Halo 3 Impressions/Reviews

Post by Zlax45 »

I just came across IGN's review of HALO 3 and thought we could post impressions on one of the biggest releases in the history of Video gaming.

http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/821/821911p1.html

Anyone planning on going to a midnight release?

IGN says the game is somewhat short as a single player but all the reviews seem to love it with Gamespot giving it a 9.5 with 1up.com and Eurogamer giving it a 10.

MS is going to make a killing on this game.

After playing the small ball title of SR, I'm downright fearful of the homophobic racist assholes that we'll see in this game.

Online is going to be a f*** but hopefully we'll see some really great matches with SR folks.

Teal, Fshguy, and I are all picking it up at midnight and then we're going to try to run through the entire campaign in co-op on Tuesday. We've got room for a fourth is someone is going to be available to play all day.

Not much to add right now. I only played it for about an hour earlier, on normal, but I thought it was very challenging. The Covenant snipers were kicking my ass. Granted, I'm no Halo expert, but I like to think I'm pretty decent at shooters. The enemy AI, in the little bit I played, impressed me. They were running, and ducking for cover, as well as flanking me. A buddy of mine said it took him 2 hours to finish the first mission on Heroic, dying several times in the process. The matchmaking system isn't up and running yet, and achievements aren't registering on my gamerscore. I'm assuming they're associated with one another.

The controls are responsive, and the framerate is solid. The environments are beautiful, but still not on par with what we saw in Gears of War.

The schedule right now is to get home and sleep for a few hours and then start at 8:00am EDT. But if we all get home and are ready to start we might just play through the night.

There is a place in New York City near St. Marks Place that has broken the street date, and been selling it since earlier this week. Two of the doormen in my apartment both have it and have been playing it -- they have been speaking very highly of it in terms of weapons and vehicles.

Yeah, I picked Halo 2 up at midnight and was finished with the campaign by around dinner time. 8O

Tuesday is my birthday so I figured why not take a vacation day and try the insane stunt again with Halo 3. Although at 38 I think I may be getting too old for these marathon gaming sessions.

Happy Birthday man. Maybe we can still hookup to do some impromptu co-op someday.

Looking forward to playing it. NOT looking forward to teabagging 12 year olds. Wish there was an option in matchmaking to match according to AGE, and not skill level, as my skill level in Halo is akin to that of a 12 year old-wait, they may be better... :?

This game is going to be huge in sales. Based on pre-orders alone, the sales numbers could add up to more than $200 million in over the next 24 hours.

Huge sales + great reviews + word of mouth + holiday season = crazy amounts of $$$$

Another kick #ss review:

Bring it on.

200 million dollars in 24 hours is very conservative. Microsoft used very conservative numbers for Halo 2 ($125 million in 24 hours) and it far exceeded that number.

My guess based on the hype and franchise that Halo 3 might generate $500 million in 48 hours. ;)

$200 million will help cut in to the billion dollar hit MS took in repairing all the shoddy 360s.

Still, a very nice profit nonetheless.

Those grapes less than sweet, Dan? :P A PS3-only owner wandering into a Halo 3 thread to trash the 360's durability? That's kinda fanboy, no?

I've seen more than a few 360 gamers do the same in PS3 threads.

I'll be back in the 360 camp soon enough. Just traded in a whole slew of old cds that were collecting dust in the basement for around $150 credit.

Well, it is kind of funny and fitting that the Halo 3 Nascar blew its engine during yesterday's race. RROD anyone?

Where is this place near St. Mark's Place? I don't know of any new video game stores near there, do you know where it is exactly?
