I got it to work tonight and it's pretty darn good. Since I wasted at least an hour trying to figure it out and will also have to do it again to fix a few things, I thought I'd post some tips. I took the pictures with a digital camera.
I created myself, wife, and two sons. I was by far the worst one. It doesn't really look like me at all. It may be because I am tanner than usual due to golfing/running and I had a heavy 5 o'clock shadow. Whatever it was I came out looking like I am of mideastern decent (nothing wrong with that except I'm a German white guy...LOL). The image of my wife and kids came out really good except for the issues I'll note below.
1. I think you must use an email account that is tied to your Xbox Live gamertag. I tried another and it didn't work until I used the same email that I use at xboxlive.com.
2. Despite what the web site says, the pics must be 1024x768 and jpeg.
3. Don't smile (my kids did) because your teeth will show up on your lips.
4. My wife has bangs and they showed up on her forehead. Every created character is bald. Her character was created bald except for a small row of bangs! It doesn't really matter that much because you can choose hair later, but if you are creating a character with bangs I would pull the hair back when you take the photo.
5. I can only add front pictures at the site now. Don't worry that it seems to get stuck and nothing uploads. After you get a downloading message and it looks done it is. Just go back to the inventory screen and upload another one. You won't see anything in your inventory until you log out and back in, which I highly discourage unless you're doing it at 2AM. You will know for sure if it uploaded when you are trying to access your inventory on your 360.
6. It's fairly intuitive once you get on the 360 and go through the menus. It takes about 5-10 minutes.
7. The eye colors were never right, but it's easily fixable.
8. I can't figure out how to edit the pictures on the site, but except for skin tone it really didn't matter to me. I would make sure the pictures are really bright and use a flash.
All in all despite the bugs (including the worst web site design/use of flash I have every seen...not kidding) it is a great feature and I can't wait to show my family tomorrow morning.
Tiger Woods Game Face Tips/Discussion

I created myself as a golfer with the 360 camera and it came out very good. I still am unable to access the gameface from the website as it keeps saying they have exceeded the max number of connections. I want to make a couple of celebrity golfers to see how they come out when they get their website bandwidth straightened out so those tips will come in handy.

I used my camera phone. uploaded to my photo album, saved to the computer and uploaded at the EA site. Mine turned out looking kinda like me. I tweaked it in game a bit. I made the eyes a bit more droopy than mine are so I have to fix that. I don't have a buzzcut but I added one. What happened to the low fade? Need to do something about the eyebrows. Had to adjust the brightness using the tool on the EA site because the first pic I upload had this same pic but I was white...lol. I made the picture darker and this is how it came out. I have some more work to do on it.
