. You can also check out the forums if you have problems as the people there are pretty fanatical about mac related stuff.

I've been using the Macbook Pro (MBP) since it was released and it's a fantastic laptop. The fact that you can install Windows via Boot Camp now makes buying a PC laptop almost a mute point considering all the extras you get when you buy a mac. I installed Leopard yesterday and it has added a couple very cool features that improve upon the operating system very nicely. The Macbook is a bit more affordable and has pretty much all the same bells and whistles as the MBP except for a few ports and slots. The only complaint I have is the same one I've had with all my apple laptops and that is the heat. You could fry an egg on this thing!

No problem, I just get more done and do a lot more things without them. I might get one again in the future but right it's all PC's for me.
