Trent Edwards looked damn good in leading the Bills to a victory over the Jets today. If he plays well and the Bills pull off the upset next Monday night against the Cowboys, it will be very interesting if Losman's knee is healthy after the bye week for the game against the Ravens Oct. 21.
I think Losman loses his job. I think he must.
Edwards had better yardage and completion percentage today than Losman has the entire season. If the kid does it again, then I think you stick with him.

I can't believe what has happened in San Diego over the last 4 weeks. What a freakin nightmare for Norv Turner after inheriting such a fantastic football team. If I'd been at that game though I probably would've been chanting the exact same thing. Who cares if you have a record of losing in the playoffs? Who cares if you can't get along with the GM? We were winning games and were even considered the best team in football... Bring back Marty! Just when he started to figure out that new hybrid Marty ball system he leaves and now we suck ass. I heard a caller on 1090am after the game who was super fired up, almost to the point of tears, over this situation. Personally I love that kind of devotion to a team. Yeah, it's just a game but if you're not allowed to get passionate as a fan then what is the point?
The decision to fire Marty may be questionable but can all of the losses be attributed to coaching?
I don't think they beat the Patriots no matter who was coaching and the GB game was a contest until a 50-yard slant turned into a 60-yard TD late in the game.
Didn't see the game today but seems like the Chiefs got some breaks, the pass to Gonzo in a crowd and then a short pass, missed tackle turning into a late TD.
That 14-2 record was probably better than what the Chargers were, just as 1-3 probably isn't indicative.

I don't have it on hand, but I read some analysis on whether Norv Turner is as bad a head coach as people say he is. The answer is yes, he's terrible. Wins and losses are never entirely due to a coach, but Norv definitely gets quite a bit of the blame. But teams that go 14-2 do only average about 9 wins the following season.
And as a fan of Indiana football, a program absolutely gutted by Cam Cameron, I'm not surprised the Dolphins are off to an 0-4 start.

I'd love to see the Packers make a SB run, but I just don't think they will hold up over 16 games. They NEED to find some sort of running game before it catches up to them. At some point teams will figure out how to limit the passing attack.
For now though, I'm just enjoying the ride. The Packers are sitting atop the North at 4-0, and the Sehawks are 3-1. Good times

The Bears and Chargers are interesting cases of not meeting expectations. With the Bears, they clearly don't have a lot of talent on offense. They traded their best offensive player in Thomas Jones, they lack a go-to receiver, their line has gotten old, and they have the most criticized Caucasian QB in the league. 
A healthy defense could make up for some of those flaws, but not a defense missing it's entire opening day secondary and one of its best players in Lance Briggs. The coaching has definitely not been sharp this season, but I think the Bears are suffering more from a lack of talent on offense and injury issues on a defense that can no longer bail out the offense.
Having watched the Chargers off and on throughout the season, they are suffering more from coaching issues than talent issues. They have a solid defense, one of the top 3 offensive players in the game in LT, and a tight end better than most wide receivers. They are suffering through some poor play by Rivers, but I think a lot of their issues are coaching related. They simply do not look like a fired up team the way they did last year, especially on offense. Well, that was a much more enjoyable afternoon than the last time at FedEx. The weather was great, probably too hot for the dome team, I guess. It was nice to see the defense have a good game, and I have to say I didn't expect it with those gaudy numbers the Lions had been putting up and the 34 pts. they scored in the 4th quarter last week with those big receievers. They had 48 yds at the half, and 144 or so by the end of the game. The D-line actually got pressure without a lot of help from blitzes and dogs. It was like they were daring the Lions to run, because every play the 2 DTs were lined up outside the guards. And then in the 2nd half, they went with 3 DEs and Marcus Washington in a 4-point stance on the left end, until he got hurt.
Cambpell was very, very good, if you ask me. I think he is going to end up being a pretty good QB. He didn't throw more than a couple of deep balls, and none connected, but he made some fine throws and some outstanding decisions. The TD to Cooley and the throw on 3rd down to him earlier on the same drive were both throws that I though were going to be picked, but Campbell really zipped them in there. I think a better LB maybe makes those picks or at least knocks them down, but man, he can put some mustard on the ball. And the last TD throw was just great to see, as he held it, held it, held it, held it, and then right before taking a major hit, *whoop* dumped it back across the grain to the wide open Sellers.
It was really nice to have one of those games, after I don't know how long. It wasn't really over until after the safety made it 16-3, or really, until the huge stroke of luck when Rock recovered the fumble after the long punt return from Thrash, but the final quarter had no drama. That's a nice feeling for a home crowd!

It was just good to see the defense come out and play after getting the crap kicked out of them in the first half. I agree about not reading too much into it. The first half was one of the worst defensive performances I have seen from this unit. Daniel Manning got absolutely owned, and it looked like the whole team forgot how to tackle. Griese threw a Grossman-esque pick, and Cedric Benson did nothing all day except for his TD run. Those problems don't go away because of a win. Maybe the Bears could covertly swap their Adrian Peterson for Minnesota's Adrian Peterson before next week's game.
