I've decided to scrap the accelerated clock and go to 10-minute quarters with the regular clock.
Accelerated clock doesn't provide enough time to evaluate the defense and make multiple pre-snap adjustments, if needed. I really enjoy those, even if half the time they backfire!
Take care,
PK

I get to a page where it says "to download them click here", but the link behind the "click here" isn't actually there, and there is nothing else to click!
To get the latest patch, you can go to the following FTP URL on EA's website and download it from the folder:

I stopped using EA's patches a long time ago. They are nothing more than roster updates. You're better off downloading the more accurate and updated weekly rosters from http://www.football-freaks.com
I cant tell which rosters to grab over at football-freaks. Any suggestions? Would love to be able to grab some decent rosters and not need to use/run various editors that some of the threads discuss.
Tony the best advice I can give you is to check the feedback rating and read the comments at the bottom of the file. The file creator usually addresses some tweaks he sees fit for a better gaming experience.

Does this mean that the PS2 plays great (what most are saying about the PC version) minus the graphics? Sorry if that is an obtuse question...
I really enjoy the PS3 version, and I think it looks pretty, so does this mean that I would *love* the PS2 version, but it will look butt ugly? I doubt I could switch at this point ... too much of a graphics whore to ever turn back.
Not sure if I ever replied to this jcalvert. Anyway, the PS2 version plays very, VERY good imo and of the 3 versions I own it gets the most of my stick time.
I just love online play when it comes to football. I can play it year round and the PS2 version is the best online. I'll be using the PC version to play through a season with a buddy of mine.
the 360 version i'm in a very good online league, but to be honest it's a chore to play it anymore. I really liked it at first, but after playing the PS2 and PC versions, it's pretty lacking in the fun factor.
I rented the original Xbox version of 08 and it is worlds better than the 360 version. I will take the drop in graphics along with the much improved gameplay.
Kevin if you think the Xbox version of Madden 08 is good you should see it on a PC. It's absolutely stunning and it plays just like the Xbox version too.
PK let me know if you figured out where all the NCAA files go? I still have not used the mod for that reason.
Too bad there wasn't a video on how not to have the CPU throw 10 ints a game.
Watching those vids are like watching the vids of people in GH getting perfect scores. They are just good at those games. I will never be that good, sadly.

i don't equate the video I watched to the GH videos by any means. Granted, I only watched one (reading the Defense, Man or Zone) and it's all basic stuff. For as hard as you like to be on sports games I'd like to think you understand the basics of the sports for which the games you b*tch about represent.

See, I go the other way with stuff like that. I'd been playing really badly and losing to some terrible players because I didn't trust my football instincts. I was throwing a bunch of picks and generally making awful decisions because I was spooked by the super DBs/LBs. Watching him play reminded me that you can be successful by just playing sound football, and I've been doing much better since.

It's not so much the football stuff but memorizing the coverages and doing the 3 step drop like clockwork. I understand football and games but by no means am I from the Peyton Manning school of videogame football.

I was somewhat skeptical of all the "turnovers are out of control" talk because I thought it lent itself to a certain in-game unpredictability that was kind of missing from Madden.
I suppose the last game I played where Tom Brady threw 10 interceptions against my Bears in the Super Bowl led me to reconsider, lol.
I agree that the db AI is unrealistic, especially with defenders swarming to balls they can't see. But will dumbing down can the defense now lead to the offense being unstoppable?
There is always this imbalance in Madden gameplay, and it gets frustrating.
