Mysteriously, my version of NHL 08 doesn't offer online play. Can't help you there.

Take care,
PK

Not sure, kick. Haven't even checked. IP play is available for Madden 08, so hopefully it will be there for NHL 08.kicko wrote:you can still direct ip right? just in case you can't find it. I am going to have to scoop that up for some play on the go lappy style.
LOL. Close. I didn't open it the second time I purchased it. I started reading about too many issues and decided why force myself to enjoy it when I wasn't 100 percent happy with it? It truly is an enjoyable game, but not $60 good in my opinion, especially if I'm not taking advantage of the online play.dbdynsty25 wrote:He's already opened it, the returned it, the purchased it, then returned it again. http://forums.ea.com/mboards/thread.jsp ... 7&tstart=0EA wrote:"The NHL game development team have diagnosed a problem with online user disconnects while trying to connect to a percentage of Online Team Play, Versus, and Online Shootout game modes. EA will be working to deliver a solution to this problem and will communicate this to our online community as soon as we can. We realize this is a huge inconvenience as online play is a big part of the game. Please be assured that we are working on a patch as quickly as possible.
In the meantime, if you find that you are disconnected from the server while entering an online game mode, we recommend that you reset your hardware before attempting to enter another online game mode to increase your chances of success.
We are also aware of an issue how losses are tracked in Dynasty Mode. We are working towards addressing this issue as well."

Experiencing this disconnection once puts your game in a state where future match attempts in these modes may fail. Additionally, any players you were matching up with when the issue occurred will now be in the same state since they were disconnected as well.
While our development team works on a permanent solution, we suggest restarting your Microsoft Xbox 360 immediately after the error occurs. This will force the game to reload and clear up any bad state the game has entered. Keep in mind, though, that if a player you’re matching up with has recently experienced this same disconnection and has not reset their Xbox 360, your next attempt may disconnect and you'll have to reset your console again.
Help EA spread the word around the community by mentioning this over voice at the team selection screen before the game starts. The more people that know about this solution, the more people will restart their consoles to clear things up, and the less likely it is that the issue will happen again.

Hey PK (or anyone else with the PC version) -pk500 wrote:I know it isn't as good as the next-gen console version, and I know it's not an entirely realistic game of hockey, but the PC version of NHL 08 is really growing on me because it's just plain FUN as hell.
Normally I'm an insane stickler for accuracy with hockey games since it's my favorite sport. But I realize that no company ever has reached that kind of realism level with a hockey game, and maybe it never will. So if the game is fun and has an acceptable level of realism, I'll take it.
The PC version uses what EA calls the Hybrid control stick. The right stick is used for shooting and the number 2 button is used to pass.WillHunting wrote:PK, does the PC version have the right stick for everything and the shoulder button for passing (assuming you play the game with a twin stick pad)?
You can pass with the right stick, too. You just need to press the No. 8 button on a Logitech Rumblepad (same as the R2 on a PS2 controller) to pass with the right stick. You also can poke-check with the right stick.Rodster wrote:The PC version uses what EA calls the Hybrid control stick.
