Guitar Hero 3 demo

Post by ScoopBrady »

Got this from the IGN boards and supposedly this works. I'm at work now so I can't check but thought I'd post it for those who are interested.

The Guitar Hero 3 demo is only available on the new OXM demo disc or with the new Tony Hawk game but people have uploaded it and you don't need a modded 360 to play it.

Here's the link:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=5OX44D2U

Here's the instructions:
1.download file and save to desktop
2.open the iso file and extract the "contents" folder
3.burnedata cd with contents folder on it
4.put cd into 360 and it picks up the file from cd, GH3 will show up under your demo's and more section.

Downloaded, will try this out when I get home at 6ish. Of all games, I think the need for a GH3 demo is pretty superfluous, but hey, why not.

I dled it at work and burned a copy for my friend. He tried it and it works. Since GH3 is not being made by Harmonix I'm more interested in seeing what Activision did with it than anything. From all accounts Hammer-ons and pull-offs are easier and the notes are a little more forgiving. I can't wait to play Evenflow. :D

Okay. Got this thing up and going without any issues. Quick impressions:

- Game graphics have a much more detailed, cleaner look in the menus and in game play. Helps menu functionality, but loses a little of the simple charm in GH2. In-game, you also lose a bit of charm as the game gets a grittier edge, but the graphics are clearly more impressive here so I can't complain too much.

- After playing 4 songs (at which point demo kicks you back to main menu), pull on/offs definitely seem more forgiving.

That's it really. Otherwise, it's good ol' GH.

This demo is on Xbox Live now...My arm is killing me after playing this for 30 mins with the regular controller. I have never played GH before but I think I have to get this game now. It was so much fun.

Think I can pick this up on Sunday without a preorder? Will there be enough?

Shouldn't be a problem. I've never seen a game not available without a preorder. Target, Circuit City, Best Buy will all have you covered.

Well, I've had the full version since Monday and I have to say that it's the best Guitar Hero released to me. I don't like the boss battles being forced in Career mode but the set list is the best of the bunch IMO. Slayer and Metallica on Hard is friggin' insane! 8O Black Magic Woman, Pride and Joy, and Cliffs of Dover are a blast to play too. I haven't been able to check out online play but it's in there further cementing this as the best Guitar Hero title yet. Another plus it the fact that probably around 70% of the songs are the original recordings.

You're making it very difficult to resist purchasing this game......

Is it true that you do not have to be as precise hitting the notes at the exact right moment? If that is the case, it might benefit my relatively slow reflexes.

I think I'm going to pick this one up sometime this weekend.

I need to trade a few games in anyhow.

I thought I saw you playing it Monday night on my friends list. I was thinking 'how did scoop get the game so early? wtf?' Glad to see you like it though.

What is up with the Sunday release for this game anyway? :?:

Scoop, did you get the new guitar or game only? If so, how do you like it compared to the 3 we have seen (both ps2 SGs and the Xplorer)

Just a thought that I just had, everyone playing the demo have had to use the xplorer or the controller, reports have said it seems a little more forgiving, this making it easier. Could this be because no one has used or is using the new guitar which is wireless? Just a thought I doubt it holds much water

I bought the game only. I don't think the controller has anything to do with the added response time though so the new one should be just fine.

I tried out the demo today. I agree that this looks like it will be a great edition to the series. The game looks sharper, and I think the improved graphics make it easier to make out notes when they are clustered together (not that that helps me with hitting them).

I agree with Scoop that the song list looks great -- classic rock, metal, some good alternative stuff. The demo kind of epitomizes that -- going from Hit Me With Your Best Shot to Rock You Like a Hurricane to Even Flow was a lot of fun.

I am probably not getting the game next week only because I preordered COD4 instead, but this is definitely going on the Christmas list.
