I've got shots going wide everywhere....they nailed the Blues perfectly!sportdan30 wrote:Have you guys seen shots going wide of the net on the 360 version, or is everything on goal?

Yup, goal mouth collision detection could be improved, at least in the replays. I had one goal on a wraparound through the side post. Still, it looked and felt legit in real time, just strange looking on the replay. I think it's kinda the same with DB's example - no doubt that was meant to be a deflection off the goalie's skate.dbdynsty25 wrote:I did see one troubling thing...check out the video I made of it. Yikes.
I'm In! Just picked up the game and I'm ready for a Rivals/NHL98 "Revival"ddtrane wrote:Was waiting for tomorrow with my $10 giftcard at Circuit City. You should try all connecting in chat through XBL before you start the game. See if that works.Zeppo wrote:I just played one online game of 2 on 2 with Acid, Diablo and Scoop and HOLY CRAP I AM LOSING MY s***! We're back in business!
Not to say there aren't issues. In the lobby, there is a 5-minute timer counting down, which may be OK in a non-private game, but really should be something you can disable in a private game. Not only is it lame on the surface, but it seems to start counting when the lobby is created, meaning any late-comers to the room have a very short lobby time.
Further, once the game starts, you can only talk to your teammates. This could be a good thing in a 3 on 3 game, maybe, but with 2 on 2, it's not very cool at all. At least it should let you chat overall once the game is over, or between periods, but no. And then once the game is over, you don't go back into the lobby or anything, you just quit back to the main menu. Lame.
But the gameplay with 2 on 2 is freaking fun as all hell. Really, really good. It will only get better once we start to get the hang of the controls. I'm not sure I'm sold on 3 on 3, but it's SO nice to have 2 on 2 online sports gaming back!
Yeah, they had those teams in the PSP version last year and it's pretty f'n cool. I didn't know they were going to be in the 360 version this year so it was a pleasant surprise.dbdynsty25 wrote:BTW...playing with the international league teams is f'n awesome. I have no clue about any of the players but it's just a cool twist on the same old same old NHL. It's like having all of the leagues in FIFA...it keeps it fresh.
It wasn't a replay thing though...I knew some crazy sh*t happened before I even went to the replay. I was controlling the defender and I thought the puck went around behind me and all of the sudden it's in the goal. It was weird.Sully wrote:That was odd, DB. There was one review I read that said the collision detection on instant replay was way off. Seems to be the case there.
You can do either. The game we played we all had player switch going. You can lock into any player before the match though, I think even goalie.JackB1 wrote:Did u guy lock onto one player or switch around? Is there an echo on the internet?ScoopBrady wrote:The only downfalls for the 2-on-2 / 3-on-3 is the 5-minute timer in the main lobby at the beginning, the fact that you can only talk to your teammates, and after the game you don't go back to a lobby.

- I'm getting out hit
- I'm getting out shot
- I'm getting beat on many faceoffs
- I love how the PP slows when the CPU team is in your zone and resumes accelerations when the puck is cleared
- Stat overlays are there, I've seen them.. not as much as I would like, but I've seen them
- Goalie play is so much better, no more goofy bounce off the top of his pads into the goal
- Top players HAVE to be watched, Jagr had 4 goals.. if he's left open, he's going to burn you
- Better in between stoppages as you don't always see shots on goal
I will always remember my first goal. Jay McKee a slapper!
I would suggest if you are new to the series to start on Pro and go from there. I feel like a chump on AS and I played 07 to death. Each game on AS is going to be mentally challenging for me. I have to find the other teams stars, hit smart, poke check, pass accurately, etc.. I had many penalties that would not have been penalties in 07.
In all, initial impressions are I love this game. It does so many things right in terms of real hockey.
I'd throw in the inability to get rid of cutscenes and lack of co-op vs AI. But all of these are nit picks, its great fun.ScoopBrady wrote:The only downfalls for the 2-on-2 / 3-on-3 is the 5-minute timer in the main lobby at the beginning, the fact that you can only talk to your teammates, and after the game you don't go back to a lobby.
And passing speed. But it's Jrod, it's not like we didn't know what his first post about the game was going to include.MizzouRah wrote:I'm getting smoked on AS. I played a game on Pro and although I lost, I could at least move the puck. I can't believe I haven't won a game yet.
JRod, I think there is a slider for passing accuracy.
The EA Forums are full of complaints about online play but it's tough to wade through the chaff. On the other hand, someone captured what I presume is your black line problem pretty well here:JackB1 wrote:Anyone else have any of these or other issues playing online?
