while TW does have a few problems that need immediate addressing I believe putting in its current state is awesome.

Talk about challenging and rewarding. On pro Tour difficulty it is a blast.

Now the animations itself....uggh...that needs addressing....but the design and physics itself are perfect.

Thanks, Divot. Tell them that the gameplay is awesome.

Yeah, I don't agree that putting, except for the animation, is a big problem. It's not my preferred system but once you accept it for what it is and practice, putting is challenging and rewarding. The great thing is that they got rid of the suction physics and predetermined results.

I agree with Leebo, the game is just a ton of fun. I hope this game sells well so they don't go back to the "Xtreme Street" Tiger games that were on the consoles before 07 on the 360.

The only thing I really, really wish could be addressed is the garbage, rubber-band leaderboards for the tournaments. That portion of the game is competely unplayable to me because of that. Its a shame because the tournaments could really be great, but as it stands there is zero incentive to shoot well which takes the fun completely out of it.

Putting has been getting a whole lot easier and more predictable with practice. What i've been doing is shorting my range from10-15 yards from the cup. I also try and read the green where the ball is going to break. I've sunk some pretty long ones already.

Can someone answer this for me. Has anybody been given only 2-3 clubs on a certain shot which neither of them was correct for that type of shot?

Yes. But the difference is let's say between using a pitch wedge or a sand wedge depending on the situation and ball placement. In other words, if I have a shot at the pin hole of no more than 80 yards, I don't see the CPU handing me an 8 iron if that's what you're experiencing. The different clubs available has always been withing a reasonable range of what you want to do with your shot.

JRod wrote:Geez this game is more frustrating than fun.

The putting system is downright horrible and ruins the game. It makes no sense. You never get a feel for distance and its completely random.
Haven't had an issue with the putting. I think the putting is much, much better than it has been.
JRod wrote:Then you get stupid EA sports crap. There's a hole at bandon dunes where you hit the weeds of the tee. WTF is that. It's crap like that that ruins the game.
Wow, that's still there? What an oversight. I quit playing Bandon Dunes because of it. It'd be a good idea to tell divot the particular hole you're talking about, as I don't remember. They really need to fix that tee shot.
JRod wrote:And the ball flight physics are terrible and not realistic. That results in a lot of video game golf moments and not real golf moments.
8O ummm...it IS video game golf. For real golf moments, get your clubs and go out to the links. With my real golf game, I'm far happier sitting in my chair scoring in the 70's and 80's, rather than on the links scoring triple digits...

Thanks that explains it then. I'm not much of a golfer and don't follow the sport other than playing golf games.

Leebo33 wrote:Divot, where is the best place to post a question concerning the linking of profiles to Gamertags (a really dumb, dumb decision IMO as the uploading of photos is tied to gamertags and that means to get 4 pics under 4 profiles you need 4 EA accounts linked to 4 XBL accounts...hope I am wrong on that)? I tried to look in the EA forum, but it says "unable to launch application" and of course the link at easportsworld.com doesn't work (nor do the banner ad links work...what a disaster that site is).

I would also like to know if there is a way for the game to autoload the profiles other than default as it is a time waster to load them each time.

I love the game, but the folks that designed it apparently don't appreciate the real world ramifications to some of their decisions. I mean, if you are going to have a really cool feature like game face why not have the pics saved on a hard drive for any profile to use? And why the heck do I need 4 accounts loaded to play with 4 controllers. Are there any other sports games in history that require that?
Leebo,

I sent your comments above to EA this morning to see if there is anything that can be done to make this simpler in TW08.

Stay tuned....

Divot (or anyone that may know),

Just picked this up and it really does play a solid game of console golf!

One BIG question...

When setting up a game online, is there any way in hell to turn OFF the shot clock!?!? Even when I set up a private match my highest choice for shot clock is 60 seconds. I played an entire round with a buddy last night and wanted to go get a drink and hit the bathroom SO bad but could not due to fear of being penalized!!!

Even in the setting description it says "Turn the shot clock on or off" but I definitely do not see any way to trun it completely of. BIG oversight if this is true. While 60 seconds is not horrilbe, when I am playing with a buddy and we are shooting the sh*t or just trying to figure out shots it can be a real pain!

HELP!

After renting it and playing for a couple of nights, Ditto! This would be a must buy for me if not for the borked Tourney AI. Without that, I'm still having fun doing one-offs of the various courses, but I don't have the same kind of fun that I would tackling a *honestly* challenging tournament.

Photo gameface worked fine for me, too. I guess the servers have probably recovered by now?

Sorry, been in transit for the past 36 hours and just arrived in West Africa.

I don't think you can turn the shot clock off in online play. I have not had enough time to mess with online play as I have been readying myself for this trip. However, if this is the case, i can't see why you can't turn off the snot clock when playing private matches.

BTW, there is an update for TW08 on XB Live as of earlier today....it addresses freezing issues discovered in Tiger Challenge and an online play stability update.

Is the gameface website still broken? I can get to the page below where it says Upload Front View but when I click on the Browse button nothing happens, have tried it multiple times over the last couple of days with 3 different browsers with no luck.

I couldn't upload either until I upgraded to the latest version of flash or whatever the name of the plug-in that is used. As soon as I upgraded it worked the first time in IE.

Not too bad actually....DSL and if I did not have to go through my company's firewall, it would be even faster.

Below are some questions that I would like to ask you.....I had troubles for the first 10 days, but I got everything to work last week and it worked like a charm.

1. Did you create a sportsworld account before you got the game? Also, did you create an ea account in the game (the first time you tried to go online?)

2. When you create an account in the game, it will ask you to enter an email address and a password. That's the address and password that you need to use when logging onto sportsworld.

3. Are you using the email and password that you entered in the game?

I recommend you check out all of these questions and if you are still having problems, then contact EA directly through Tech Support and let them address it on their end. At the end of the day, Photo GameFace is a great feature, but it was NOT ready for prime time. I do know they are working on the login/Gamertag issue as well as increasing server capacity/bandwidth. The EA Sports web folks really dropped the ball on this feature and they are playing catch up.....
