Nope, but I think what I said is pretty fair - it is more of a simulation type game than a NFS type game. I am sure there are better F1 simulations on the market (maybe PC based), but from a console gamer point of view, I think this is an excellent game.
From a console perspective F1:CE is very good but pails in comparison to Grand Prix 4, F1 Challenge 2007, and most rFactor F1 mods.

One day I may actually get into PC gaming beyond FM, OOTPB, and WoW, but until then I will have to settle for the best racing I can get in front of my TV.

Going OT a little bit, but one thing I have been meaning to try is to hook up my laptop to the Sony BRAVIA 40 wonderful goodness that is my TV. I doubt I could ever get a decent place to setup a wheel in my living room, so that will probably limit me to non-racing PC games.

Getting back on topic, I had my first sign of PS3 BD disk or hardware trouble last night. I picked up 300 BD and with about five minutes or so in the move, things paused and slowed down for several seconds. With a little over one minute left, the entire movie just froze (screen went blank). I took at the disk, cleaned it off, restarted the PS3, put 300 back in, and watched the final few minutes error free. I doubt the disk is bad and I do not see how the system would have problems - does not have enough mileage on it yet. Will have to keep a close watch to see if anything else strange happens. The BD was brand new and the PS3 had not been running prior to watching the movie.

Once you pull the trigger on PC racing sims you will never look at console racers the same way.

Wrt the PS3 issues you are having i've read that the disc player sometimes gets a little to warm and causes pauses and skips in the playback. You might want to eject the disc and see if it's feels very warm and that could be part of the problem.

I've also read that enabling file sharing(defualt), don't quote me on that, sometimes causes movie playback issues as well. Turning off file sharing or whatever it's called clears up the skipping and pauses. If some knows what the hell i'm trying to say, please speak up. :D

I'm not sure what your issue is, but I also have 300 and had no problems with it what so ever. Just thought I would let you know.

That's great news indeed, however I don't see NHL '08 playing at 60fps if it's already been announced at 30fps. Can a patch improve the framerate? Unlikely, but maybe I'm wrong.

Thanks for the link Jimmy.

I don't blame Moore at all.

But this news lends some credence to the theory that EA deliberately hampered PS3 Madden to highlight the X360 Madden, especially when there are such obvious financial inducements for them to push X360 version sales.

Madden has not been out a month and now, they've finally figured it out?

So a month more and they would have had the PS3 version on par?

Or are we to believe that EA Tiburon, which probably has way more resources given the cash cow that Madden is (not to mention NCAA, NASCAR and Tiger), is not as good as EA Canada, which is doing a heavy redesign of NBA Live from last year, is able at just a month after Madden 08 release to get better results?

(There's also talk of PS3 NHL 08 and FIFA 08 also being 60 fps, so let's not say it's only about basketball vs. football)

So the possible conclusions are, they're lying about more time with PS3 tools or EA Tiburon are incompetent compared to EA Canada, which has fewer resources.

No tears for Sony here due the way EA mistreated Xbox owners with s*** ports last gen.

What goes around comes around.

EA looks at only one thing... consoles owned= $$$$...so porty porty for PS3 until it passes the 360. Maybe not even then since its alot easier to create the game for the lesser machine.

From what i've read EA writes code once. That's the reason why Microsoft wanted to be first out of the gate. Pretty much all EA multiplatform games are written using the 360 as it's base system.

They may tweak PS3 games a little here and there but they are done with regard to any major graphics update until Microsoft releases the next Xbox or Sony's PS4.

Would this offer turn the corner for Sony? If I didn't own one it's definitely something I would consider although they still lack in the game department.

Ohhh it'll sell, it'll sell at that price. Reliability is the key, and Sony has that.

And MLB '08

That's just about everyone. See the Dreamcast (RIP) for the most depressing example.

I thought the Dreamcast had some very cool, innovative games. What killed it was all the PS2 hype and no copy protection. I was always happy with the amount of games on that system.

EA Sports killed the DC.

I have no doubt I'll own a 360 again, but PS3 sales will definitely increase at a $399 price tag.

Of course they would increase. But here is the thing, I don't care if they increase I already own the system.

I want the games to increase.

I do as well. I'm confident they will. A lot depends on the games that interest you. For me, I know HSG5 is a first day purchase. As is Unchartered and GT Prologue as long as there are no glaring problems with either. There's a few other intriguing titles I'll definitely take look at, but not necessarily purchase. I'll pick up NBA 2K8 as long as there are no framerate issues. That'll be a major disappoint if indeed there is.

Gaming isn't an obssession as it once was for me. I read more reviews than I actually play games nowadays. I can't imagine owning more than four or five games at once, especially at $60 a pop.

Ah never played it.

I'll admit that I am kind of waiting for Singstar myself. Should be a hit with the family.

Just had a 3-4 hour session with Heavenly Sword. Haven't beat Whiptail yet, which is the second boss of the game and in the second chapter. I think the game might have 4 or 5 chapters, each with multiple stages.

It's a lot of what'd I'd hope for, a fast-paced action game with variety to keep you playing, which was my experience with God of War.

I don't notice jaggies but I see polygons on Nariko's shoulders in the cut scenes. Like the environments a lot and the panoramic shots showing the architecture against the waterfalls is kind of like Ico -- although the puzzles to unlock gates and such aren't as intricate as the ones in Ico.

Got past the catapult stage without using motion control for aftertouch. Found that I could get off more shots without switching to the cannonball cam and trying to guide the cannonball. So I just feathered the controls between each shots and got more shots in the air and triangulated based on where the previous ones hit.

You do need motion control and aftertouch to open some gates though.

I think this could take me more than 10 hours on default difficulty and would have appeal to replay at a more diffcult level. I wouldn't need to watch the cut-scenes to follow the story obviously but I know I can play with better technique.

However I would say that it doesn't seem to give you quite the level of control over your moves as a God of War or DMC type of game. Maybe I'm triggering combos but since it auto-blocks and you can manually jump, it seems the attacks it does aren't as precise as in those other games.

Or doesn't give you the sense of control.

But the moves seem more insane.

Normally this is exactly the kind of game I'd rent but I got it as part of the TRU sale so it wasn't so bad. Like I said, I can see replaying through it at higher difficulty.
